    Who still remembers Java phones?

    With what we witness in technological advancement today in phone development, most of us have forgotten about the existence of Java mobile devices as we are more bombarded with Android, Microsoft and iOS devices currently. 

    What's the first Java phone you used before the dawn of Androids and iOS?

    Agree. I am also fond of iOS, and iPhone is my first cell phone actually, but there are a lot of problems with it. And each new model doesn`t bring any relief..     I honestly dont remember Java phone. Maybe I used that system in my old phone like 5110 Nokia. I really dont recall it anymore.

    Nokia phones was the top phones then in my hood, if you are not using a Nokia phone then you need God or something. Nokia dominated completely but now it's era is over.

    Everyone knew about Nokia phone. Nokia has not been active before. Their sales dropped but they are trying to get back again. There are some new nokia smartphone today in the market and yet their sales is not increasing fast and steady compared before. It very unfortunate to them because they era might over but still they trying to survive.

    I don’t know what a Java phone is either, but I also had Nokia 5110 and 3110 phones. They were so reliable, the batteries would last forever! Also does anyone else remember the game snake?! Nokia phones were so renowned for that!

    Funny thing is that those kinda phones are still widely accessible and used here in my country. They are saviours when you have to go to a really unsafe neighborhood and cannot carry your smartphone. I have one for myself as backup for when my phone goes off.

    I still have an old-timey java phone. One of those ancient Nokia 1110 models.

    I always find texting on a smartphone quite hard. The letters on the keyboards are so tiny that if I was trying to type something, there are always so many errors which is why I still use the old dumb phone for calling and texting.

    Hahahaha. This is actually funny because you remind me how I have crammed the typing thingy on a java phone where you have to press a certain key a number of times for the letter you want. It is so imprinted on the mind that you can text on your sleep.

    Lucky you. In my country nobody is using that system anymore. Old phones here are almost gone. We are using updated brand and system software too.

    My friend @mark8625 I think if they have not been banned then you might come across them and I bet there might be people who still rely on them. Even with innovation and advancements in technology some things just do not die out completely.

    Same here, I never used Java phone and I don't know this. But I used a Nokia 3210 before. I did not own this but my Mother had this and I borrowed this to play games. Snakes and Bantumi are just some of the games that I remember.

    I had the privilege of owning a Nokia 3210 way back in high school, and I became one of the cool kids on the block haha. What I did with the phone was change its casing and installed green backlights.

    That is right! Installing backlights was very common. You could choose different colors and it was very cool if you have them on your phone. Changing cases was something that everyone would love to do during that time. I think you are one of the 90's kids too.

    Yes, I'm one of them. I also had the privilege of owning a pager before, where you get to send messages directly to someone by calling a hotline and relaying your message to the agent. Those were fun times.

    I remember pager although I never had it before because I was just too young. The pager reminds so much of my childhood days. I think they also called it beeper, right?

    Yes, they also go by the name of beepers. You get an alert once someone sends you a message through an operator.

    You remind me of a period that all we did on the phones was to play the snake game. I remember as a child I used to love that game and another one that was mostly on motorolla phones called bounce.

    I used to play snake games with this phone and the snake game before was different compared to snake games nowadays. It was more simple and easy to play.

    It was simpler and a child, it used to be both playable and fun which is why we used to love it so much. That phone has numerous memories and some of them have been ruined by digitalization.

    You are right! By the way, there is a new 3310 Nokia phone, right? This was one of the unit or model of old phones before like 3210 and 5210. And I believe that it had snakes and other old games too. I wonder if the newly released phones also have games that they used to have before. Do you have any idea?

    I do not know if there is a new phone from that series as the one Nokia that I know which is cheap but great is the nokia1. It is a smartphone using android go and has some exclusive features. the java phones are quite outdated nowadays.

    I will never forget those games. They are part of my childhood as they gave me so much fun playing it. I could also remember that I even cheated in order to win that game called Bounce. I really love playing that game. It is simple but quite addicting.

    This was a great era and remembering elicits so many beautiful memories. I remember that my mother's phone could never rest in her arms as I always used to take it to play a game.

    Nokia phones were really at the top of the game back then with their durable Java phones. I loved using them as there were no fancy options. Back then, I was not fond of complicated apps, so those phones were the best.

    Oh, is that Java? Well, I believe I've owned one like ten years ago or something. It is a slide phone (I forgot the model) and have apps on it and can be connected to the internet but doesn't have a browser.

    I can't stop laughing to this post because it reminds me of my first phone which was a Java phone, It was an Express Music and a T-Mobile product. I smashed that phone but I can't remember why.

    Java phone? Like a phone that runs Java as an operating system? To be quite honest I’m not entirely sure if I ever owned, but I probably did I suppose. I remember having an old Motorola flip phone and the Java logo popping up here and there so I guess it was some sort of Java OS?

    Huh, this is a real enigma for me, as I always thought Java was that annoying program that always needed to be updated and only ancient relics use.

    That's the first thing I thought when I heard Java too - that's the only association I have with that word here in my country. Interesting how something can be so well known in one part of the world and then completely unknown in others.

    Yeah, I think that it primarily has to do with the level of development in said countries.

    Many Western countries like the United States progress incredibly quickly with regards to technology, especially when it comes to gadgets like phones. They’re constantly going from one model to the other, constantly developing and improving, mostly because there is a consumer base funding it all.

    In less developed countries, development and product distribution might stall simply because the people don’t have the income to fund as quick of a transition. It ends up being that what was just a stepping stone for one country ends up being a much longer period for another.

    I just used Nokia phones before with Java applications. I think original Nokia phones are using Symbian OS. With the development of Android which was commonly used on Samsung, Nokia users tremendously dropped.

    I made use of Nokia phones for a long time and the thing was that they penetrated the African market too which was a landmark success for them as well. I don't know if there are a whole lot of others that still make use of Java phones at the moment.

    Nokia was wonderful. There was Nokia 3310 which was advanced by then. It used to cost about $70 but it soon dropped to only about $5. Ha ha ha. Did you remember the Nokia tunes?

    I just remember how many times I dropped both my Nokia 5110 and my 3110 and they were just fine - those phones were super resilient! In contrast I dropped one of my previous iPhones once and it cracked the screen into a million pieces.

    Today's mobile are sensitive and the materials used are not so durable. Once you drop it, sooner you'll have to replace your phone. But of course, when it comes to features, mobile phones nowadays are way better than the old model.

    I'm not entirely sure, but I think Android apps are made with the use of the Java language as well.

    I think originally the Android apps were developed using Java but now there are android apps that were created using other programming languages.

    Majority of people would say Java if you want to develop apps on Android, but you're right, other programming languages can be used as well such as Kotlin, C/C++, BASIC, etc.

    I still remember my auntie's phone in the past which was a Sony Ericson phone. It has Java games on it and most of its applications are run by Java script and I really enjoy all of them especially during my childhood. Unfortunately, that phone is already broken and there's no way to fix it especially that we left it in our hold house.

    My Nokia phone which is Asha 201 is still fresh in my memory. The mobile phone that made me enjoyed being on Facebook always. It is sad that when I gave that phone to my kid brother, he was unable to handle it better and it had issues. If not for that reason, I should be having that phone with me at the moment.

    I remember the games used java script. The phones were here with us but disappeared into oblivion. Android and iOS stole the show.

    Just like a second wife, the android and iOS may be celebrating but soon another one will come over. Where we use firewood for cooking, we say, the firewood on the rack laughs at that one in the fire.

    i still remember my java phone before which is a Nokia brand and that was my favorite phone before because I find the games to be cool and very addicting. I usually used it for gaming purposes most of the time and there was an incident that I was not able to have a good sleep because of playing some java games on that phone. But now I rarely see them since they are now replaced by these IOS and android phones due to the advancement in technology that we are experiencing now.

    I do remember those days. I think I was in my highschool years when I used the Samsung but I forgot the unit of the phone. When I played games there, there was a logo Java and the graphics was still not good. You can't easily download games as many as you can.

    Nokia had many phones which were based on the java. The symbian was a good phone series. But those phones tend to get hot and also used to hang a lot. In fact many times the phones had memory ran out. So on that note I'd say that java phones need to be phased out now. Because they tend to consume ram and that just can't be changed.

    It is my first time to hear that java phone. I don't know what kind of phone are included in that. However, I do have Nokia 3210 before and that was my very first cellphone. I am so proud of myself having that.

    I also still don’t remember java phones. Was that the technology before Android and iOS? I guess that these phones were not smart phones. I remember them quite well. You could only call and text with your phone.This was the biggest disadvantage.However their advantages was the long battery life, which could last at least three days. The phones also lasted longer. Smart phones are not long lasting.

    I guess the first mobile phone that I used was a java phone and the brand was Benq. I don't remember much about the phone but I do remember that it was very very slow while using it to browse the internet, There were a few games that I used to enjoy playing on that phone. I think that we have come a long way from the java phones and are truly enjoying the benefits of technological advancement in the field of mobile phones

    I am not sure if I have encountered a Java phone either... I only remember having a Nokia 3310, and then a small Samsung phone with blue screen, followed by a Nokia flip phone. Or were the old Nokia phones based on Java? I remember they had a pretty solid OS back then, when Nokia was still the leading phone brand.

    I can still remember that I have used small Nokia phone back then. I was really happy when I had it on my possession because I can finally communicate with my friends without using our landline phone and being reprimanded by my mother. Ah, those were the days.

    I think that java phones now are obsolete and outdated since mostly we can see that android and ios are now the new trend that mostly prefer to use because of the convenience that it gives to the user. I also think that it is already phased out now since it cannot anymore meet with the satisfaction and standards for a mobile phone that each people need.

    I don’t think I have heard of Java phone or maybe it has another name here. Nokia is familiar because that was my first small phone after the big Motorola phone that needs a bag when you are traveling. The Nokia was small and easy to use especially with the texting that almost everyone in our place has a Nokia. In fact, my husband is still using a Nokia until now although he has another phone for internet use.

    I firmly believe I have owned a Java phone before. It was a Samsung and can connect to the internet though I'm not pretty sure if it doesn't have a browser as it relied on a technology called WAP. The software that it comes with is slow and is not stable enough when you use it a lot.

    I have seen yesterday a java phone from my friend and it feels great to see such an old phone because it brings back the old memories. I have tried to play some games from it and it really feels unique since it was still good and addicted as well.

    I still remember a java phone, It was my highschool days. I didn't own a java phone or any other phone tha5 time, I just saw it in my cousins' phone when I borrowed it to play snake game. The operation is like a browser if im not mistaken.

    I am not quite sure if I had a java phone before but I could remember that my mother had a phone when I was still a child that it seems like a Java phone. I could remember how I played such fun games and play with its camera. I cannot say that it is better compared to android but way back then, it could have been better if they continued developing Java phones.

    I don't have an idea about java phone. My first phone was the old keypad style. Touchscreen we're not invented at that time. I have so much fun decorating my phone. I change phone case in weekly basis. It has a blue back light. I installed the famous ring back tone. I played games and composed graphics for text messages.

    I remember those! Maybe it's because I'm older than you lot Who still remembers Java phones? ) The game I played a lot back then was Bounce. You control a little red ball through obstacles and you have to go through these gold rings, it's a good time waster back then. Here's a video of it...

    Of course I remember them, I even had one myself. But boy, it was a long time ago.
    I must say, I wouldn't mind holding one in my hand even right now. I miss the experience I had with it. They were reliable and fun. Sadly, they're outdated right now. But if someone were to upgrade them somehow, it would be a cool thing to see once more.

    It looks like the java phone was my first phone that is a Motorola. I bought it in 1996 because we needed a phone and the landline was rare in our country. However the sim was only post-paid since there was no pre-paid phone cards yet. The text and calls were very expensive that we only use that phone for very important matters otherwise we turn it off so it can save on battery life too.

    Don't know what Java phone is. But I've used a Symbian smartphone even during the first few generations of the iPhone. Oh and your post made me remember the Motorola RAZR, loved that phone so much I want it to come back with Android OS. I swear I would sacrifice my iPhone for that.
