I definitely think there is a market for it, but how well it will do probably depends on the content of the book itself. Since it's so easy for people to create ebooks these days, with a variety of online sources, it means the market is pretty saturated. If you've got something unique that stands out, or a particular niche for writing, you might find more success with it.

I agree with you. It all boils down to one thing, the content. With this trend nowadays, a lot of people try their luck, making it hard to achieve success because you have a lot of competitors.

Well, yes, there's a lot of competitors out there, but don't think of them as a competitor, because it will just make your mind go crazy. Try to do everything you can to be ahead of them, and don't think about something that the competitors can do to make your business or services down.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you, there are a lot of ways on how you can sell your ebooks online, just do a proper research so you won't get your time wasted.

True. There's a bunch of ebook markets nowadays unlike in the past but the number of quality ebooks disappointingly decreased. I mean, I started reading ebooks on Wattpad and the authors before were really great unlike now where most writers heavily rely on the contents of the popular writers by taking inspirations on their past contents. And so, I don't think it's going to be an easy task to make your content/ebooks to become popular because of the intense competition and the current demands of the readers.

I agree. Creating such uniques stories might ring a bell to readers and consider reading your unique story. But since the online community has a wide range of different stories, you should think of a story that will make people go to your story.

I have to agree with you. The content is very important but what will really grab people's attention is the title and/or subtitle. That's the first thing that people will see and that's the thing that will make them click to read about the summary.

I have checked the marketplace for e-books last year and I don’t remember seeing so many who were successful in getting a sale. There are sellers, all right, but there are few buyers and e-books fall into so many categories that you have to fight among yourselves with the genre. Let’s say I prefer an e-book for children’s stories. Gee, there’s a ton in the marketplace so how will you fit in when you will write about that genre?

Listing your Ebooks in the marketplace will surely attract buyers. Try it out and see. Remember to set a reasonable price for them. Wishing you the best sale

Price and the quality of your article should always consider. We must also make sure that our price is almost same and reasonable price compared to others. If we have a good price in our article, many people will surely buy our product.

The most popular field where you can create and sell you E-books is on Amazon Kindle. However, it is so popular that a lot of people use it. Thus, making the competition tough, you have a lot of competitors who are aspiring writers as well. But, that must not scare you. It should serve as your motivation to create a good quality content which can rise above the new ones.

I agree that amazon is great place to sell our e book creation for us to earn some money while we are at home. But I haven't tried it yet because I am just making an e book for my own reading purposes and to entertain other people.

I have two friends that have written and published eBooks. I am an Amazon Associate and since their eBooks are available on Amazon, I help them promote their books. One book is about herbs and spices, and the other book is poetry. Is there a market for eBooks? YES! The only thing is I don't know is if my friends work from home. One of my friends is in India and the other is in Romania.

Yes promoting their books using your associate link can be a good option. It can bring few percentage to you. Though book sales don't earn much. I think any book above 3.99$ at 70% royalty on amazon can have some good chance. But overall it is not easy job.

No. To be honest it is not about the money. It's just about helping out a friend.

There does seem to be a market, and an eBook is certainly easier than a print book to create, but if you self-publish, you still have to do your own promotion unless you can find that one title people need that has not been written yet. What surprises me is how often I buy an eBook to find little care has been taken over the editing and formatting. It is certainly cheaper to produce your own eBook. I wrote one on making eBooks while I learned how to write them for my own use. I thought people might be interested, but it has never sold -probably too much competition and my laziness in promoting it. Yet I thought this might be the book that sold. The best thing is to research and find a niche where you meet a need.

I agree that it depends on the niche. As already commented on they are so many e-books out there. I think that people are spoilt for choice.Personally I have bought so many, that I can't even read them. I'm not adding any more to my collection. You can try but you need to be careful. Research your niche and fill the gaps by providing information that is not available. If you don't do this you will find yourself drowning in a super competitive market.

Is there a market here for creating and selling Ebooks ?

There always is a market for ebooks everywhere on the internet.

You'd need to identify your target audience and tell them about your ebook. Maybe some of them might buy. However you never should rely only one marketplace for ebook marketing. Whilst trying to sell your ebook here, you should also have it listed in many other places on the internet. These diverse distribution channels increase the chances of you selling more ebooks.

all the best!

You can definitely create e-book and sell it online. Amazon is one of the popular where you can able to sell there. All you need to do is create an article that something unique and people will get interest to it.

All you need to do is create an article that something unique and people will get interest to it.

I've read that these days someone who wants to buy an ebook often looks at the page count before they decide to buy the ebook.

The shorter your ebook is the less likely it is that there are many who will buy it. So while in the past you could get away with selling ebooks that could be only a few pages long, try that today and you won't sell lots of books.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
People might wanted an e-book that has longer than it used to be. That is better I think for the reader but for the writer I would say that they need to exert additional time to make their article longer as the buyer are demanding for it.

People want value for their money. The marketplaces themselves for the sake of their customers have begun to impose more stringent guidelines. Aggregators like smashwords for example don't accept (fiction) books that are less than 40,000 words. That doesn't necessarily mean that a longer books is of higher quality than one that is shorter.

For non-fiction books answer all your readers questions comprehensively. That should be your guideline.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
That is right. I know how much we value every single money that we have and for that we are looking for something that worth of our money. I completely understand that because I am the market too.

Smashwords and Kobo marketplace are another places where people can promote their books. I have seen some of the other marketplace with Nook too. So depending on the device and other online places. I'd be looking out at some ebooks and the marketplace that can have them. It's kind of harder to work with the promotion on each one of them though.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
I am not familiar with that site. I will try to search it and how things going on there for sure. Promoting our own article is really hard. We need an arm to use in order to recognize our own article.

Smashword is like dashboard which allows you to post your book to sites like amazon, nook, kobo and few other marketplace. This happens from single dashboard. And you get 60% of the commission. So it is a good earning if this is done making a lot of books. It takes time but this is doable.

Well explained. I will definitely check that sites. Additional income is not bad as long as you enjoying it.

I am glad you find it useful. It's just that writing the book is the hardest part. Once you set it up then it just becomes easier that way. I have not managed to complete the book as of yet. I hope to finish it someday to publish the book.

I mean there’s always going to be a market for eBooks. I don’t think that people are going to stop reading any time soon, and the fact is that actually more people have started reading thanks to the availability and popularity of eBooks. But the problems that all writers have faced throughout the ages are also going to be present when trying to publish your eBooks.

The fact is that the market is pretty darn saturated. Everyone thinks that they have the next best seller, but most publishers know better so they won’t even give you a second glance. Distributing a book by yourself is going to take some serious marketing savvy.

You need to give people an incentive to buy your content, mostly by giving them something for free first. A good way to start selling eBooks is by starting a blog and sharing your content with the world. Once people see that you have something worth offering, they have a better incentive to actually pay for your stuff.

I agree with other comments. There is surely a market for that kind of product but the question is does your product meet their needs or satisfied their wants? What is your edge over competitors? Maybe you should try to search about AIDA Theory. It will help a lot.

That the question as regards if the e-book is going to meet up with the demands that the buyers are looking forward to. I believe that it is on that note that the poster is going to be able to make better returns on sales as well.

Good questions here. However, there is no harm in listing them for sale. A business without competitors is not the best. One has to be unique in order to make a sale.

For those who want to sell ebooks think about this:

Every year, more than one hundred thousand scripts are in circulation and more are written every day. Of these, less than 1000 are bought. The slim odds of selling a script doesn't stop aspiring screenwriters from writing spec scripts.

My point? Don't let competition discourage you. Just write the book and get listed it on a marketplace. Do some promotion and you'll make money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Good point. It is indeed that your item or article should be unique so that you have high percentage of getting more sales.

I agree business need to have competitors. Otherwise even customers won't able to bother. So one needs to be focused more on the getting into crowded niche and work their way up for the sales. It works if you know how much to put on efforts. It's always better to work in crowd than being solo in uncertain market.

It's always better to work in crowd than being solo in uncertain market.

In such a market you at least know there is a high demand for the product you intend to create.

What will determine how much you earn in the long run hinges on the quality of the product and how good you are at marketing. Nonetheless if you know where the buyers are, you could simply advertise and they'll come buy what you are selling.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That questions are need to be considered of the writer in order to have many buyer in the end.

This actually is what one must think about before they write a non-fiction ebook. Don't just create something hoping that there will be someone who will buy what you wrote. The product you create must solve a specific problem. If it doesn't you'll need to be very lucky to make much money from the ebook you write.

I believe that as long as you are not infringing on any of the rules that is guiding the site, you are going to be able to sell anything that you want to offer in the marketplace. On the note of selling e-books, ensure that it is of high quality since this is something that the support team always wish to see in the marketplace.

I think if I really don't have a job then I might try e book writing so that I can generate an income from it while I am at home taking care of my kids, it is really tough and time consuming to create some e books but I think we can make it if we are passionate about it and if we have some patience to work on it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

In reality the whole process is lot more complicated than you can see. The first issue is that your book needs to solve some sort of problem. And after that you have to focus on the design of the book. You have to then get content properly formatted and edited by editor. And finally promoted at the decent price. And the promotion needs to be done on recurring basis. This way the creation and selling part works better for home.

This is a marketplace for selling products and offering services. As long as the product you are selling are legitimate and the service that are offering are decent and legal then you are welcome here to join the fun. With the e-book, there is an oversupply in the internet but maybe you can still find buyers here who will be interested in the kind of e-book that you are writing. Kindly give us a primer of your e-books.

With e-books, there is an oversupply in the internet . . .

There definitely are many books being sold on the net and more being written but many of these fail to impress readers which is why many of the writers don't make much money from their books. The sure-fire way to make money from ebooks is to write something that provides new information that people are seeking. You'd wouldn't compete against anyone.

p.s I heard of someone who wrote an ebook about goats. That ebook made the writer a lot of money.

what about a service of i creating ebooks with your content ?
professionally formatted
with revisions

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes that sort of service definitely has some value. Many people make use of the ebook based services. Like say logo generation. And some are for the editing with the grammar. And some of the other similar prices can be good as well. I prefer having the ebook creation services if they are reasonable for myself.

So far, Wattpad is the best market to sell ebooks for me. It is such a good platform to showoff your stories for free. Also, it has a lot of readers so it can really give you readers for your stories. There are some stories that have made it to the big screen. You can try to sell your stories there.

That's a good prerogative. To be honest, working and making money at home is becoming an excellent trend. I think you should give it a try, but make sure to have a sustainable income while you do it. Personally, I work from home too, but I also have another job outside my home, just in case something goes bad. Even though not many people are into reading or listening to books right now, I still think there's a decent amount for it.

I didn't know that someone could sell stories on Wattpad.

To be honest I'm always looking for new places where I can post my writing so I could get more readers. But about selling your writing on the site, how do you do it? Do you tell the readers you are selling the story you've published or do you just post and hope that someone will read the story and offer you a publishing deal?

Do you have an ebook already written? Try to sell it in the marketplace. Or you could consider adding a service that lets others know that you are interested in writing an ebook for them. I think that there are probably many that might be interested in having an ebook written for them.
