Ever since Panda/Penguin updates came out, many of the old ways of doing SEO have been abolished or at least made less effective. But one of the things that always helps with SEO is to create good quality content. For me, that would be to write a great volume of words on each blog post, not just a paragraph. That helps prevent the impression of keyword stuffing. Also, backlink from credible sources such as Google + and do follow sites. Don't target too many keywords per page/post.
