Creating a blog of my pets

Creating a blog of my pets

I had a grand plan of creating a blog about pets. But I gotso many negative comments that it would be difficult to get a good number of
viewers because pet blogs are a dime a dozen, so to speak. I was advised to
think of another theme for the blog. But I insist on pets because I am a dog
lover and I enjoy writing about my dogs and even about other animals as well.
Maybe I just need to be creative enough in crafting my blogs. Do you have any
suggestions for me?

I'm not thinking of the earnings because myintention is to express myself and show off my dogs. Pictures are my priority
and probably videos too aside from the weekly article. But will my blog be
interesting to the general public?

This is a great idea from my point of view, so many people love animals and for that reason I think that you will receive a lot of visitors and comments, people can also share their own pets and talk about how they raise them.
You should give it a try, it doesn't matter what people say, if you love the idea just do it.

I agree with alastor1. You should definitely give it a try. Nevermind what other people saying. You should have no room for negativity in your mind. And besides, what you are doing is very beautiful. It's not everyday we see a blog full of lovely dogs and pets, unless we search them I guess. Creating a blog of my pets

Don't feel discouraged Corzhens. If you are truly passionate about something, you can and will make it work! You have to motivate yourself and only think positive.

Accept the critiques as well but only the constructive ones. Yes, there are plenty of blogs out there but that does not mean that you have 0% chances of success. It just means that it might take longer to get it going... so focus on standing out from the crowd. Your idea of including things like pictures and videos is great - that attracts the readers.

Make sure that you always post high-quality content, something new and fresh, be interactive if somebody posts a comment, and you can also try SEO once you establish your blog. It can get you a higher rank on the search engine and increase your traffic. If you have any more specific questions, ask away! We're all here to help.

I believe that you must not listen to others. If this is something that you really want to do then go for it. Sometimes there are some people who are there just to discourage others. I am also an animal lover and I think that this is a very good idea. I know many people who are fond of animals and saying that others would not view your forum just because of this topic is not true.

I also have the same thinking as you. The only way to find out if something will work is by simply testing. Listening to people a lot is not always the best option.

Well ... if you're not thinking about the possible winnings with your blog, then I recommend going forward. Start your blog and simply keep it to the extent possible.

But if you are thinking of earning some money from a blog in this niche, I recommend that you do a brief search on Google's keyword planner to check what kind of content people are interested in within this niche. This way you can be more assertive and attract the right audience to your blog.

I think that no matter what you choose to talk about on your blog you got to have two things:
1- Love the subject and 2- know a good deal about it. (If you don't research a bit)
Those are your most important starting points. Then, of course, you'll need a good deal of web and marketing knowledge to make it lucrative but those two are essential.

Just do what you love, Good things take time and believe in yourself. If you are passionate about your blog it definitely gonna work. Just listen what people trying to say on your blog, try to interact with your audience. Some of them just the haters don't listen to them, try to take advice from positive comments.

Your Blog will definitely will work and don't give up. Best of luck

Try different approaches as well on the blog have image of cute dog's or even funny pictures of dogs. Then you can sometimes share these image links on sites like Reddit and you may get some traffic signals coming from there. Join pets or dog groups on facebook and share your site or thoughts there as well.

I thought as you are not looking for money then you'll have a chance to get many visitors to your blog but in the long run, especially for a not common idea as yours to go and write for, here you are some tips:
1. Make it about fun, make some funny videos and comment on them with your voice it's good way to bring visitors and make you famous especially on youtube.
2. register with other animal-fans sites that their users will absolutely be interesting on what you are doing.
3. use good quality photos on your posts especially the cover article, if you have a professional camera shoot with it, carry it everywhere you never when it's the best moment.
4. Post videos of the birth of your baby animals, I think it's emotional moment and will get most people approbation.
5. And ensure that you have a good crafted blog, good looking and simple, it's important to get you up.

Good tips Brian! Since he is indeed not aiming for money, he can make it funny and at the same time giving visitors information about certain pets. One good thing about your tip is the part where you said to interact with other animal-fan sites. That is really helpful to attract or exchange views from those sites.
I personally think that this will be successful.

While I can't give you any serious suggestions or ideas, what I can do is remind you of the fact that in this day and age the online market is absolutely saturated with just about every topic and theme you can think of. Keeping that in mind, how can you stand out among a sea of blogs? The key to attracting attention is with novelty. You can't just shoot for an umbrella theme such as "pets." You need to find a niche, a sub-topic within the parent topic of pets. Marketing yourself is also very important. While starting off, you can't just wait around for the people to come to you. You have to go to them.

Yes, and there is many people who prefer to raise a dog than a baby. They treat them like their real kids.

When you have launched your pet blog, do PM me, I will visit and read your blog. There is nothing wrong with a pet blog. I had read tons of pet blogs which are doing well. The owner talked about the dog problems, disease, pups, behavior, embarrassing moments, you know the stuff that people are looking for at Google. Best of luck!

I think you should go for it, don't pay attention to others. If you are dedicated enough with it, it will be successful. There are many pet lovers out there that I'm sure would love to read it, myself included. You can post about grooming, training or your general experience with your own pets. The ideas are endless, you should go ahead and do it.

I think it would be a good idea. I've seen a couple of pet blogs back then that turned out to be successful eventually. My favorite was Boo the Pomeranian dog that looks like a bear. Basically, his owner had his hair trimmed to look like a teddy bear which looked so cute on him. Make a blog about your pets and upload the silly things that you find cute and people would be diving over there.

I think people do look for the pet blogs. And you can use the affilaite links on those blogs. And this way you can have some motivation for writing the blogs. It may not be a good option though to use it from post 1. In such case I'd say start with simple posts and then build it from there. You can also explain from there onwards as well. Then once you get enough people commenting you can make use of the ads and the affiliate links.

I think you should just do it. It doesn't sound very niche to me (there are so many pet lovers out there who regularly surf the web for cat/dog photos) so I think you could actually get pretty good traffic on your blog. But obviously, I think you'd be more successful complementing those photos with lived experiences about dealing with pets -- diseases, behavioral problems, house breaking, diet etc. so that other pet lovers who want to find solidarity and opinion can visit your site.

I think what is important with a blog is content and as long as you can generate a good content writing about your pet, then I can see how using pets as a theme for your blog might attract a lot of traffic. I understand that people love dogs in general so I guess pictures, stories, tips, etc. are some of the examples of good contents. What is good about your idea is that it also caters to people who don't own dogs as well.

I think its depend on your content and your surroundings, For example, I, myself own some cat but never once open nor search any blog about it. I tend to get information, videos or anything about them from official pages, forums, and social networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. For me, people going to blogs to find services, or as the second reference. Don't get me wrong, I do think blogging was still in the market, but I found it people tend to look for official page and many more alternatives. Just my 2cents views from what I look around me.

I'd say go for it! If you're passionate about writing about your pets and your experiences go for it! A personal blog about dogs is really interesting to me as a fellow dog owner. (Dog owners spend lots of $$$ on dogs which could lead to $$$ for you as well through affiliate sales!) My suggestion would be to write about funny situations or stuff that your dog does with lots of photos and videos as well. In addition to that do some research on common dog/pet problems/situations and do some research articles about why dogs do 'x' or how to get your dog to do 'y'. And obviously relate the articles to your experiences with your dog. It might be tough to be successful but I think you could use social media like Instagram/Facebook to build a brand around your dog/blog. Once your blog gets going maybe you can find other passionate dog owners who would like to write articles for your blog and you can start a community type thing. I'l stop my rambling now haha.If you decide to go ahead and make your blog make sure to post it here because I'm interested in it!

Once you have done your blog you must share it with as many networking sites as possible. You can download that share app which you will find free in the chrome app shop.

You are right about not aiming to earn as blogs are by the millions or may be billions. I too have a blog on gardening and when I see those country flags that have visited there that is good enough for me

From what I see you don't want to create this blog for earning money. You are doing it for fun and because you enjoy sharing information about pets in this case about dogs because you have one!
I would say to go for it, don't listen what others say, just give it a try!

I think that's a great idea. Right now pets even have their own Instagram or Facebook. I consider you can use a blog with your pets in many ways, but certainly I've seen people that helps other pets by those. I've known of pet blogs and social media that associate with animal foundations, that way they even help to find stolen or missing pets, you can trace a certain doctor or medicines, give important information about vaccines or public events. That way you will be showing the fun and caring side of having a pet, but also sharing and helping out. Good luck with it.

I am an animal lover. I love watching documentaries about animals. Since people are visual by nature, which makes them like documentaries, I like to suggest that you make a blog version of dog documentaries. If you specifically want to make it about your pets, come up with a story first. Make it something quite similar to a documentary then make a blog version about it. Then add a unique trivia about dogs at the end of the blog. I find this very interesting as an animal lover. I hope you like the idea.

I really liked your idea. You are already thinking about a niche, which is a good sign. Pet is a broad topic, you have drilled this topic to dog niche, which is really good. However, I am surprised that people suggested you otherwise. You can create a blog on dog niche, you can publish articles about dogs (training, breeds, health, vet advice etc.). Money may not be on your cards, but you can make a lot of money because you can sell dog products, you can even make dog gifts and sell to your readers.
