Small business marketing and what you should focus on

When it comes to small business marketing, you will always be pulled in multiple directions because it can get very overwhelming.  I'm here to tell you that it's ok to be worried about what you're doing when it comes to marketing your small business, it's natural Small business marketing and what you should focus on  You will have a ton of things to focus on and worrying about all of them shouldn't be on your list lol.

In this discussion I'm going to cover what you should be focusing on when it comes to small business marketing.  There will be a lot of things to do, but I'm only going to be focusing on the first few so that you can get a good foot hold and expand from there Small business marketing and what you should focus on

Let's Begin

Social Media Campaigns
You will always want to lock in your social media profiles before you start to do anything.  Once you start to do marketing for your small business, there are people who will search through all the major social media platforms and see which profiles you have set up.  Sometimes they will set up a Facebook or twitter page and try to sell it to you, which is basically a black hat method of making money online lol.

Be safe and lock up your business and website names on social media platforms so that you don't have to worry about people doing it for you and impersonating you in a bad way.  You could also save a lot of money doing this because you won't have to buy your pages that someone is trying to sell you even though the pages are named after your business.

SEO Campaigns
When it comes to SEO you can't think you're going to achieve success overnight.  You will need to work on this over time in order to be successful.  One thing you'll want to start out with is getting the word out about your business on high Domain Authority (DA) websites.  This will help bring in traffic directly from the links you're posting within your articles as well as increase your search engine rankings in order to pull in traffic from the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).

Avoid using any type of SEO software when you start out because this could just harm your website pretty bad and you might not be able to recover if all you've used was software to post links.  You will be able to use software eventually, just not in the beginning of your campaign and never on your first tier links (the ones aimed right at your site).

PPC Campaigns
When you're starting out with online marketing for your small business you will always want to focus on PPC.  This is the easiest way to bring in super targeted traffic in order to make a sale.  This does cost money but it's usually worth it if you do it right.  You can outsource this work to a company that will manage your account, but it's not needed.

Simply set up your campaigns and set the bid much lower than what the recommended bid is.  I normally start my bids off at $0.10 even if the recommendation is $1.00 lol.  I will still get traffic at $0.10 per click but it won't be as much.  I do this because I can increase my quality score while watching Adwords, Bing Ads and Facebook ads lower my CPC because my quality score is increasing.  Once I have everything tweaked and running well I will increase my CPC bid to something a little higher, but never more than 300% of what my starting bid was.  So if I were bidding $0.10 per click I would increase it to $0.20 or $0.30 per click after everything was running smooth.

In Conclusion:
These are just a few things that you should focus on, but they are bigger than you think.  Running the proper social media campaign starts off with your social media profiles.  If you don't have those locked down then you will be losing money.  You will need to focus on both SEO and PPC because they compliment each other very well.  Never look at them as competitors in the SERPs because they are completely different.  One is natural rankings over time and the other is paid rankings.  Paid rankings bring in quick sales while natural rankings bring in sales over time Small business marketing and what you should focus on

Managing to secure your brand on social media sites are so important especially since the sites do not help you out much even when someone is pretending to be your brand (unless you are a massive business). Facebook is the biggest culprits of this. I am actually developing the online aspect of my dad's business and someone has created a Facebook page with the same name except with a .com at the end trying to pretend to be our business. Unfortunately, Facebook hasn't been much help.

Oh, wow, really? That is so terrible. I can only imagine how annoying that must be since they are pretending to be you.

Did you try to contact them and they refused to stop? Also, you should keep trying to talk to Facebook about it because that shouldn't be allowed or legal.

I hope you can resolve it!

To be fair, I don't think they have actually done much on the page. It appears to be pretty empty and nothing has been added onto the page. It's just a blank page except with our brand name. We haven't bothered to contact them yet but we may do so if Facebook doesn't do much. We have already contacted Facebook and are just waiting for their response (if they bother at all).

Gee, that is one big spoiler when someone would create a copy of your domain name and in social media too that it would drag down the branding of your site. That is one issue in the internet because there are no laws governing the cyber society that it seems anyone can do anything as long as they are not caught. In the case of the copied branding I guess it is not illegal but definitely immoral.

Great advice as always. I personally always think that the social media mixed with SEO is the best way to go. SEO brings in the organic traffic and social media is great for exposure and branding your business.

When you are focusing on social media platforms always remember that you have to find your target audience and know what they want. Eliminate others and give them all of your attention since those people will be your customers and buyers.

Yeah you are right and that seems to be the sinking factor in social media campaign, people just pull off the Ads and throw on the space, without proper customization and targeting, which is very bad. And it is also difficult most times, when trying to reach the proper audience. but you you hit them at the right fraction every thing will fall into place.

I think small business marketing takes time to establish. You can start with the small steps. You can't do this overnight. And it may not be easy for many of them. I have learned that those who try and get things in order they can learn from their mistakes. Not all the marketing methods out there work for all business. So we have to find the focus and then get the things done as well. I guess having PPC helps if you have some online presence.

You are right, especially the social media campaign, it helps you rank higher on google. When you have a social media profile, on facebook, google+ etc. it boosts your rankings and boost your page views. That's why it's recommended to always get a social media profile for every website you are running, It helps greatly.

I'm guessing that social media boosting on Facebook is the cheapest, though, I could be wrong. I mean, it seems like Facebook would normally offer to boost your post to outrageously large numbers of people. Nonetheless, though, just cause it's boosted doesn't mean people will respond. In that sense, you might not be getting a better deal or at least, the deal is the same.

Thanks again one more time to Razzy, for his amazing tips. As I said around here, my sister decided to have a small business, and in the beginning her activity was really slow. After going for social media, the difference was absolutely notorious. What she focus usually is to promote her job in an attractive way, she makes contests with her followers, offers big sales or happy hour, improve and update her site. Also, she always make the clients to feel comfy with her and the website. She keeps interaction and communication with her clients, and they recommend more friends. So, between social media and attending her clients, her sales went crazy for sure.

i agree that social media campaigns are great for promoting business since I personally look for an official social media platform of something that I want to but/go to and the amount of shares that people can do if they liked your business will up the popularity of your business. If business people are able to create an efficient social media platform, it is guaranteed that will have a good chance of reaching out to wider audience.

As part of the ways to go about marketing your small business, PPC campaigns are best achieved with Google AdWords. Google AdWords is the greatest online advertising or PPC advertising platform in the world. You create as many campaigns as you want and pay only when people click on your ads.

Social networks are equally great and highly promising. Among others, you can focus on using Facebook ads and pages, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and LinkedIn. These five major social media are the most used ones and can help you deliver instant traffic to your website or blog.

Now I know why there are the so called posers in social media, those people who create an account that is supposed to be you but not you because it is them. And when they have gathered friends and followers, they can use your popularity for their own benefit. I understand that we have to be careful of such users because they can ruin our image with their improper business dealings. Worse, what if your fake profile is used to scam people? That would be a great disaster.

I have a small business. I do not have a lot of money for promotion and branding of my business, however, I want to see my business making money.
When I launch social media campaigns, I ask my friends and families to spread the word (I don't have to pay them).
I do my own SEO. While my methods may not make my business number one on Google, however, my SEO campaigns helps my business get a good position on search engines.
I tried PPC once.
