Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

If you really want to be successful as an entrepreneur, you need to start out in sales in order to know how to actually sell and make money.  You can start off with a different job and certainly become successful as an entrepreneur, but you will be successful much quicker if you were to start off in sales and bring over your skills.

Sales professionals get paid a great deal of money if they're good at what they do, because they're making the company money, and that means they're pushing the business towards success more than anyone else in the business.  If you can help build someone else's business, by using sales tactics, you can always bring that over and do it for yourself.  If you don't know sales, apply for a sales job and start getting the skills to do it, and you will be happy you did Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

Now, I'm not talking about working at a clothing store and selling t-shirts or working at a restaurant and being a waiter.  You're selling something but you're not an actual salesperson.  You'll need to work in a niche where you're selling higher priced items and you need to make that sale.  If you have the right person training you, who is usually a veteran of the business, you'll see yourself gaining plenty of skills in order to push your own business towards profits Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

You'll become tenacious with your business
If you were to get an actual sales job, learn from everyone in your position, and then push those tactics into your own business then you'll be more tenacious than 99% of your competitors.  Remember, you only need to beat about 25% of your competitors to be successful online, and you're in the top 1% of them if you know how to do sales the right way.

You'll become more persuasive
Good salespeople can sell anything to anyone, just like in the movie "Wolf of Wallstreet".  You can sell holy water to the Devil if you're good enough in sales and the Devil will come back for a 2nd and 3rd purchase because of what you told them lol.

You don't have to trick people into buying, you just need to be persuasive, and that usually means you tell them the benefits of why they should have your product or service and what will likely happen if they don't own your product.  If you can build a scenario in their head where they can't live without your product or service, you'll be successful in a short amount of time Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

You'll understand realistic goals and always hit them
When you're in sales, you know what a realistic goal is, and you'll build your way up to achieve it in time.  Sales professionals know they're not going to start off and make an extra million dollars in their first month, but they know they can get there over time if they do everything right.  If you sell a recurring subscription product, you can use your sales knowledge to keep people coming in and purchasing in order to boost your sale over time and compile your profits Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

You will understand better of what the market wants
Salespeople usually know what their customers want and what they hate, and you will know exactly what to sell when you become an entrepreneur running your own business if you have sales skills.  I learned sales overtime and I was never lucky enough to get a high ticket sales position, but you can get in there and sell stuff that people need, and you'll be able to listen to them along the way.  If you're not listening to your customers, you won't know what the market wants, and that never happens with sales professionals.  They talk with their potential clients and know what they're interested in, then compile a list in their head of how many times people said they wanted product A or they wanted product B, then they'll push the best product they have that hits both A and B Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

In conclusion
If you can get a sales job, and actual sales job, before you start out on your own journey then you will likely be more successful because you'll know what to sell and how to sell it to people.  Salespeople get paid a lot because they make a lot, and a good sales professional can sell anything to anyone.  How successful do you think you would be if you had 10 sales professionals selling your products?  Well, start off doing this on your own and you can bring them on later Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

IN order to profit from your business, you need to be a good marketer. If you do not have any marketing experience or knowledge, it will be difficult to promote your business to the right people. marketing will generate sales. If you do not know how to sell products, you will never succeed in business.

Yes, I agree. You need to have experience in order for you to market your products well. Having a background in sales can help a lot, you can generate your own ideas and avoid some mistakes that you actually experience.

Aside from that you must have an experience in sales and marketing for you to understand the whole process. Know your target market and conduct a feasibility study about the business that you want to pursue. Marketing strategy is a big impact in the business. Your business must be unique from others or if the same make sure that people will differ it from the same competitors in terms of product quality and prices.

In order to succeed in busines, you need knowledge of various things and have various skills. If you are selling products, you need to have knowledge and skills with product manufacturing, if you are outsourcing products, you need to know the marketplace for outsourcing. You also need to have skills with market analysis because you have to analyze your competitors' performance.

You are right!. In every business there should be a good marketer and good controller. There should e a right person to market your business and good controller for your items and products. Sometimes even if you're good when it comes to market, there will be times that your business could be down. I think every entrepreneur experience that especially for first timers.

You remind me of a colleague who is from a Chinese family business. They have a factory of corned beef and other meat products that are canned. He said that marketing is the way to profit because no matter how good your product is but if there is no marketing involved then how would potential customers get to know of your outstanding product? That gave me an insight about marketing.

One important aspect of business that I have come to realise is that for those that always start with sales, they end up learning more about the business that they are into and this is far more better than those that always sit there and also want to invest their funds that they have into the business without understanding how the sales going.

So, We should all try to understand the trends of sales in our business since this is one of the ways that we can make good profit and stay afloat even when there is crisis in the sector.

I have been selling since I was young. I have sold toys to my friends, pens to my classmates, foods to my co-workers and now insurance policies to my clients. It just feels good whenever I make a sale. It encourages me more when I convince people to buy from me but of course I experience rejections, too. I think if you are in the sales industry, you should be ready for those painful rejections. You can't please all people but the more you train yourself in that job and in that industry, the better you get when it comes to talking. Sometimes you think it's your sales talking skills that got you the sale but you will realize it's how you connect with your clients that make them trust you more Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

Starting off in sales will definitely prepare you when you are trying to become an entrepreneur. Learning sales takes a while, being an entrepreneur means you're focusing on various things to boost sales, and trying to master both is going to kill your motivation and drive.

If you already know how to do sales then you're likely going to be better off than someone who has to learn everything from step 1. Learning sales early on, then moving into entrepreneurship, will help you succeed online quicker as well. You will be picking up plenty of skills that you may not notice right away, but they will come into play when you're writing content or just talking to someone over the phone or in a chat box, and you will likely close more deals than anyone else because you know how to sell Start in sales if you want to become an entrepreneur later on

Lots of great points here! I’ve worked in sales jobs before and I definitely think it helps in terms of you being able to identify customer needs, being more natural when it comes to “selling” without it feeling forced, and just having to deal with lots of clients daily!

That's the truth as you can be able to see through the emotional needs of the customers and once you can be able to do this, there are chances that you will get better with time as one of the best people in that particular industry that you are into.

It's essential especially when one is planning to start out in an industry where there are a whole lot of competitions. It won't be easy from the beginning, but it is something that is definitely going to happen as time progresses.

I am not working in sales now and I haven't experience working in one. I agree with you that you have an advantage in business if you have experienced working in sales before. Salesperson can sell anything they want to sell. They know how to negotiate and to appeal to the customer. I remember one of my friends said that if you want to rise start from the lowest. She work as a saleslady before even though she is a daughter of a rich man. She told me she wants to start from the beginning and slowly rise up to know the inside out of business.

I think that concept is so important - starting from the lowest rank and rising up. That way, it's possible for someone to have a full understanding of every element of a business, and that's such a great asset to have.

I agree with you. I think one of the pillars of a business, apart from a good product is a good sales team. They are businesses out there with fantastic products and they can't sell them. I am a business owner and I am taking lessons in sales. I think this is important because even if you have to hire a sales team you need to be in a position to understand what they are doing and where they are going wrong. You need to understand the fundamentals of sales to know if you have a product that can sell.

Like they say, if you want good money then be a good salesman. I started my career in sales even though my course was in I.T. and I love it.

There's a lot you can learn from being a sales person which you can use when you open up your own business. From negotiations, marketing, advertising, target marketing and damage control along with proper accounting. All these can be learned when you become a salesperson.

I had a little stint in the sales industry myself when I worked for a nutritional supplement company. I had originally started out in packing, shipping, and stocking products but whenever our sales guy wasn’t around I took it upon myself to take over.

I can thankfully say that I actually had somewhat of a natural talent for selling products, as I don’t think a single customer ever turned down a product I was trying to sell them. It was a pretty great experience and I wouldn’t mind getting into the sales industry more seriously at a later point.

That's one effective technique in becoming a successful entrepreneur. Knowing how the system works is a big advantage for success because you know if what the company need, because you already experience it. That is also a good way so that you have the knowledge on how to run a company unlike someone who don't have the knowledge.

Nothing really beats experience as compared to just some theoretical understanding of how sales work. It takes great skills and sometimes I come to think that it's some sort of inborn talent because it does seem that it comes as a breeze to other people. It will doubly hard if you are not that sociable or articulate. This being the case and since I don't have any experience with sales, I have a long way to go if I intend to be an entrepreneur down the line.

I like that point. In sales, you will know what the people want. We have a food business and this is an offline business, we always want to know their recommendation and what food they want to eat, and even without asking them, you will found out that.

I love to learn the art of persuasion. In every business, persuasion is one vital skills a businessman should master. I like it when the author said that you dont have to trick your customer but you really have to be good in persuading your potential customer that even the devil will buy holy water to you on a regular basis. I also believe that in persuading, you should not over do it. Especially the specification, features and the quality of the product or services that you are selling. I have learned so much in this article.

Persuasion is really an art and some people managed to gain mastery of it. I feel that it's a skill that comes with personality. And I agree that in any sales or business, there will be rejections which are inevitable. This skill maybe the reason why some are really good at it while some do poor in sales.

Some are really lucky that they naturally a persuasive person. Persuasion is a really powerful skill because you are dealing with humans. Selling a product to a customer is one of the hardest job. I totally agree with you that in persuading, you should not over do it to the point you are harassing your customer.

I started working as a cashier when I was young. I started to appreciate not only the workers but also the customers. I learned a lot from just observing. Everyone comes from a different background of life and that we shouldn't discriminate when someone is different. I learned to value the value of money and I become more sale oriented. The hardships of earning and turning a profit could only be learned in sales.

Your statements are right. Getting a sales job is like a stepping stone to the business world. It is like a training ground for your own business. You will also learn the techniques or strategies that you will need in getting more sales. The other good thing about it is that your current customers can be also your customers in the future once you have your own business. You will gain a lot of friends and meet different people. Always remember that whatever your sales job is, you need to treat this like your own to achieve your goals.

This is very good point of view of how to become an entrepreneur. Personally., I find sales job difficult because I'm not a very good speaker. I admire people who work in this field because you really need to invest a lot of time and effort to be successful in this field. You also need to have a lot of patience. There is a lot of pressure in sales job because I believe in some companies they required a quota sale per representative.

Poeple dont know how to sales their product and how they would able to promote it. Selling is like communicating with positive respond. In selling business you should know the cons and prons. Marketing strategy should be stretched in the business. Know your product in order for you to explain them about it and answer their queries too.

You are right with the title of the discussion because that happened to me. I was into personal selling to my classmates in college and later on in the office when I got a job. That selling experience pushed me to put up a retail marketing business of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories. I don’t think it is easy to handle such marketing business if you don’t have an experience in selling.

It is just the same as the saying "If you want to change the world, change for the better of yourself first". In order to be a successful businessman, you first need to understand what the people need and learn something that you think could help them in that way you could increase your sales and on the same time have your business grow. It is better to study first about the business you want to be in so that you'll understand the all-around mechanism of your business. It is hard if you'll face a war not physically and mentally prepared right? You should learn how to sell and promote your products by yourself first before having people to work with you because they will rely on your strategies.

Yes, definitely. This is exactly what I think because I know someone who has a business for a long run right now and the business still does not grow bigger and I believe they lack on sales. The way they sell their product is just a plain way by just letting it see people and they just waited people to hopefully buy their goods/products. I know it is already a big mistake for doing such a business like that for a long run. I also kind of feel that they just contented to what their business do. I'm also wondering why they don't see a little way to improve it especially that they need more profit out of it.

Yes! That's great tips. I grew up with my family having a small store. I could never my experiences in selling. I would wake up very early and go to a nearby market. I have my money and list of things to be bought. I would then sell and make roll of the money.

As they say, the experience is the best teacher. That is why having an experience with sales can have a big impact on starting your own business. As you work with customers, you become familiar with the difficulties or challenges you may face in the business world. You will also learn how to present your product or service since selling involves introducing and promoting your products to the audience.
