As a business, artist, freelancer, entrepreneur or whatever! Do you do/make podcasts?

Podcasts are basically audio files.

Usually of someone talking. Or reading something out.

They are getting much more popular than ever before.

Yet still, not many businesses, business owners, webmasters, bloggers, affiliate marketers, SEO's etc use them.

Why do we overlook podcasts?

Wait, are podcasts not worth looking at then?

How can podcasts help me / my business?

Podcasts are neat little audio files that contain information.

Usually in spoken format.

For example, a spoken (read out) version of one of your blog posts.

Including, any Call To Actions in it..

They are much more personable: You will connect with the speaker much more than you would words on a page.

They are much more influential: Hearing someone say "go and buy it now" is twice as effective as reading that on a page.

They are generally trusted more: People will naturally trust a real spoken voice than reading something on a website.

They have viralability: New word alert!? As a business, artist, freelancer, entrepreneur or whatever! Do you do/make podcasts? "viralability: how viral something is. Example, they can be easily shared/reshared downloaded, transmitted, bluetoothed, attached, emailed etc.

They get the job done: Podcasts are generally more effective at converting listeners than articles are for readers.

They're easy to make: All you got to do is record yourself speaking your article (or even get someone with a sexier voice to do it for you).

They can be repurposed over and over: Like MP3 files, you can rename them and send them out via syndication and distribution methods.

They can be useful for SEO: Like any media, you can insert META data into them such as descriptions, keywords, locations, website URLs, brand names etc

Some questions to ponder:

  • Do you make podcasts?
  • What is your process?
  • How / what do you use to do so?
  • What do you do with them?
  • Where do you upload them?
  • How do you promote them or use them to promote yourself?
  • What's some good podcasting tips advice pointers etc?
  • Are podcasts dead?
  • How long will people use podcasts for?
  • Will people ever stop using them?
  • What could "replace" the podcast?
  • Are podcasts an endangered species?
  • Are podcasts highly underrated or highly overrated?

What I was thinking, was getting someone to do voice overs for my services and that,

Do it all in a pitch / tv ad kind of way. You know, add a bit of life into it, maybe add a little jingle As a business, artist, freelancer, entrepreneur or whatever! Do you do/make podcasts?

Just read them out though basically.

Then put that in a podcast,

Up it to Soundcloud and the like,

Share it on my social channels and promote it yadda yadda and what not.

Do all of that fair game stuff!

Could even make videos out of it too I suppose.

Who's a good speaker / voice over seller on here for that you can word of mouth recommend?

Anyway yeah, podcasts, yes or no? If yes why yes if no why no?

How to make it happen and actually make a podcast...

Sometimes, all it takes is the word. Or words.

Words like, "challenge" and "steps".

Something like, I challenge you to complete these 3 steps.

  1. Step 1: Find an article you want to convert into a podcast.
  2. Step 2: Convert it yourself or hire someone as the voice over for it.
  3. Step 3: Upload and share the podcast to your site, social media sites etc.
Step 1 and even step 3 are the easy steps. It's step 2 that could be a bit tricky for a first timer. Especially if you don't want to do it yourself for whatever reason. Like not liking the sound of your own voice! I hate the sound of my voice when I hear myself played back loll... And honestly, I'd much rather here a sexy female voice say it someone with a nice accent, especially if she was talking in a really sultry tone I guess that would get me a lot of listeners right!? As a business, artist, freelancer, entrepreneur or whatever! Do you do/make podcasts? But I'd probably more opt for something general and said professionally whether it's a males voice or not as long as the English was good and the voice was nice.

Could you imagine listening to an hour long podcast spoken by someone who had a voice like Bianca Jackson from Eastenders? Rickkyyyy!!!! XD

A big cheers and blessings to all the SEOClerk community!

I don't make podcasts, but your posts are making me want to start dabbling in them to see what type of traffic I can generate for my own websites As a business, artist, freelancer, entrepreneur or whatever! Do you do/make podcasts?

Actually, I would love to see a discussion along the lines of "how to start your own podcast" and it would cover what equipment you need, what software would work best, the process that you talked about here, and pretty much anything else you need to get your voice heard by the masses As a business, artist, freelancer, entrepreneur or whatever! I had seen my niece doing a podcast and I was urging my husband to try it because he has many active followers in Facebook. But he is not keen on doing that because he said that it is a waste of time. He’s not even doing Facebook live video and had not tried it yet. But maybe if I can say that he could earn something from the podcast then he may agree to try podcasting just for the experience.

Podcast is a new types of SEO where the basic SEO fundamentals didn't got published yet now by any SEO specialist yet now. But also for describing your service you can take the help of podcast. It helps huge for some quick visitors. There are some types of visitors who only wants to hear the facts. Google has been using the podcast service on their RSS feed for long term. After long time it went to popular. Now a day every day I am finding new new podcast submission website. Hope it will be popular soon.

Thanks
Centurion

Depending on the kind of online business that you have to take care of and the nature and manner in which your message is required to be delivered would go a long way in determining whether or not you have to make use of podcasts.

I can remember when I was handling a pyramid networking scheme, information is needed spontaneously and typing takes too long unlike making and using podcasts to deliver your information.

I'm not that too experienced in a particular niche to make a podcast but I could see how podcast attracts more people to subscribe to those online marketers. It's an effective marketing strategy to promote your brand and products.

Podcasts are really not what I am into at the moment. The truth is that there are a whole lots of things that I can get happening with educating articles instead of having to make podcasts. It is become popular, but some where I stay don't even know much about it.

So? Podcasts are basically like the old school radio broadcasts. Your 3 steps are so simple. I have a Tumblr account and noticed that some of the free templates have audio. Now I get it!

RE a couple of your questions:
  • How long will people use podcasts for?
  • Will people ever stop using them?
Uuumm … I still listen to the radio! The first radio news broadcast was in 1920.

When it comes to these modern inventions and forms of communication my philosophy is:
~ Welcome the new. DO NOT throw out the old!

The problem with podcast is you need a lot of time to do it effectively. Surely you can do one at your desired schedule but how many would be seeing it? You need time and effort to advertise so that relevant audience can join it.

Right now if you want a lot of viewers you need to choose YouTube or Facebook as your platform, because it's what the majority of people are using.

I think that podcasts are great. However I think they work better when they are by someone who is already established. A good example of podcasts that get a high number of downloads are Oprah, super soul Sunday and Tim Ferris. This is because they are already established. For someone that is just starting out, I don't think that podcasts would really work because unless your content is super, super useful, you won't get an audience.

I have a niece who has a client-based business which involves consultation. She is considered a motivational coach that her clients want to hear from her every day. With the need for exposure to her clients, she does a podcast every day for 2 hours. It is like a radio program that her clients can text her questions that she answers on the spot. That business probably requires a podcast. However, not all businesses can benefit from a podcast like if you are selling products that don’t need continual consultation like appliances then you probably don’t need a podcast for your business.

When I was learning online publishing, I received lessons as articles, videos and podcasts. As a content developer, I have produced a lot of text based contents. I have not published too many videos however, I have tried producing video contents. However, I have never tried podcasts. It is easy to create podcasts than video or even articles. Video creation needs a lot of technical skills, in order to create a good article you need language and writing skills. However, for podcasts all you have to have is a good diction and basic recording equipment.

I think this is also a good way of online publishing and promoting a business. It is also fun hearing your voice making such an advertisements that you may hear on the radio or in any other advertising platforms. I'd like to give it a try on podcast, soon.

I have not tried it but I am willing to do it. Podcast really make sense to make it as a business but If your target is youngsters they would love to watch and play video games than listening podcast. It is because listening is boring to them compare to watching and playing video games that could give them challenges.

I think the podcast is a good start but the issue is the monetization. You have to find that too. But I like the idea of reading stuff. You can see that podcast can reach people around the world. And that information can be valuable. So in terms of the content you can see that topic finding. And also making use of the podcasting there can be a good start as well. It takes time though it's not an easy thing from what I have seen so far.

It's a good idea to diversify your content. Nonetheless when one wants to do something well then you need to know how it is done lest you end up profiting not from your hard work. That said, can anyone share some more tips on how somebody can promote their podcasts?

Does one promote a podcast the same way you would any content? Share a link on social media perhaps or maybe use Facebook groups pages to reach that objective?

I have heard to some of the podcasts in the past and I didn't even know that such voice recordings are called podcasts. Podcasts can be boring sometimes especially if they are long. Sometimes the topic discussed may also be something that may not be very interesting for the listeners. I don't think I have the patience of hearing a lengthy podcast of one hour even if the topic may be interesting or the voice may be very appealing.

I love listening to podcasts, but I haven't yet entered the realm of making them myself. I definitely prefer the podcast idea to being a vlogger, simply because I think I'm too shy to be on camera. Because of that, a podcast might be a nice compromise and a better fit for my personality.
