100 Sales Today or 200 Sales During The Next 30 Days?

Hello Freelancers,
I had a discussion with a friend of mine and even though this wasn't really "freelancing" related when we discussed it, I thought I'd ask you this question as our discussion was pretty interesting.

So basically, if you had a service or a product and you could get 100 sales today, with a push of a button. - Would you take it or would you rather have 200 sales in the next 30 days?

I do understand that some might say that they'll take the money today, as some people seem to be interested in short term solutions in general, meanwhile others would never even consider 100 sales today if they knew that they could get 200 sales in the next 30 days. - I wonder what you would do, and why?

For me it really depends on the price on the services that i am doing. If i could have 200 ales today at $1, or if i want 200 services over a period of time for $2 each. I would rather have more money over a period of time rather than a short burst of money and then its done. I do this for a living and if i can i try and squeeze every dollar i can out of every service. Up selling is also something i try and do every chance i get. I love fast cash too but when it comes to paying bills i need longevity. I agree with everyone else i would rather take more sales over a period of time.

Let's say you'll get $10 for each sale. Would you take the money today, which would be 100 sales or would you still go with 200 sales in 30 days?

I will settle for the 200 sales within 30 days as i will not be under pressure but have enough time to be able to deliver them very well and get good positive feedback response that being under so much pressure to complete everything since they will most likely have the same deadline delivery date. Earning positive feedback reviews that earn good reputation is better than money which comes second.

Give me 200 sales over the next 30 days, or even over the course of the next year. I have no problem with doing work today that will pay off in the future. In fact most of the things that I am concentrating on with my online business are not giving me immediate results but they will give me results in the future and it will be residual income at some stage.

There are too many people going for immediate gratification and this is where people fall short in my opinion. Do things the right way, build a good, solid foundation for your business today and it could pay you for many years to come.

That's a very good point Lynne and I do agree with you, but in reality I'd say that even if most people would agree with you, they still do the opposite. Often due to their situation and due to the fact that quick cash would literally "buy them more time" to come up with the next "solution" to bring more money to the table.

Oh yes people are strange when it comes to money! I know someone that had no job but owned a house so she rented it out for a nice amount of money... she never paid the water because she was short of money, so the result was that the municipality cut off the water to the house! The result is she lost her tenants.

Some people just have no sense at all. My way of thinking would be to get the rent money and ensure that the house is always sorted out first for everything because of it being my only source of income...

I would love to have a lot of orders stretch on as many days as possible, 100 orders seems like a lot, depends on what I'm selling but I'm pretty sure most of us would have problems delivering 100 orders in just a few days so yeah, 200 orders in 30 days would be incredible.

I never think I had that many orders in just one month, not even when I was fully active as a full time freelancer. I always wanted to reach such a performance though.

Thank you for your answer Cristian. Let's forget about the actual work and just focus on the money. Would you rather get the money 100 orders are worth today or would you go with 200 orders worth of money in 30 days?
