Six relevant sites where you can get backlinks for your local business include:

    Google Local
    Yahoo Local
    Hotfrog.com
    Yelp.com
    Yellowpages.com
    Kudzu.com

Most of these sites let you create a profile page for your local business, with complete contact details. Others offer the opportunity for local users of your business to leave reviews. If you have many happy customers, this can lead to additional business within the community.

Can you think of other sites where you could get backlinks for your local business?

Could these also help sites that doesn't have to do with selling stuffs and services?

Like what kind of sites specifically?

    Like blogs or news sites.

And, do these sites have a local (city/state/country) angle? If so, then a local site could possibly help.

From which countries do they target to?

I've only seen the American version of CitySearch, though maybe it's available for other countries.

It's really cool if you have a business in the US as it's always easier to promote your local business online since most internet users are from the US.

We can't ignore micro blogging sites to get back links because I have good experience of it.
When I post new content in my site I always post URL link with little description in micro blogging sites.

Those are some great places, I personally didn't even think of any of those. I personally think for a local business the best place to advertise (not backlinks) is at light polls or at other business that are closely related.

It's difficult to do SEO in China, as Google,Yahoo,Hotfrog normally don't work very well in domestic circumstance...

Don't you have Baidu in China? From what i know it's a huge local search engine and you can get good results there as well. As for Google not working, can't you use any Proxy?
