Breathe life into your old evergreen articles

One mistakes that so many bloggers make this days is all about making lots and lots of post without making it to reach out to more people...

Read to the end so that you can learn from this,

How can you be focused on just creating articles everyday and you expect your site to be getting enough traffic, since you dont promote the already existing posts this is a bad behaviour among some new bloggers...

As a blogger is not about making post is all about sharing your post to more people and make sure you have gotten to a setten goal on that post before you can make another post, this can improve your blog traffic and ranking on SEO, because with this method you will not leave any of your post looking abandoned or something that was'nt read by people,

So if you have a enough post with some conversations in it, this can help your blog on search engines and make it more enjoyable to read when a user comes to your site, and this can also avoid POGO STICKING  in your site which is one of the killers of site ranking through GOOGLE PANDA,

So if you offer something to read to users and make your content friendly with them, in a way search engines will fall in love with your site and probably they will start ranking your site thereby bringing you more traffics your site....

So lets go into breathing life into your evergreen posts,

what is your evergreen post? That a post that have fetched you more traffic to your site..

So most of this evergreen articles can become old and instead of letting it go, you have to breath life to it once again and make it fresh to also bring you some new traffics,

How can you do this?
Go to the article and make some little editions towards it and try to make it more modified and more attractive to users, then you change the date of the article having it that it is a new post but it will still bear the same link that it was using before, then with this that same post will still come back to your blog latest posts thereby making users to click on it, to view it so since it is an old thread they cannot really remember that it was once a post in your blog, or you can even tell them that it is an old post that you just modified...

After this, still take this post and promote it again and again to forums, social medias, etc to make more people get to it again and enjoy it once again, with that an old post is now refreshed and is bring you enough traffic again to your site,

So friends NO POST IS A WASTE dont allow a post you suffered and made just to waste like that, once in a while you bring it back to life agian do that your new users can also benefit from it thereby making your site a better place to be, THANKS

To renew your old content you have to do a lot more things. Start with google analytics take out your old stuff that are due for update. If you know about google analytics you will get your answer there itself. Check your conversion in analytical report. Locate the post with high value traffic link.Find the those ones that made clicked more time than others.
To boost your article is the effective way we can find in search engine optimization (SEO).The goal is to maintain the quality of your content throughout the time.
The next step is to garner your article with effective keywords and semantics text which in turn improves post visibility by making it SEO friendly. The higher it show in search engine the higher chances of it to get new visitors.
Try and stick to your original content as before. It was able to attract some audience due to its original content so don't deviate with that or you will loose your chunk of audience you had got.
Give it new look by adding new images, infographics . People love the infographics.

Hubpages is one of the sites that I first began publishing. Some of my articles on hubpages are more than 6 years old. These articles are earning me money since a long time. I have not updated these articles since a long time, still due to the evergreen topic of these articles, they continue to generate views. If I update these articles, I am sure I will get better traffic. However, due to my hectic schedule, I have not been able to work on these articles.

Breathing more life into those articles will bring you more traffic and with that your income from that post will increase to a level it was not before, but I recommend if you can figure out some time to go back and fix that post to be a fresh post, because as you said its already 6 years old, and I always recommend that every evergreen post is meant to be updated every 3years that is a pretty time to do that... Give your post life again and leave the rest to your users

Thanks for the advice. I understand the importance of updating old articles. Whether your articles are performing well or are not bringing good traffic, you need to update your articles. If you update your high performing article, you will gain more traffic because search engines like old articles that are regularly updated. If you update your non performing articles, it might bring visitors by being ranked higher.

I still occasionally post there. Though yet to post article in last 2 years. But I have plans to start posting back there. I wish to keep the earning. They have heavy moderation now. So it'd not so easy. But considering how the earning is going on. I'd say it's worth to be on hubpages these days for passive income. It'd not be so bad if you ask me.

I agree with you Mr gifthoy, It's very practical to renew a good old article can generate more traffics as long as you do it good, I have read that even some writers do that, They take other articles from a similar website then edit them and post them on their blogs, I wonder if that's legal but some people are good at it that you can't notice the resemblance.

Thanks dear it is nice you reviewed my post, coming to editing an article is not really illegal as long as you made the post look unique from the real one you just picked, yah lots of bloggers do this because at a time you will run out of topics, so you just have to look from the idea of a follow blogger or writer and and drive your own article, that's just that simple and neat

I myself get surprised whenever an old post gets resurrected or revived.
So, I go back to that post, comment back and then analyze what could have made the person choose it from amongst my posts.
One is that I have a nice picture that accompanies it. Second is having a catchy title that will keep the reader read it to the end.
Third is commenting back in such a way that the commentator will have to answer again.
These are my simple steps to revive the topic again.

I fully agree that pictures in the posts make for a strong appeal to the reader. When a friend's blog was first launched, it was all text because the blog is about sci-fi stories. After posting about 10 articles, the author realized that it is boring to see a page full of text only. What he did was to add photos, not just one picture but several pictures per article. With that, the hits count registered a marked improvement. That's why I am compiling photos now for my planned blog about my pets.

Yes, photos will be a big attraction to the readers. It somehow adds to the imagination of what is being discussed.

Sure a picture can be really nice when it comes to posts but have you thought about using videos, do you know that people making use of videos on their articles have about 70% traffics when compared to people making use of pictures alone or only articles... I think I will look into that on my next post

I totally agree on the use of videos on blogs, I've noticed I'm a very visual person, so in my case, a blog or forum that is completely covered on texts, with barely no pictures, videos, or graphics, turns out to be kind of boring for me. The best ones, are the ones made by the owner itself. So that shows to the subscribers or followers, that the owner takes time to interact with them. Also, that is great way to bring back to life and old post.

I can confirm that videos are a bit superior to pictures now. I have tried using both in different posts and I had a far better response when I was using videos. I think that people just enjoy watching things no matter what it is. It's very engaging and you should definitely take advantage of it!

Reviving old contents need one researching on the topics to give a new angle to the topics.Maybe the tips or points that were written are out-dated.So with the research new points would be added or the old points removed and updated with new points.

Sure Augusta you made a nice reply on this, with that modifications you can now make that thread more alive to users, most users won't even know that it used to be an existing post on that blog or site,.. So how do you see my recommendations about doing this every 3 years is it alright?

I think some of the time evergreen content is easy to create. But some of the time you have to push for stuff on your own. I have seen that people who can do that it'd be easier to see how that keywords can change. I think keywords and the tone can change a lot of thing about content. In some cases though you may want to consider how to work with the articles and other tone. So this way you can adjust with new content from the existing articles.

I think there are a lot of great suggestions here on how to recreate new content from old. Simply updating or making sure that the articles are fresh and appealing to new users will be helpful. I think also the addition of pictures and graphics to create new content from old is one of the best things you can do. Make certain you have a blog or website that will appeal to all users, and keep your articles truly evergreen.

That's a great advice. Those days I am really busy and can't really devote that much time to my blog. Moreover it happens at times that I can't think about anything to write. I think the best thing to do in this case will be to revive those old posts. I do have some great articles on my blog and I think that I can modify and promote them. I will definitely work on this when I have some free time.

I used to be a co-blogger with a guy who invited me to blogging and also helped me with the writing techniques. But it was a coincidence that I was losing time and he also lacked time so we both decided to let the blog stagnate for a while. But that short while became a long while until it came to pass that the blog is stagnating for so many years now. My reason is the hectic schedule of my work in the office.
