Where to Start with Link Building

If you want to rank high, you should consider how important link building is. Links are very important. Links help us get more traffic to our site, which will help us rank higher. If you have links pointing to your site from another site, this is link building. This tells the search engine that the site your link was placed on finds your site to be worthwhile and have content on it that is helpful to others. Here we will discuss what types of sites you will want to allow your site to be linked with and which ones to avoid at all costs.

Quality is Key

Quality is key when you build links. Not all links should be viewed as equals. You want to find sites that are high quality sites that have similar attributes to your site. If your site is about jackets, you could find sites that are about fashion and link them to the site. Would you want to link it to a site about cars? Most likely not because the two topics are no where related to each other. Have your sites you are linking to be related to your niche, and make sure that they are quality sites to begin with. One link from a high ranking site may be worth more than several you have placed at lower ranking sites.

Link Placement

Does it matter where your link is placed at on other pages? Yes very much so indeed. The closer your link is to the top of the page, the better it will fare. Try to get links that are placed as close to the top as you can so you can carry more weight on the site. If your link is placed on the bottom of a page, you will be less likely to be seen by visitors.

Forum posting

Consider forum posting for building some links. This is a great way to point to your site as long as it is done correctly. Once again you will need to relate to the niche. You would not want to place your link to your site that deals with children on a forum that has the niche of cats. Many do not agree with forum posting as a way to build links, but if it is done correctly there is nothing wrong with it.

Number of Links

Before deciding if you want to link to a page, you should first check out how many other links are on that page. If the page is loaded down with links, pass on it. Why? The more links a page has on it, the less valuable you link will be. Be very selective to who you link to as well as who you let link to you.

Link building is a great way to get your site on the map. The value of link building is great if you can do it correctly. Do not just link to any old site as you will not fare well with it. Following the steps above will make link building much easier for you and allow you to do it correctly.
