It depends. Some of the local business benefit from the Google business to be shown on the search engine. And some of the sites being seen on the facebook ads benefit from the ads on the social network. Each have their own benefit. Bing ads too are good enough on many points. I personally think that facebook ads are being replaced more these days. But Bing and google would be having hard time in near future.

maybe you are confusing Google Adwords with Google Adsense. Google Adword is an advertising service for advertisers and Google Adsense is an advertising service for publishers. When you want to advertise product, you use Adwords and when you want to monetize your site with Google Ads, you use Adsense.
I have never used Adwords, however, I have experience with Facebook ads. Good thing about facebook ad you can start your campaign very low, you can advertise for just $1. Good point about Adwords is you get free advertising credits of you sopend certain amount.

My blogs have been with Google Adsense and I guess it is more effective than Facebook Ads in terms of positive reactions because the placing of ads by Adsense is based on the related niche of the ads. Let’s say the website you are promoting is about food supplements, Adsense will be placing your ads in websites with nearly the same niche. That means your ad will be relevant to the readers of the website where your ad appeared. With Facebook, it is a universal approach where the audience is general in nature, no categories involved.

Yeah. What vinaya said. But also ... where are the people you're trying to reach?

Facebook Ads are great if the people you want to reach are on Facebook.

Google Ad Sense ads are everywhere ... except on Facebook. Facebook Ads vs Google Adsense: Which works better?
