What is the spec of your laptop/desktop?

Hello guys!

I am just curious about the kind of set-up (if you use rigs) you guys have. I am asking in a gamer's point of view but it could also be for rendering and other daily activities. Here's mine:

i7-3770k
GTX 660ti
hyper-X 2x4gb ram
WD 2x1 TB hdd
CM bronze 600w psu
CM limited edition HAF case
other CM accessories

I know most of you guys prefer Macs which is I think one of the best choice for mobility. It's always nice to have a good working rig for all those tabs and other softwares running, right? ;)

Cheers!

In my opinion, unless you're in a graphic design field, PCs are the way to go. I just have an average laptop which I use for heavy Internet surfing and photo/video editing.

True. Graphic designing needs to have a good running computer. Although sometimes, it also depends on the software that you are using it with.

That is a good piece of device you have there. What year is that model? I bet you are needing an upgrade with your hard drive. What is the spec of your laptop/desktop?

Thanks for sharing by the way. What is the spec of your laptop/desktop?

I like the specs of your laptop. I am considering buying an SSD for my lenovo. Someone said it is faster and much more efficient than the normal HDD I am using at the moment. Did you buy your own separately or is it stock?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

galegatling
Yep indeed. SSDs are the best choice if you want to have a faster laptop with blazing OS, boot time, and apps relunch. It helps you save time but you gotta be careful what to choose. There are other imitation of SSDs and some don't function the way they are supposed to. They are pretty costly too sometimes.

TYPE: Laptop
CPU: AMD A10-4600M Quad-core 2.3GHz (Turbo 3.2 GHz)
RAM: 8GB
Graphics: AMD HD 7660G (Integrated Graphics) + AMD HD 7610M (Dedicated 1GB DDR3)
Firmware: UEFI

It's getting a bit old, but I can't afford a new computer currently. I bought it in 2012 or 2013 for about $650 CAD + Taxes. I have a monitor hooked up, as well as a keyboard, and 2 usb hubs. Sometimes I hookup my stereo to it too What is the spec of your laptop/desktop?.

Ahh~ AMD, and it's an A10 model, very nice. Is that Richland or Kaveri? Your ram is just perfect for your chipset. And that integrated graphics will not fail you.

I have a question though, doesn't it overheat at some point when you do multi tasking? Like opening a lot of apps or tabs from your browser?

I have laptop with Intel Core i3 fifth generation. I also have the RAM of about 4GB. There are also 500 HDD and with the DOS installed. The DOS here is the freeDOS. I have then upgraded to the Windows 7. And in future I may update it to the Windows 10. There is also 15 inch display screen. I have recently keyboard which can be used there as well. I think i can get used to this configuration for 2 more years.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

galegatling
That is just a perfect match but if you have a chance to upgrade your RAM to 8gb, or add a new stick if its possible, you could do that.

But yes you should definitely upgrade it to Windows 10. It has an update for laptops that makes it run faster and less boot time.

Cheers!

As long as it gets the job done, then it's just fine. What is the spec of your laptop/desktop?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

yes, I am not using laptop for games nor movies, so a slow laptop is alright as long as I can get my job done. The most important spec is the internet speed. I hate it when the mouse cursor keeps going in circles

Another AMD user! Thank you for sharing! Great specs by the way. How is it so far in terms of heat and performance? I've heard that AMD laptops tend to get hot when you open multiple apps or tabs from your browser.

I dont have laptop yet but planning to buy me one this end of the month. Hoping to get a good deal with hp laptop. Looking for 4 gb RAM, 500 hard drive space, windows 10 as OS, core i7 as processor and the rest i consider freebies.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

galegatling
That's good to hear. But I suggest you go with Acer or ASUS. They have pretty decent laptop models. 4gb RAM is the ideal memory for starters. Unless you are rendering like heavy video editing or music mixing, then I would suggest that you only go for a core i5 or a core i3 kabbylake and add more hard drive space and another 4gb ram (8GB in total). Also, if you can, get an SSD.

Hi there
Thanks for your query. Though I am not gamer and I never use my laptops for gaming. I am a full time freelancer and I have been working as outsource contractor last 8 years and I have an office and here me and my team used more than 10 laptops for daily work. Though all of mine. So, I do not say you specifically which one best reconfigurable laptop right now. yes! i can say which I love to use in office and I recently purchased a Dell Latitude 4th generation laptops. Which really fast and convenience for doing multi task. Processor: Intel Cori 5. Ram 8 GB. Disk space: 500 GB. 64 bit operating system. I have more 9 laptops in my office and all are almost same configuration.

Those are the standard machines for office works if you're not into heavy rendering and programming stuffs. The processor and RAMs are very decent. Also the storage space. But what is the OS? Is that Windows 10?

I have used 3 different laptops this year alone with different spec. The current laptop I am using currently is something below average.
Brand name: Hp 655
processor type : AMD 10
processor speed : 1.3 GHz dual core
RAM size : 4G
Memory Technology: DDR4
HDD Memory: 320 GB

what do you think of my computer spec.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think it's awesome! But I want to ask something. Does it overheat often or a lot? I've heard a lot of complaints from other AMD users that those laptops and desktops who has an AMD chip will run hot all the time. :/

It's not much, since I bought it primarily cause I don't have a PC that I could carry around with me.

i3-4005U 1.7GHZ
Nvidia 930M 2GB VRAM
4GB RAM
1TB HDD

That's everything I know about it. I can also play some games on it but don't expect much since it's not a laptop for gaming.

For the past three years I've been using a Republic of Gamers laptop from Asus. It sure cost me a pretty penny, but considering I've been using it for so long and still don't have the need to replace it, I'd say it was a worthwhile investment. The specifications aren't anything out of this world but it is pretty good for something mobile. They are:

Asus ROG G750JS
Processor: Intel Core i7 4700HQ 3.4 Ghz
RAM: 16 GB DDR3
Memory: 1 TB HDD, 256 GB SSD
Graphics: GeForce GTX 870M 3 GB
Monitor: 17-inch

Now that is what I call a monster laptop! What is the spec of your laptop/desktop? I don't think a pretty penny would be able to cover the price of that one since it's really powerful. You probably are working with a really high salary. What is the spec of your laptop/desktop?

Thanks for sharing! ^_^

This one has been going quite steady for the past three years. No complaints but my online workload is getting more and more tasking so I'll have to upgrade sooner or later:

Dell Inspiron i3 with 8GB RAM and 500GB Hard drive.

  5. 550 watt power supply that was installed 3 years ago

I am not a gamer and our home desktop may probably not qualify to your standard hardware configuration because it is an old one. My nephew is a gamer and he says that gaming needs a powerful computer because the new computer games now require not only bigger disk storage but also a bigger memory aside from the video and sound card for a better effect.
