Could creating a group on Facebook be beneficial for your freelance business?

Social media is a big thing, I know with all big things that there comes people with similar interest. Recently I've took the time to notice how my nephew uses the sneaker groups he is in on Facebook to buy sell and trade his name brand shoes. He's using it on a small scale compared to what I would use it for, I can say personally I do see potential
in making my own group whether it's to get people more aware or just more connected point is it can bring potential clients, do you think I'm on to something here or could I just be doing a little much?

I think it would be extremely beneficial to create a group and reach like minded people. I have a friend who is on Facebook and his group has 3.5M real members. Here is the cool part, every time that he launches a new product or service he will get hundreds and even thousands of responsive people that actually make purchases. His look to book ratio, how many people are looking to how many people are buying is very good. It is not uncommon for him to easily make 60K USD per month with little effort. That being said it did take him a long time to build up the massive audience that he is enjoying today. There are no shortcuts building a great group. If you are willing to put in a couple of years of hard work building the group it could really pay off in the long run.

wow, over 3.5M group members,. it must have been a very long time that he has set up that a Facebook group. surely any product or service advertised on that group will surely get lots of visitors traffic and hence good sales and conversions. That group is a goldmine that will surely fetch lots of income now and in the future.

Yes, he worked very hard building his member base. It took years to get where he is today and a lot of hard work.

So like has he written an eBook or instructions on how to get 2.5M real members into a group? I can work incredibly hard, tell me how!

I don't think that he wrote anything but I will suggest that he makes an eBook. Also, I will reach out to him today and ask if he could share some of the top suggestions or tips on growing a group to that size. I too would like to know the details!

Well not really. There is little I can do with a facebook group to improve my freelance sales. Yes sure, I can join other groups searching for clients but don't see the point in having my own facebook group.

Potential clients will probably never join it. But now that I think about it, maybe I should make a group and invite all my past clients there, they already know me so joining won't be a problem, I can update them on my new services....thanks for the idea!

Social media marketing can be very beneficial, even more for facebook. There are various ways to promote your work on facebook and one free method is promoting on facebook groups. You can either create a group ask people to join it and begin the promotion, or join a group and promote your work. If the group is yours, you have full control over it and you can share what ever you want. However, if you join others' group, you have to follow by their rules.
The first important thing for creating a group is how to build followers. Building followers on your group is really hard.

I have been freelancing for quite a time now but I still haven’t used social media for my business purposes. But when I come up with my own blog then that will be the day that I will utilize my Facebook account to get viewers for my blog. And maybe, if plans push through, I will have to create a Facebook Group that is directly related to the niche of my blog as a preparation for marketing. Let’s say I get 1,000 members in that group then that’s good pasture for marketing my blog.
