I need an established website that was created in Joomla converted to Wordpress. Is that possible? How much would that cost (is it even cost effective)?

The best and fastest way a to convert Joomla to Wordpress is using a plugin like FG Joomla to WordPress.
If you don't like use a plugin, you need to write a custom script which allows you to import parts of Joomla site to WP. :)

Don't bother paying a programmer because he will just install a plugin and go through the step by step process of converting your joomla site to a wordpress site. It's actually pretty simple with the plugins that wordpress provides. It's actually a pretty smart thing to offer since they can pull people from joomla and keep them on wordpress since it's a much more loved platform for a website or blog
On wordpress.org I searched for "convert joomla to wordpress" and I found a few plugins that were just ok. But there was one plugin that topped the leader board in terms of five star reviews and the amount of installs. It currently has over 10,000 installs and a five star rating. I'd say that's a pretty good plugin since everyone that uses it is in love with it lol.

I'm sure there will be a few bumps in the road because not everything is perfect in todays world. But this plugin will definitely help increase the speed of your transfer and reduce your stress
