There are so many blogs out there – how can I stand out?

For my perspective, I think it all depends on you. You should write about things that you like or inspired you. You are different from everybody and also think different too. By putting more of yourself into the open, the more unique your blog will be. There’s nothing to be afraid of.

Firstly I believe that you must write about topics which are trendy. You must also research any topic well before writing about it. Make sure that you write quality articles for your blog and choose a good title. Quality content will definitely increase the traffic to your blog. You can also advertise your blog to attract more visitors.

I think content is king and you should write about things that interest you. When you put your heart and soul into a blog post your going to get a lot better response than something that you wrote to make a quick buck. Another thing you can do is find a blog in your niche that allows guest blogging. And write a nice high quality article for your guest blog post and link it back to your website.

Nowadays it's harder and harder to stand out in so big crowd of bloggers, but as Soulwatcher said, when you put your heart and soul into your blogging work, kind of uniqueness, people will recognize it and stick to it to become regular readers, then simple word of mouth can really make your posts go viral, specially if you use good "Call to action" and encourage them to share your work with their social friends

In all sphere of life,we always want to be outstanding and blogging is not an exception.

I will say have a unique blog, way of writing, different pattern of discussion and don't be afraid to throw one or two different ideas.

Go for a niche that is less popular and build on it.Don't give up,be consistent and be passionate about it.

This is the usual question of new bloggers - how can your blog stand out. Firstly, the blog should be well written and reader friendly. I have encountered blogs that are kilometric in length and were written like literary pieces. It's not fun to read and actually boring since I have a short attention span in reading. A page or 2 would be enough for me and longer than that would make me exit the webpage. The next thing that I want to find in a blog are relevant pictures. Much more if the photos are interesting or humorous, that would be catchy to me. But for the blog to stand out, you need to gather readers. So that's the third step, think of a way to get people to read your blog and a good blog will spread and be shared.

Writing on print and writing a blog are very different. Flowery language might go well with print, however, when you are writing, you have to write straight forward. When you are writing online, you should always
think about search value of the content. Online writing also requires SEO and Digital Marketing skills.

I think you can stand out of the crowd by tackling different topics. So you have to focus on the topics the most. You can't really focus on the topics which don't earn much in that case. Blogs these days are focusing on simplicity and handling different topics. This way things can surely change. So based on that part, I can tell you that blogging is not an easy feat. You have to hustle and work harder to establish yourself. That is how this needs to be viewed further.

Yes, not all topics make the same money. Some topics attract high paying advertisers, thus, you as a publisher will earn more, and some topics attract low paying advertiser and you as a publisher will earn less. You should always focus on topics that attract lot of traffic and advertisers put more money. These topics are generally referred as the commercial topics.

I absolutely agree with you. I am a passionate baker and chef at home. So, I write two blogs dedicated to Asian recipes and my baking experiences. I found international traffic coming in for chicken recipes and local breakfast recipes.

I know that when I visit the blogs that are in my interests, I am looking for solid content. I am looking for a consistent poster, and by consistent, I mean that the blog posts occur on a regular basis and that they are always dependable in terms of content I can learn from and/or be entertained by. I like a blog whose posts show a bright and inquisitive mind and the mind of a good writer dedicated to his or her subject, theme, genre, and niche. As Soulwatcher said above, "content is king", and when it comes to a successful blog, I don't think anything could be more true.

In any website, content is the primary attraction. People might like your website based on the design, however, they will stay on your website to read contents. If the contents are unattractive, they will leave your site soon. Therefore, you should focus on content. Your website should also have fresh contents. People do not trust the website if it has not been updated since a long time.

There will always be a website, blog or forum that is similar to yours and that will always be a problem. The only thing you can do to try and get around that is to try and differentiate yourself from those similar blogs. By making sure to have your own style of writing or by trying to write unique content, you can attract a lot of new readers to your blog. It's difficult of course, it's not an easy job.

I agree that it's not easy to stand out when we have thousands of blogs all over the internet. Many of them discuss the same topics or offer nothing new - so this is where you should come in. You want to be unique, creative and provide the readers/visitors something new. It doesn't have to be a brand new topic that has never been written about before but at least a new point of view on it. You can even stand out in the way you approach things and the way you write. Also, I believe that promotion besides the good quality content is the key.

There were many blogs out there, before those who stood out came on the blog plane, there came and stood out above others, that were there already. So it actually depends on what you have to offer, what can you bring to the table?. And when it comes to blogging, content matters, if you can provide quality content and good SEO optimization, and persistence accompanied with patience, then you are already half way to standing out.

This is a very good and legitimate question and something that all people who blog need to learn to deal with. I think first and foremost, be yourself, and write about what interests you. Hopefully your passion and your expertise will shine through and people who are attracted to you and your style of writing will come back for more.

As someone who is not a blogger, this is an issue that I've wondered about myself. Having personality and good content is a must, but for me, I like to read blogs that have something to offer me as well. I follow blogs on design, motion graphics, video and photography in order to learn new techniques, about new technology, and software so that I can increase the skills that I have. For me, blogs aren't so much about entertainment for me, but about what sort of practical skills I can gain from reading them.

This might be a different way of consuming blogs than most people do, but maybe that gives a different perspective for you too.

First of all, you need a niche that is in high demand but does not have enough contents on the web. Instead of publishing contents on general topics, try to develop contents based on readers interest. You can find out what people are reading on the internet by checking Google Keyword Planner Tool or Google Trends.
Secondly, you should avoid publishing on current topics. When you publish on current events, you will lose traffic over the time. However, if you are publishing evergreen contents, your traffic will continue to rise.
Thirdly, your contents need to be unique and original.
Interesting and useful contents will have your blog stand out.

  1. Find a niche your passionate about
  2. Write original and quality content (there's a lot of sites out there but no all of them are good)
  3. Use creative images to drag attention
  4. Take those photos yourself
  5. Tag everything!
  6. Be opinionated, don't just write generic opinions.
I hope this work for you! Good luck...

These days, unless you have an email list or a very popular website or forum, then you wouldn't be able to stand out. I am certain that everyday, all around the world, there are hundreds or thousands of aspiring blogger writing or putting up new blogs about almost everything and just like you, they are also thinking about how their blogs will stand out from the rest! And it's a very tight and rough competition but that's just how it goes now. Unlike before, way back, where blogs weren't a thing. But now, even kids are already blogging!

Every blogger has unique way and tone of writing and I believe you have also your own. But the most important skills that a blogger must have is the ability to capture the emotion and sympathy of the readers. You should be able to address whatever their problems that is related to your blog. If you could help many people, they will like you and they will trust you. Success to your blogging career comes later when you are able to help many people. Standing out in the blogging arena is great, but helping first is much greater.

It's impossible to avoid sounding like everyone else. In fact, you might sound a lot like other people. Nonetheless, we can all put our own personal flavor into things. In other words, we can put in personal stories and opinions. Anyway, do you feel a person can mostly be original or is it just the icing on the cake?

Doing something different is the right way to go about. There are lots of niches that you can place your blog on and try to dominate the market from there. In as much as it won't be easy, doing so will help the blog in a positive way.

In order to stand out your blog needs a terrific, attractive and vibrant design. After that, your content must be on point. It's not so much about standing out, but finding a profitable spot within the large group of blogs that already exist online. Through that you build an audience. Once you've done that, then you can work on competing on an elite level.

I would say that focusing on your core audience is the most important thing. Trying to be popular following trending topics is difficult, especially since it is you chasing rather than leading. So, know who you want as your target audience, identify the topics that are important to them, and then just start publishing high-value content.

If you really want to stand out, you should choose a niche that is snot well explored yet and slways stay away from heavily saturated topics. For example, if your niche is travel, you might never succeed, however, if you break down the topic and concentrate on niches like traveling to the Caribbean, you might have a chance to stand out. Well, Caribbean might also be a broader niche, consider breaking down to traveling to Jamaica.
You should also stay away from using keywords that have high competition.

I agree that a rare or unique niche has a better chance of standing out but not exactly reaching success. Take for instance the life of penguins which can only be found in the Antarctica or south pole. I guess it is one unique niche. But are there people who will be interested in penguins? For sure there are but how many? I would rather choose a common niche and work on it. There are many ways to be a stand out blog especially if you include on your blog interesting pictures and videos.

You need to come up with unique blog niche, however, there is no point in being 1 of 1. In other words, if the topic you chose does not get a lot of search hits, you do not have any chance of becoming successful. You should look for the topic that is not well explored, yet it receives substantial search hits. You should focus on keywords that get 500-5000 monthly hits.
