What SEO trends should we expect for 2017?

2016 has been a great year for SEO and Google evidently, Penguin got updated and RankBrain went live.

What SEO trends should we expect for 2017?
Some of the most important points for 2016 SEO were:

  • Optimizing for website speed
  • Microformats, Microdata and Structure data - in essence, search snippet optimizations
  • User engagement content as well as the optimization of your own brand
  • Creating content that is satisfying for everyone, the goal of modern SEO is to think out of the box and anticipate user's intent
  • Plain old on-page optimization around keywords - despite RankBrain this was still relevant for 2016
  • Provide subjects that are closely related together as a suggestion

What SEO trends should we expect for 2017?

I believe is all about ROI in the end and although in the past there was a problem getting an exact number of ROI for SEO, I believe we now have sufficient tools and search engine knowledge to understand and interpret data correctly so we can maximize our SEO ROI to the fullest.

Google may buy twitter is the biggest thing i have heard for a couple of years. That move would be huge for Google Inc. This information is great for me because i am always looking for marketing tips like these to drive more people to my seoclerks services. How did you get so knowledgeable in SEO? I look forward to hearing more in the future about rank brain. I agree with Raduv video marketing is becoming HUGE amongst the younger crowd. The coolest thing you have to do now a days is document your entire life on social media. YouTube leads the way and i know many people who use this to make money its just hard to get started.

Oh yes that will be massive won't it? I wonder what effect that would have for social media marketing. My two biggest social following is on Facebook and the my second largest is on Twitter.

Video content and marketing

Video content will be the most important trend in 2017. I know that in 2016 the stepping stone has been put it but 2017 will be a major breakthrough because people are already fond with this content and it seems that the impact of visual marketing is higher and it reaches more.

I am surfing videos on Youtube of people that are just playing some random games. The amount of hits they get is huge and they basically don't do anything except playing and telling a story.

This is a discussion posted last year and I guess you are right in your prediction that video is now an important part of the content. Even in blogging, there is that thing called vlogging which is a blogging with the use of a video. In most contents now it is encouraged to include not only images or pictures but also of videos to further enhance the quality of the content.

Cristian I think a huge trend throughout 2016 was that content marketing is taking the lead now, even Rankbrain goes on to back this up and it makes sense. Google wants to match the best content to a person's search and I think this is where the focus is.

I think 2017 will still be focused on content marketing first and foremost. I do believe that on page and off page optimization plays a role and always will but I think the actual content that is published will be the end deciding factor in the future.
