7 of the top concerns a business has when they decide to hire an SEO company

Companies around the world will always have concerns when it comes to investing in the unknown, and we all know SEO is the biggest unknown when it comes to making your business more successful.  Not knowing exactly what is going to happen, after the initial investment is placed, is hard to face when you're the business fronting the money for someone to work their magic on the search engines.  These businesses see that you're running a service that is suppose to increase their rankings within the search engines, which will bring in more website traffic, but it also has a unpredictable time frame.  The fact that no one can predict how long SEO takes is one of the main reasons companies won't sign up for it.  The unpredictable time frame is also the main reason you see the excuse "SEO doesn't work" being posted around the internet lol.

I'm here to tell all companies, SEO DOES WORK, and it works well if you're trying to capitalize on all the search engine traffic for your niche.  Sure, it might not happen overnight, but you can't build a house overnight either!  Something that is done right will take time, and you will be grateful that the company you hire did take their time to boost your rankings.

In this discussion I'll be going over the top 7 reasons most companies have concerns about investing into SEO.

ROI from SEO
Any company that is thinking about investing into their own SEO will always think of the ROI that will come from it.  Sure, some companies don't need to invest into SEO because the amount of traffic to their niche could be extremely little.  On the other hand, there are small companies that MUST invest into SEO if they want to have a fighting chance in the rankings within the search results of any search engine.

Search engines have an immense amount of traffic, and if you're in a competitive niche, the profits coming to your website could be in the millions.  Investing into a proper SEO campaign can easily yield a 10/1 ROI because you could pay $1,000 a month for the work to be done and profit $10,000 a month when everything starts to fall in place 7 of the top concerns a business has when they decide to hire an SEO company  Sure, it does take time, but the saying "You have to spend money to make money" is actually true.  If you're not spending money, you're spending thousands of hours learning SEO on your own in order to boost your rankings lol.

The Time frame
Like I mentioned in the beginning, the time frame for any SEO campaign is an estimate.  No SEO company can tell you exactly how long it will take to boost your rankings to the first page.  If you do come across a company that tells you how many days, weeks, or months it will take exactly... You should avoid them.  They will give you an exact time frame because they want your money.  They don't really know how long it takes, but a good company can give you a 3-6 month estimate or even a 12 month estimate after they do some research on your competition.

A lot of companies won't invest into SEO because they don't know how long they will be paying for something that they aren't sure will even work.

The Technical side of SEO
Most business owners aren't going to know much about design and programming, so the technical jargon will usually go over their head.  If you don't understand what meta descriptions and meta titles are, you're in a very large boat with many other business owners, but don't worry, there are plenty of great companies that can help you along the way lol.

Just like a big law that gets written up, most people will be lost when they read through it, and that's because of the wording that is used within it.  If you just figure out what they wording is, everything seems to make perfect sense.  That's how SEO works as well, and a lot of SEO companies are starting to catch on and now pitch to business owners in a way that simplifies everything they do.

Google Penalties
Think about it, when you were little how many times did your parent tell you to not do something otherwise you'd be in trouble?  Well, that's how webmasters feel when Google implements new rules to their algorithms.  The good thing about this is that the webmasters who know what they're doing can read up on the new updates and implement changes as they go, but not everyone will know how to do this.

Business owners around the world are afraid of hurting their websites, which is understandable, and if you pair that up with SEO paired with the unknown, people don't want to do it.

Doing SEO the right way, and hiring a good company that isn't the cheapest, will usually keep you safe from any penalty coming your way.

PR reasons
Back in the late 90's people would abuse the rankings through less than great techniques which would quickly lead to people talking about how they took advantage of the system.  Business owners of today don't want to be caught doing SEO because they think it's the same as back in the 90's like I just mentioned, which it isn't.  SEO can be purchased for a few bucks, but remember that the cheaper it is, the less quality you're usually getting.  If you paid $100 for a car, do you think it would be as nice as one that cost you $50,000?  Probably not lol.

No one will know you're doing SEO, not even the search engines, if you do it right.  This is why you should always hire a credible company to do the work for you instead of paying someone a few bucks and expecting to be on the first page in a week.

Keyword Targeting
A lot of companies get lost when it comes to targeting because it's a lot more difficult than it sounds.  It doesn't matter your niche, you likely have thousands of keywords you can rank for and bring in traffic from.

You can target words based on a few things such as search volume, competition, and even relevance.  You can also mix in all three of these targeting options and get a super targeted set of words that could result in a good amount of additional sales from free traffic coming through the search engines.

How complex it is
Most business owners know how complex SEO is, and that's one of the reasons it's not followed through with.  People want to know what they are getting, and if it's over complex just like SEO, they are usually not going to pay for it.  There are hundreds of things that come with SEO, and business owners aren't expected to know all of them, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be doing it.  I'll use a car as an example again, when you purchase a car do you know how everything under the hood works in order to get you from point A to point B?  Probably not.  As long as it works, you're happy, and that's how SEO should be treated as well.  You'll never know everything that is going on with SEO because it's always changing and the companies always have to alter their methods from year to year.

In conclusion
All of the concerns listed above are legitimate ones, but if you're working with a credible company, you don't need to worry about your business at all.  SEO isn't something you can do by yourself and see instant results, because it takes a while to do it properly and it also takes to to see your work yield any results.  If the company you work with is applying to all the guidelines, not spamming, and actually building great quality on your website as well as 3rd party niche related websites, you should be in good hands 7 of the top concerns a business has when they decide to hire an SEO company

These are some of the reasons that businesses who are not familiar should hire an SEO company. These are just some of the concerns when it comes to SEO that business owners should consider and don't necessarily do. They need to.

I think you're right when you say that it is all about the experience of hiring the right SEO that they lack and that's the reason this article is really good for any firm thinking of hiring one any day.

I think any business that is serious about making huge success should hire an SEO expert, we can't just be a jack of all trade.People specialize in different areas of life and the only way to have that great output is when you hire capable hands and with this success would be imminent.

Being Jack of all trade is not the right way to go about it and that is something the company should really think about at the end.

We might be jack of all trades, however, it is impossible to become master of all trades. You might be doing everything related to building the website, building contents, optimizing for search engines, social media marketing, and all such things, however, you will never be an expert on all of these areas. You might have expertise in a certain area and might have just rudimentary skills in other areas. Therefore, if you want to succeed, you have to focus on the area that you have better knowledge and hire an expert for other works.

I know that there are so many businesses in the internet where the owners have no idea of what SEO is all about. I have come in close contact with some website owners who were ignorant about SEO methods that I needed to explain in details before they understood. I guess those business owners who are not well versed with SEO should just hire an SEO specialist to do the SEO work for his site.

I think you're right when you said giving a short time frame to achieve a SEO is not the best way to go about it. There is need to have things sorted out within some time of 3-6 months when the ranking of the sites should have taken effect.

Yes, I mean Rome wasn't built in a day, and the SEO you need is probably not going to materialize out of no where. However, a few months time should be plenty. It shouldn't take years to put things into place for you. I think an SEO company is a good thing, but it must be well considered.

Yeah, a few months time is necessary for the SEO experts to do their work and that's what I was saying as well.

I totally agree with you especially about Google penalties,no site want to get into the bad side of Google or else one get doomed from the start, keyword targeting is another great reason because most are concern about whether they're targeting the right keyword so they need experts to use their professional eyes to help them out.All of the reasons you give up there are valid and most importantly the returns on investment, nobody needs a loss, so they need to know all of that.

That the mistake some companies make by trying to do the work themselves and not doing it well at the end of the the day.

I agree most with hiring trustworthy companies and paying more for it. A lot of people and businesses just underestimate things like this and never think of the consequences regardless of the industry they are hiring from. They think to themselves that they shouldn't spend more when there are cheaper options, but what they fail to recognize is that there must be some good reason why these higher priced services exist and why companies still choose to pay them despite the cheaper alternatives.

And it's good for them to understand the need to explain great experts to do the work and make the site rank better at the end.

I think Google penalty is one bad concern people have. We should not be relying much on the google. And instead we have to be mindful about where we are spending the money. And we have to understand how the tactics are being worked for the promotion of the website. I guess that is something most of the business learn from the experience. So we have to consider that in the right frame of mind.

Barida
I doubt we shouldn't be mindful of what happens in Google as it is the best search engine we have now at the end.

It is best no doubt about that. But it changes too frequent to pay attention. I mean we can't handle every monthly and weekly algorithm change. And it can be really hard in such case to work around such type of the algorithm too. So on that note I'd say it's better to be more cautious.

ROI or return on investment is the main consideration. When someone invests in SEO or marketing, he will be always thinking about higher returns. If there is no return or low returns, there will be a disappointment. A time frame is also important. The buyer is not going to wait forever to get the results. Therefore the seller should also be result oriented.

I wonder how those companies that hire an SEO specialist would compute for the ROI of that venture. That is the cost of hiring the SEO specialist vis-à-vis the income that the SEO rankings will generate. And since the SEO methods is not an exact science, there is practically no way to compute such figures. Maybe the best that you can come up with is the projection that the project will yield an estimated amount of profit. And if that comes true then the prediction is accurate otherwise there is an alibi for the failure.
