Best way to make a video go viral?

Viral videos, especially on YouTube, can turn your business into a successful one overnight. It has happened and worked for many people but nobody has discovered the real formula that would work 100% of the time.

Most people believe that the best feature for a video to go viral is either something cute or something that is extremely funny. I have tried both before but didn't have great success.

So what is your opinion on this? What do you think is the best way to make a video go viral?

I had to quote your post because the texts were very small! Best way to make a video go viral?

Back on topic. Almost everything that you share now as long as you make it interesting, will surely make it viral. One very good way and very effective too, is by using click baits. Yep, I know, I hate click baits too. But it seems to be working these days because a lot of people on the Internet won't even bother reading the whole description of the link - they'll just go click right away specially if you put a play icon on the thumbnail? That works 90% most of the time.

I also wanted to try but I feel like I can't do it. But I always look at this photo whenever I want some motivation and inspiration. And I suggest you do the same.

That video on YouTube would probably have a million views in just a couple of months. Here's the link.

IF THEY CAN DO IT! WE CAN DO IT TOO! HAHAHA

EDIT: Don't bother try doing that on other chairs if they aren't blue. It doesn't work. I tried it. I couldn't pick the non-blue chair off the ground. These guys are pure geniuses.

I don't think I would be interested in using clickbait. People tend to resent those kinds of pitches so I don't think it would be something that I would want to use comfortably. I just think that it is one of those aspects of marketing that is kind of odious actually. I don't think it would work.

If you read again his post, and try to understand it a little more, he is asking for another ways aside from making a cute or happy video go viral. So let us give him options and one of them options, will surely be clickbait. As long as the video goes viral, mission accomplished, right?

I hate clickbait honestly. The vlogger should not put a wrong information in the title of their videos just to earn click and views from their audience. I feel like this was another way of fooling people. The title should be related in the content of the whole videos. The title itself mislead the whole videos. This is unfair because we expecting the video was relevant from the title but its not.

I've been solidifying my research topic for grad school, and I've recently decided that I'll be looking at viral marketing techniques for my thesis. I'm of the same mindset that I want to know what makes a video go viral, and how we can use that in marketing to get our message, brand, product, and service out to massive numbers of people for minimal cost.

I haven't started my research yet, but I'd be happy to share it once I've started digging! I feel like it's not just about having interesting content, but it's about interesting delivery as well. Take Old Spice for example. I think they were one of the first companies to really lock in a formula for viral marketing via YouTube. Their Terry Crews commercials would go viral every time because of the over-the-to mentality of the ads and the in-your-face delivery. Old Spice found a formula that worked for them and stuck with it.

I can't wait to start researching this!

Thanks to galegatling for copying your message. I don't think I could ever have read it without copying it. Not sure why you wanted to choose that font lol. But anyway, you can't make a video to go viral. These things just happen out of nowhere. A lot of these viral videos are just posted and they suddenly get popular out of nowhere. The best thing you can do is to try and come up with something interesting

Well, i think making a video to go viral is an art of it's own, some make their videos go viral by making it controversial, others by making it extremely funny and others by making it unique. There is exactly no formula for this, but one thing you need to know is that the video, must be able to stand out from the rest, that's been unique in most cases.

most videos that go viral are sexual or controversial videos and maybe some unique videos.

To make yours viral you must buzz it you rself and others will only support..
So continue creating them, share them on almost all platform and buzz for sometime.

Yeah, you're right, sexual wrapped videos are meant to go viral, because that's what triggers the attention of the average homo-sapiens. That's why most video makers make their thumbnails to have some sexual content spiced on it, to get you to click, even when it has nothing to do with the video. Click bait alert. I noticed that any video on Kpop idol scandals and gossips go viral very quickly when the fans edited the real facts.

We also created funny videos and unique ones but going viral seems to be elusive. There is one of our videos that went viral some 5 years ago. It is a music video that is funny. But I think it's not the reason why it got 200k views. We changed the title to include the phrase sex scandal. The video was a song about a guy who became gay so that makes it for a sex change or sex scandal figuratively though. So maybe if you will use a catchy title that is relevant in the current trend then you can have a viral video. Kpop or Kdrama are examples of trendy words now.

There's no one answer to this. Most of us can't give you a straight answer because there is just not one way. Videos go viral out of sheer luck and coincidence. You see videos of babies doing mundane things going viral. Then you see videos of kids graduating from high school that gets little views. In order to go viral in my opinion, your video needs to have some relatability factor as well as something to appeals to the pathos (emotions) of your audience. Even a disturbing or boring video can go viral just for being incredibly polarizing. Your video should also fill a unique niche. The first video on Youtube is of some guy at a zoo. You might think it won't get a lot of views because well, it's a guy at the zoo, but you have to consider that it's famous for being the first video on Youtube. That fact is something about which no other video can boast. Then, timing is pretty critical. If your video is controversial, like about politics, or getting in trouble with Johnny Law, people want to be entertained or live vicariously through you. None of what I said is a guarantee. Honestly, it's just like selling things in the real world. If you try your best, and it's meant to be, you will succeed. If not, you just have to move on and try again if you want to.

I think most of the facebook groups and the forums can be used. I have seen many forums usually help keep the video go viral. They share or watch the content. And this way it goes viral. Sharing the video through page also works. But usually youtube videos are stolen on facebook. And that leads to more of an issue than solution. I think for this reason i'd surely prefer to make videos viral through the social media.

I don't think there is a specific formula to get your video to go viral, but there are definitely some trends you could take advantage of to maximize your chances. For example, there are a few topics or subjects that always get a lot of views, such as filming pets doing something cute. There are also some steps you could take to help you publicize your videos such as signing up with the right partners who will market and monetize your videos for you, or just simply by engaging in the right social media groups. I have seen a lot of videos where people seem to be forcing themselves to go viral and a lot of the times it doesn't seem to work, because I think people can feel when something is organic and when something is forced.

Content is the kind, therefore, in order to make your video go viral, the content of your video must be interesting, useful and informative. But the main question is what is interesting, useful and informative?
Have you ever checked on youtube to find out what kind of videos are going viral? The videos that are on controversial topics or the trending topics are the videos that are likely to succeed on youtube. Check Google Trends and see what most of the people are searching on the internet. So some research to find out whether there are good contents on the topic that is trending? If there are few contents, create a video based on the trending topic, it will have elements to go viral.

I think even before thinking about how to make a video something viral, you have to think a little about the content that will be associated... I mean, the basic question would be: Does this content really have any chance to becoming something viral?

After that, I think the "strategies" should be discussed.

I myself am having trouble getting YouTube videos to viral. I think it all starts with having interesting content. Without interesting content, your video would not go viral. What content is considered interesting that you could actually do yourself? Here are some:
  • Controversial stuff - talk about conspiracy theories, aliens, politics, religion etc.
  • Cute animals - cats, dogs, and other critters that would make you go aww.
  • Pranks - people find pranks funny. Try watching just for laughs videos to get ideas.
  • Social experiments - you'd be surprised to see millions of views for social experiments. Like how many women would agree to kiss a guy she met in the street. Etc.
  • Insects - go find some bugs in your back yard and make them fight. You'd be surprised at the number of views you're gonna get.
  • Sports highlights - boxing, tennis, nba... Just be careful of copyright claims.
I could mention more but I think I'll spare them for another thread. Anyways, once you have interesting content, that's the time you could use clickbait.

To make a video go viral, you need to promote it through social media channels first. If the video is controversial or very intense, sharing it through social media a few times will be all you need to do. From there, it'll be shared with many others and may even end up becoming a trending topic.

I don’t think that sharing in social media is a guarantee for a video to go viral but I agree that something controversial can make the grade sometimes. We have one video that is an mtv style with the song that was composed by my husband. The video is about the transformation from a man into a gay. It was supposed to be a funny video but the promotion we did was to make it appear controversial. That video got 200,000 views because it was shared all over the world.
