I think it's a good idea for small or new businesses to use Facebook/Instagram ads even just for the first few months, it's very effective and I've used it before and it really helped me build awareness for my brand because I can target specific groups of people plus if you don't want to spend big money on it, you can control the pricing/budget. Yes, you can do it yourself by sharing it with your friends but I think ads give faster results (if you want quick results). While yes, social media marketers will most certainly help your business gain more exposure, that doesn't necessarily translate to more conversions. My advice would be for you to learn social media marketing and do it yourself.

Whilst you are learning, join relevant Facebook groups. Ask and answer some questions. This is a sure-fire way to build relationships and grow your audience as some of these people will follow you.

It really depends on the kind of business you have and what social media platform/s would you be tapping. But generally speaking increase social media presence means increased visibility which translates to more engagements and thus revenue.

You can do it yourself more so if you're into social media, that's if you're not busy. Because it's a very time consuming and laborious work. That's why most people just hire social media managers to do the job.

You can use Facebook to advertise. Do you have groups you belong to on Facebook? Ask permission from the admins to advertise your goods and services. Share it on your Facebook page and ask friends to reshare. Tell your family and friends to help you share on Instagram and Facebook. Do a giveaway for people to join your Instagram page and invite five people each and u will gather a following. A give away on Facebook would also work, tell them to make a comment under your product and the person with the highest number of likes would receive a gift. You need to create a buzz about your product. Finally, Facebook ads are not too expensive so u could try that out and if you get good feedback, you could pay for more coverage.

You can use social media following ways-

1. Make business page on facebook, twitter, pinterest.
2. Post images of your products, office and the people you work with.
3. Post images of quotes and items related to the your service or product.
4. Ask clients and the friends to like the page.

And from here onwards it's all pure strategy of gaining new customer through these channels. You can promote various things related to your business. And that should build the business in the due process.
