Well regarding your question about whether or not you need to create original content, I would say that would be a huge benefit. If you're trying to sell a service here, you're going to want to show people that you know what you're talking about. It is the same as applying for work as a designer, or looking to find work as a freelancer. You're going to have a hard time attracting work if people aren't sure that you know what you're talking about, and they're going to turn to someone else that has proof. I would definitely recommend occasionally posting and promoting your original content.

I suppose you can use Facebook as often as much as you like. There are plenty stuff on Facebook you could never overdo it as there are many things to try. Like, pages, groups there is so much on facebook but don't just be on Facebook and Twitter also try other sites like Stumbleupon and Tumblr, Even Reddit you can make a Subreddit page dedicated to your work. Before you create subreddit tho I suggest you be part of the community till you build karma up. It is ideal having a subreddit as Reddit can drive a lot of traffic if you use correctly. I have a psychicdevelopment subreddit not long been up and I have over 129 subscribers so far and its starting to grow and so is traffic.

Find out groups where there seems to be demand for such skills. And then from there you can get the leads. You can do this 1 hour per day. And then build your portfolio. That should be more than enough time. One lead gets to another. And this cycle leads to more or less different way of the customers. I personally think that finding leads this way is definitely possible if you know how to make sales.

You cannot just post in Facebook as often as you want because that will be tantamount to spamming. I agree that you can join groups that are in the same niche or genre and from thereon you can establish your presence and make interesting posts that hopefully the group members will react positively. If you cannot find a Facebook Group then you can create one and invite members there.

Yes indeed. Having some gap in between the post is the way to go. Most of the people who post on facebook understand that part. And it can be difficult if the person gets reported as spam. He or she may end up taking more captcha for each post being posted.

I don't think one can overdo sharing on Facebook, I drive traffic to my site daily and I share all my published post on there.You just have to write a good review about your skill or product then post on your account preferably tagging your friends along and they'll get to see it.You could instruct them to help you like it to go far.

I have been using FB Live to teach English. At first, I did it using a group. Then I found out that using a page to do a live session has some extra features. So now I do my teaching from a page.

This is where I can see what the response is like to my broadcasts. I can see the number of people reached and the number of video views. I cannot find any other information.

I did boost some of my videos. Then I get more information. I can see the gender distribution, the age spread and the area coverage. I suppose paying for it makes the information more detailed. Not too much, though. I paid about $1 to get 1k video views. Not a bad deal.

Create a business page and try to promote it as much as you can. You can also use Facebook advertisements to promote your business page and then people may decide to visit your website if they are interested enough. I have noticed a lot of people advertising their website straight away from personal accounts and on comments of popular posts and most people just ignore them so I wouldn't try to go down that route.

Yeah, it all boils down to advertisement, even if you don't have a Facebook page, which is not recommendable though, you most still use your personal account o advertise your services. Because to get to your audience you must advertise.

I think it is wise of you to question this. Some people may tend to react negatively to overkill on Facebook ads. There are other places you can advertise though like Reddit, Tumblr and others. I would simply take my time and look carefully before deciding to advertise on Facebook extensively.

I mean, as long as you don't go over the top on posting Facebook advertisements then I'm sure people won't react too negatively to them. But of course, like you said, it may also be good to advertise on a lot of different sites and social media sites as well especially Twitter and Reddit. I'm not too sure about Tumblr to be honest with you, I have never tried advertising on it. Is it good?

I'm not even sure about Reddit. I see ads there all the time, but I'm not too sure about how much traffic they get. I even said on another post that posting links in subreddits could be spam. It's better to create an art account on Tumblr or an account related to something you do that will show off your skills, rather than just advertising first.

Reddit and tumblr do not convert. You don't get much business on those sites. It's pure entertainment. And people ignore the ads on those sites. So it can be really bad in that case. I would say that facebook and the twitter seems to be current good options. I think some ads work better on adwords too. But I think facebook is in question here. I'd say image ads work on it.

I think the most important aspect to be considered in answering that question is the kind of business you have.

I mean, regardless of whether it's something small or big, Facebook's use will of course be differentiated because they will demand different jobs with different time loads as well.

There is no way to set a certain number of hours for this.

I agree. Some small business may not benefit from spending so much time on the web. Instead just using the PPC ads alone would be more than enough. And we have to be thinking about how to get things properly sorted with the facebook post boost as well. So if we consider that as an option I think it's possible to seriously do something good with the facebook. I am not sure though there are some really good options with the facebook. it just takes a lot of time to properly balance things out.

The big problem related to Facebook as an advertising tool, is the misuse that is made of it. I mean, some people think bigger than the actual business they currently have (not that this is something wrong to think about, but you can't disrupt the growth processor).

I'd say you could do both or one of the other. For instance, some might simply want to redirect FB traffic to a post on their personal blog and/or might just make the Facebook page or group a blog. Either way, the viewers are getting exposed to your writing and are getting a sales pitch.

Anyway, whatever way you choose, you're not overdoing it. It's simply the price of a successful business. I don't see a way around it - unless you want to hire someone else to do the posts - but in that case, it's still getting done, though.

Just share the link of your website at FB and Twitter once a week and see how the traffic flows. If no result, you have to try OTHER social medias. FB alone doesn't work for me.

Growth should be organic and you can achieve this just by using Facebook. However, growth may not be as fast as you expect (and this ends up frustrating many people).

Working with multiple tooling options is a great idea, but it should be a very thoughtful step not to cause even more frustration and waste of time.

It can be really frustrating, because it's not easy to get people to see your posts or view your pages, and most Facebook users have been injected with the phobia of clicking links, you will see them mostly saying "He thinks we are gonna click the link haha", so it's really frustrating generating organic views, except you give them an offer they can't refuse with your content or creativity

Take note that frequent posting of an ad in Facebook is considered by others as spamming. Frankly, I am annoyed when I see promotional posts several times a day by a single person. I'd say one post a day is tolerable and it should be creative so the reader would not think outright that you are just promoting. You can make it appear as sharing of information. And if you don't have a Facebook page yet, I would suggest that you create one where you can put the details of your business.

You are absolutely right here. I unfollowed some people on Facebook as all that I could find on my homepage was their posts and this was getting really annoying. I think that one or two posts are fine. Creating a Facebook page is a must for any business. I have a Facebook page for my business and I have been able to grow my customer base due to Facebook.

I think it's good for you to do a little bit of both. People need to see what they are buying before they buy it, right? People also respond better to non-intrusive advertising. You don't want them to think you are pushy, but at the same time, you need to make money. Depending on the situation, you can be subtle and just show off your work. After people have seen it, then you can start advertising. The people you advertise to will already be familiar with your work, and you will be more trustworthy because you have an audience that likes your work.

You should be using Facebook as often as you can, there is no crime or penalty that comes with excess using of Facebook. And for your information, Facebook is one the leading site for traffic generation, so it's importance can not be overemphasized. Try thinking outside the box, try creating some few contents and post, then you link it on your Facebook page. And if you have money, you can try out Facebook Ads, it's your best bet.

I use Facebook every day (except Sundays). I recommend it.

For one thing, you can go through your “Facebook Memories” and clean up broken links. There were things I shared years ago that don't exist any more. There were things I shared that do exist but need to be updated and recycled. I've been on Facebook for over 5 years. Even if you don't socialize you should sign in to Facebook just to clean up the mess you've left behind.

I also sign in to chit chat with like-minded WAH (work at home) professionals and to be active in the Facebook Groups. I also use it for friends and family. But mainly it's for my home business aspirations.

It's awesome to use Facebook and all, but you have to realize that probably only around 3 percent of people are looking at your post (assuming you're not paying). In that case, it could be a waste to spend a lot of time posting on pages when only small numbers are actually seeing it. However, though, a lot of small numbers add up.

I think your business does need a Facebook page, but I would not expect it to drive much traffic to your logo design website. I would recommend using LinkedIn and Twitter more. Moreover, there are so many logo design services out there that you will need really compelling content. In fact, if you live in a large market, you may want to use your social media to target local or hyperlocal businesses, rather than going large scale. Competing with larger services has some challenges and focusing locally will give you a greater ability to personize content.

I'm OK with the suggestion to use Twitter but I don't get much out of my LinkedIn account. In fact, I connected my LinkedIn to my Twitter so that whenever I post to LI it also posts to Twitter. You can get a lot of mileage out of Twitter.

I suggest you make a seperate account for your business or make pages about your business and services. This will seperate your job from your daily facebook rituals. Don't use facebook when you are in time of work and limit posting in your real account about work related things and whatsoever.

I find the replies here to be very helpful. I also think creating original content will be better but it depends on the niche. Using both twitter and Facebook is very helpful and I have also been using them for two years now. When you get people to know what you are doing, you will be able to now focus fully on the niche without worrying about traffic.

There's no such thing as overdoing it on Facebook. You are trying to drive traffic to your newly published site, in doing so, you'll need every available resource, channel or medium to reach out. Personally, I dont think you should take a break on facebook. Go ahead and do it as much as you want...its not like there's a usage limit on Facebook. I was just preparing to launch a series of attacks after reading the topic of the thread. How often should I use Facebook? Well, that was till I went through the entire thread. So I guess now I can say you have a good reason for asking.

I don't think there's any rule stated anywhere for how long or often one can use Facebook. I think Facebook is the best channel for promoting a site. With over 2billion users and hundreds of millions of sign ins everyday, your potential reach is endless. I've personally used Facebook to increase my reach of readers and followers for my blog from a few tens of people to thousands of active visitors in just a few months. Yes, I paid for some of the ads, but trust me Facebook ads are relatively cheap in comparison to twitter and other social media platforms.

You can say that Facebook is my preferred means of reach to the social populace. And that's because its simply the best at what it does.

NB: Facebook didn't pay me to say all this.

I have a friend who is an artist. She keeps on posting some of her works but posting on her own was not enough to promote her artworks so what she did was she joined a lot of groups which is related to her hobby and skills so basically its about drawing, graphic designing, anime artists, illustrators and so on and so forth. She do share for share to her co - artists. Share for share is actually a kind of trade so basically what you will do here is -- example you are an amateur artist who wants to promote your illustrations. You should join a lot of groups and be friendly to your co artists. If you have a friends who do received a lot of likers or who already known /famous in fb you should chat and have conversation to them that you will do sharing his /her artworks in return to sharing also with your artworks or post. But of course you should keep on creating and updating your artworks and keep on posting your updated works. What she did also was art trade. What I also noticed was she shared her post that she will going to have a contest about picking 3 people to received a portrait drawing or anime version of their self but the requirements were: they will going to like the page and share her post. So I think creating some activity like contest and art trades or what ever your skill is /are are one of strategies in promoting a page or works. Since you are creating logos, you can post in Instagram and do the hashtags I am not sure tho if its effective coz' my friend (the one I had mentioned above) able to find an employer. That employer just message her directly if she wanted to work with him as an artist to his business without any referral. Just keep on posting of your updated works so i think posting is a must and it was told by my friend.

I agree that Facebook may not be the right platform for the services you are offering. I think that you can certainly use Facebook as a secondary platform but not your primary platform. I would recommend you use services like Fiverr, Seo Clerks, Upwork and Guru e.t.c.You can use Facebook groups e.g in blogging to advertise further your services. You need to be careful because Facebook can ban you for spamming.You can also use listing services like Craigslist.
