Best business policy - Honesty?

Dear Freelancers,
What business policy do you believe is the best? - Honesty?

I personally take my business very serious. No matter the amount, no matter what kind of order and no matter who the client is, I'm always polite, professional and I am honest. At least I try to be, each and every time.

If a potential client asks me questions or having thoughts, I always try to give them honest answers, even if it might sound harsh or perhaps even rude sometimes. - I'm a firm believer in honesty.

For instance, I would never claim to be able to deliver something I can't deliver. If I try to deliver something I've never delivered before, then I'll tell my potential clients this before any orders have been placed.

What do you think?

Yes i agree when you are honest people will have faith in you and will trust you will larger purchases. Sometimes we have to watch out for dishonest buyers because no matter what you do a buyer can say whatever they want and its ok. I always make sure that no matter if im buying or selling i always make sure i tell the truth. We have to kill them with kindness and honesty and explain our side and try and diffuse the situation. I see so many people on here bidding for WTB and they cannot do the work themselves. They bid hoping they can win at a higher price so they can hire someone else to do it. But can you really depend on someone else to do the work? I can see this getting messy every time.

Honesty is the bedrock of any business if you're not honest then you leave no option for your customers or clients to call you a thief, which I believe it abominable not just bad.

Work hard but also improve on your interpersonal relationship.

Yes, definitely. Honesty is an important trait and your clients will trust you more if they feel you are being honest with them. I also believe in being very responsible and committed. You need to stick with what you promise and set out to do the job well from the start. I feel that my clients sense this and that is one key way to get them to feel they are safe ordering from you and that they are going to order again in the future. It all comes down to honesty and integrity, and also being trustworthy and professional.

I would say courage. Courage to not be afraid of anyone or anything that comes your way, the courage to fix every problem you have in your business and the courage to innovate and move on, throwing yourself into a difficult situation only to improve on the long run.

Of course, a large number of other different factors will make a business succesful, some more important than others, but when it comes to making money and being successful, I believe courage is the most important business policy you can have!

You do have a good point here Cristian. It also takes courage to be honest doesn't it? When you stuff up an order and you need to let the buyer know you need the courage to let them know exactly what happened.. or you can hide and refuse to answer messages and ignore the buyer! Not much courage involved there LOL

Honestly surely i also the best policy in business to me too. i strongly go with you on that. Also maintaining a very good reputation in form of positive feedback reviews and recommendations is another great policy a seller must keep, very close or even equal to honesty and is now becoming the utimate these days.

Yes Andre, I think honesty is one of the most important business qualities you can have. Not only will you feel good about yourself at the end of the day, but you will also build up a foundation of loyal customers that trust you.

I'm not trying to put anyone down but the truth is that so many businesses and people are less concerned with honesty and more concerned with making money no matter what they have to do to make it.

I have had so many people approach me to try and get business out of me, yet when I ask a few simple questions it becomes very clear to me that they are in over their heads and I have more knowledge than them, yet they are still trying to convince me they are the best person for the job when I need someone that is more knowledgeable and experienced than me to perform tasks that I will pay for!

I agree with honesty because that is the best policy. As a business person, you need integrity and you can only have it if you are truly honest. You may commit mistakes but as long as they are honest mistakes then it's immaterial when it comes to your integrity. With honesty, you can never go wrong.

To have a better business image, brand or reputation one must be honest and trustworthy.people might feel one pricing is high but when they know one is not bound to disappoint them they get stuck with the person, it definitely not just about money but response time and excellent work should be a benchmark if we want to progress in our business.
