Everyone is talking about "fresh content", but does it still work?

It seems simple logic that a good way to start getting traffic to your website is by using the search engines. And, one of the first things you need to do to promote a website is to add fresh content weekly. Or, at least that was the prevailing theory for awhile, that new content is always dominant over more stale content. So, what does Google think about this? From one point of view, older content has stood the test of time and proven that it has value. If a site is still around after ten years, with the same pages (even if no changes made to those pages) and still gets regular traffic, then you know it has value.

Evergreen content will rarely change it's value as it's always going to be true information now or ten years from now.

What is your point of view? Old content or new content?

If that was the secret... Just doing that would be enough to be rich or at least to earn a living!...
I think you need a balance between good content and relevant subjects (good content on irrelevant subjects or issues people are not looking into, it is not going anywhere).
Don't be obsessed with good content...
I think that average content with good promotion and seo is better than good content with no promotion and no seo.
If you can do both, it will be of course better!
If you are busy, you can always update new content monthly instead of weekly Everyone is talking about "fresh content", but does it still work?

I believe that fresh content needs to be added on a regular basis for a site to remain popular. People will want to have access to content that is fresh, informative and relevant, and so to strike this balance between what people need, and what search engines want, original content posted often is important.

Fresh content I believe is still important because lets face it, who wants to hit a site and find that the content on there is months old? Balancing fresh, new content with promotion and good work with SEO is the best way, it gives something new for the search engines to list and by working on promotion and backlinks as well as relevant keywords you are also increasing your ranking in the search engines. It's about getting the right balance that works for you and sticking by that to succeed.

Fresh content doesn't work anymore. You need the perfect content now. You need to fully satisfy the user's intent. Meaning your content consistent but easy to follow, detailed but easy to read, long but not too long, not longer that the "user" expects it to be.

After the Rank Brain update, everything got very complex, for a successful piece of content you need a combination of a lot of factors, just being fresh or old doesn't help anymore.
It needs to be everything the users expects it do be so that the user, won't need to make additional searches to find

Yes of course. If you add fresh contents you will get more traffic. Let me illustrate my point. You have 100 subscribers. When you publish new contents, your subscribers are notified. Some of them will check your new contents. You will get traffic.
Search engines trust old contents. If you publish fresh contents today, it will be indexed by search engines tomorrow. If you don't publish today, your content published yesterday will buried down.

All of the sites that you can find online wanted Fresh Content. Nobody wants duplicate contents or refurbish contents. The market is seeking for new ideas, new tips and tricks and latest updates to users requirement. hence, Fresh Content means new articles from the writers. That is why fresh content will drive in more traffic when the followers are notified.

I know that most of us are still getting views on our old content but this does not mean that fresh content is not important. There are people who actually want to read something new. Moreover the traffic to your blog will decrease if there is no fresh content. Furthermore, your old articles may contain outdated information which may be misleading. If this were to happen then your reputation will be at stake.

For one who is not well versed with the SEO thing, I would go for fresh content. It may not be an assurance to get ranked in search engines but it is safe and natural than being SEO compliant. And unless being SEO dependent for traffic, I would rather enjoy putting in natural content to my site.

I will say it works both ways, when once a site has stood the test of time, then it will still have traffic from Google but it will be better if new content is added to it, it will pull more traffic.

So yes new or fresher contents is still the best for search engine.
