YouTube monetization update.

YouTube monetization update.

So I just found out about this new YouTube policy about monetizing your videos via CPM of views. I was looking through some MMORPG gameplays on YouTube when I stumbled on Swifty's video about YouTube monetization wherein he said that he isn't getting any more revenue from his uploads which have more or less a million views per popular videos. So basically, you get money per thousand views of your videos aside from the ads right. But he said that there is more to that. This is what I noticed a couple of weeks ago when I tried to "cheat the system" about the total views of one of my video (which by the way has 500+ views -_- ).

The thing this, YouTube now has a smart anti-spam/bot feature wherein all views from the same IP will be considered as 1 view. In case you are wondering, on the previous years, you can just spam refresh a video when it reaches to like 10 to 30 seconds and the number of views will also increase. So people took advantage of that and build bots to do those instead. And yes, they have headquarters paying people to do that. They probably have softwares that changes their IPs every minute so that YouTube will think that nothing fishy is going on.

Another thing, to all gamers out there who are uploading their gameplays on YouTube, all revenues that you earn on a certain video will automatically be -50%. It's one of YouTube's policy wherein racist, discrimination and other violent videos will be deducted drastically and the sad part is, video games are on that list. Also, any bad or curse words, there is a penalty for that as well.

Cheers!

When you are paid for views, it is always the policy of the website to recognize all views from the same IP as 1 view. I have not checked this policy, but I knew there was something like this. I have participated in many websites that paid through views. In order to prevent spam and bot, these websites recognized one view per one IP.

That's also my understanding that views pertain to an IP and not the actual view which means you can view a video many times using the same computer and reflect only 1 view in the counter. The anti-bots surely are doing its job because I also hate bots because they muddle the numbers and false views are not fair. With the revenue sharing, we have one video recently that was denied monetization for no clear reason. Anyway, that video is a personal one and not really for the money but more for affording our circle to view the funenal of an aunt.

As what I said on my post, that is not the case before on YouTube. They would consider different sub-ips under one main IP because there are households and schools who use the same IP. And it would be selfish if all those 100 people connected to the same IP would be treated as one view. If you have a video and you are promoting it, you go to a bar where there are 1,000 people and they offer to watch your video, don't you think it's a waste? 1000 people viewing your video under the same IP. Those people have different opinions too. But yeah, YouTube changed it because there are now people having bots just to exploit and abuse the system.

Thanks for updating us on this, I also think it's good for them to be able to know views from one IP address that's how it was supposed to be, For me I think they took too long to start that anti spam plus the policy of discriminations ... I'm glad they are being serious on this, By the way while reading this I wondered what Seo offers, Is it views from the same one bot or is it from real different people?

I am not exactly sure what you mean by that question. As I said, if it comes on the same IP, it will be treated as 1 view no matter how many times you watch it. But I think there is also a time frame for this to avoid spam. I am thinking every 20 minutes per view? Not really sure. As per the bots, they have scripts on how to execute those configs. I believe that there are still people using bots. Technology is advancing pretty fast but people who use those technology are always one step ahead.

I somehow feel bad but this is good for Youtube in order to utilize each view from videos. For aspiring Youtubers this is rather unfair seeing as how there is a huge decrease in revenues. One cannot earn that much anymore unless he has a million viewers and thousands of subscribers. I was able to earn 60$ but then this update came and my earnings become slower and so I won't be able to cash out anytime soon, because of the 100$ threshold.

That's what I thought too. New aspiring YouTubers would feel that it is somehow unfair to them because of the things that have happened back then and now they are struggling to increase their views. It's not that we tolerate system abuse but if that's how they feel, then they can't really do anything about it.

The new rule of 10k views for monetization seems to be filtering a lot of spammers. I have seen some of the video stealers. Who are also getting the adsense update. And they seem to be doing alot better with that. And so for this reason it's better to get the 10k views. So this way you can see that not many end up spamming. And it can keep the youtube active. That needs to be taken care of as well.

If you have noticed too, a lot of YouTuber has been making videos regarding this update and how it affected them big time. Some have even pulled out since they are now getting less and less of revenues because of the new policy about racial and curse/trash words which are really common on YouTube specially if you have a gaming channel.

One more rule of the "low or no ads". That seems to be affected a lot. My channel has few videos being flagged as well. And I am not sure how much time it takes for the system to clear those videos. I am into TechNiche so it can be harder for me to make videos and get low ads. But based on what I have found out it'd be reasonable to say that youtube seems to be doing good on many things but some are just plain bad.

Well, I knew that they would have done this ages ago... they left it alone for a long time considering how many people were literally getting ''free'' views by just refreshing or from one single IP. I understand that it can hurt those who earned through it but I believe that it's the right way. This is why I've also always avoided the different YouTube views services - they can easily be recognized by the system now and you will be banned for abusing it since most of those views are botted.

Good ol' days for those botters and spammers. I bet they have earned some revenues doing that. They can even pay a whole campus just to do the refresh thing. But yeah, the new update really solved it. But it is still a bad thing for those video owners who have subscribers or fans living on the same block or house or campus having the same IP.

I didn't know that, but I haven't tried to use Youtube for advertising or monetization purposes. I mean rules change and are enforced by many sites. Sadly, the changes that are made always seem to negative for those who are using the site. This seems to be the rule of thumb with internet sites sadly.

Lot of new updates are around. 10K visit per channel is the new rule. And they also do not allow to sign up for adsennse unless that point is acquired. You can see that many people who want to make use of the youtube channel need to reach that threshold. I have found out that it can be impossible to to make channnel and grow it overnight.

I tend to watch a lot of YouTube videos and curious how people are able to upload movies, crammed with ads and receive income from it. I was under the impression that it is supposed to be original content. I have been very tempted to follow their lead, however have never been one to break the rules.

Oh but they do receive income from it. Specially if their videos have hundreds of thousands of reviews. The thing is, those ads are also important for revenues. If by some chance people misclick those ads then it's a win for you. It may not give big revenues though, yet slowly but surely, it will all add up.

The policy is awesome, but like i always say the bad guys are always one step ahead , using the IP spam bots and algorithm in google's you tube monetization technique, permit me to say that people are already milking google dry and they might be in the edge of being broke in few years time. PS: this is my own analysis not based on any fact.
But as always the bad guys are always ahead, they will use an interchanging VPN and continue doing their thing. But the policy will cub some people who think they can cheat YouTube are also noobs. Too bad.

As what I keep saying from these fellow posters, it's always possible. They have more knowledge and could literally bypass any system securities in just a matter of seconds and minutes depending on the capability of the software or scripts that they are using.

The new rule this week is that youtube is manually choosing the videos for the monetization. So many videos from your channel may get flagged. And they maybe under the title of the Low or no ads. And this means your monetization can be affected. You can see that youtube takes time now to choosse channels which are suitable for the monetization. That seems like a bad idea for sure.

This is the first time that I’ve come across that discrimination of YouTube with the monetization of videos. I’m sure YouTube or Adsense has a sense in being selective with videos for monetization but it is unfair to small creators like us. Even the recent policy that requires a minimum of 1,000 subscribers for a channel to be eligible for monetization is discriminatory as if Adsense wants to eliminate the small video creators and have YouTube for big time video creators only.

You replied to 1 year old comment. That rule change happened 1 year back. Now the rules are even more strict. You can see that some of the people really needs to be working around channel. And make sure they are giving better content. So that way it'd be not that hard to work with the monetization. So based on that it is a bit of struggle.

I saw another YouTuber post about this as well which is awful. A lot of these YouTubers have built a loyal base of subscribers and they make most of their revenue from views so this is quite disturbing as it could mean that a lot of these YouTubers have to find alternative ways of making money or they may end up having to find other part-time jobs to survive. I can't remember if it is true but I think I read somewhere that said YouTubers now get about 5p per 1000 views which is awful considering how much work they have to put towards making a video.

To tell you honestly YouTube's monetization is only applicable to a select few who are the best in their niches. So basically only few people can earn good money from it. The rest are wasting their time.
