Workplace layouts can increase profits in the long run.

It's not secret that setting up your office in a way that flows well will make people happier. It's actually something that people work with all the time in their homes and in offices around the world. It's called Feng Shui, but that's not what I'm really here to talk about.

I was recently at my friends office and I told him it felt like I was in a prison because of how everything was set up. He did have it set up to maximize the amount of employees he could have, but he only has around 6 and he was set up for 20 lol. I told him that he needs to make it look happier and not a bunch of grey cubicles where people are confined for 8 hours a day.

There have actually been studies that have proven if you have vibrant colors in a workplace that you'll increase work flow and productivity, and as a CEO myself, I think this is pretty amazing

If you have an open floor work environment and not dozens of cubicles, your employees will feel more at home and not like they're in their basic 9 to 5 grind trying to earn a pay check. Open floor plans have always made people happier, especially those that don't like tight spaces.

So by combining vibrant colors and an open floor environment you will increase work flow and productivity which will result in more sales from the sales team and better output by the people who fill the orders, work on the websites, do the campaigns, etc.

Oh I certainly think that work environment plays a huge role.

I have started working from a different spot in my office upstairs lately and I have found that I am way more productive! My desk is at the back of the room, the only place it can be because it is next to the phone/ internet connection and the power connection. I also have a bed set up in my office, yes it is a large room and I have nowhere to put the spare double bed except that room.

My parents often come and stay so they sleep in my office. Anyway I have started working from the bed with the curtains open so I look out over the sea while I work. It makes me happy and keeps me in a great mood.

I personally don't believe much in this stuff. Sure the actual environment may help if feel a little more relaxed but we are talking about a job here, you don't really need all the comforts of home. Too much relaxation leads to laziness, in my opinion, I personally get very sleep if the office is very quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere.

My current office is very "corporate" looking, having spaces for relaxation, it's an open space with lots of room and we aren't crowded at all and as I said, sometimes I get too relaxed and eventually sleepy.
At my last job everyone was packed together into a very small office area, about 100 persons in a very crowded open space with an industrial layout, sure it wasn't relaxing at all, but that whole "work" atmosphere made you very productive, at least it worked for me!

I think corporate level of the work quality is now reduced. And so much comfort and the efforts are being pushed. You can see that workpace layouts have their own set of the issues. And many companies need to focus on getting work done instead of pushing their own comfort and coolness agenda. because not everyone can play it like google.

In the olden days, most offices have an open area where you can see and talk to everyone. The cubicle was unheard of and socializing was a great way to refresh your mind. But now most offices have the cubicles as if dividing the employees physically. That is a good way of giving privacy for the employee to gain more focus at work. But the downside is the lack of connection to the co-workers.
