Running a White Label SEO Agency is More Difficult Than you Would Think

Since 2003 I've been working online with clients and building million-dollar businesses that were not my own.  It takes plenty of time, data crunching, and effort to build a company from startup to fortune 500, but it's worth it if you have the time.  If you've read a decent amount of my discussions, you've known that I have a son who was born in January of 2018 and I've been working odd hours so I can hang out with him as much as possible.  For this reason, I've taken a step back from the SEO world and hadn't taken on any new clients, but I wanted to get back into it.

The problem?

I don't have enough time to run my agency again to help clients boost their rankings, sales, and brand because I want to be with my son as much as possible.  Some of you might be saying, "Everyone has to sacrifice something to be successful!" but do we?  I've been crunching the numbers, researching loads of services, and I've finally come up with something that will allow me to work 6-10 hours a day and have a fully functional SEO agency running at full speed.

How do I do this, you ask?  I will be white labeling an already successful SEO agency, one that allows this and knows I'm going to do it, and they will be my workforce!  Sounds pretty awesome, right?  Well, there are a few things that I'll still have to do, but the majority of the work and report generation and sending will be done for me, which is why I'll still have to work 6-10 hours a day starting.  I can likely get that down to 4-8 hours a day, but we'll see how that goes lol.

Now then, let's talk about this a little more.

Not everything is done for you
When you work with a white labeling a marketing service, you are essentially hiring a team of specialists to do the work for you.  They will do the SEO, Marketing, PPC management, etc. and you have to sort of be a middle man between them and your clients.  That's not so much a big deal if you know what you're getting into, but some people might think a white label SEO service means they do absolutely everything, but they don't.

I will have to collect payments, talk with clients, send out newsletters/emails, and a few smaller tasks.  That's not a big deal since I'll be marking up my services, so I profit more, I won't have to worry about sending reports to clients, and I can pretty much automate a lot of the smaller tasks, so I only have to manage them.

You need to know what you're selling
If you don't understand SEO or Online Marketing, then I would say this isn't something for you.  I can do this easily because I've been doing this type of work for over 15 years and know all the tricks, tips, and secrets as well as how to build a website to please the search engine gods.

If you want to get into this, and you don't have the knowledge, I highly suggest you research what they white label SEO service is selling and ask as many questions as possible before you get your first client.

You still need to do marketing
This type of setup will require you to focus on traffic and leads, which isn't a big deal since you won't have to worry about doing the actual work, but it can still be a large hurdle for most people.  Running a PPC campaign in the SEO, SEM, Online Marketing, and Digital Marketing niche is not cheap and can blow through your entire budget rather quickly if you don't know what you're doing.

I would suggest you get super targeted with Adwords or Facebook ads to get your initial customers coming in, wait a month or two, then ramp up your budget to target nationally and eventually go global with your services.  You won't be able to stop someone from overseas that wants to work with you, but you'll know you didn't target them and they found you through a referral, but you can't target them right away. Otherwise, you could go broke.

Get local, expand, then go global!

Final Thoughts
Running a white-label service of any kind comes with its risks, but it also has some pretty amazing rewards if you can do it right.  You need to look at the pricing of each service you'll be purchasing as something like payroll, but you only have to pay for it after a client signs on and sends you money.  You'll have more free time after you get the ball rolling, understand the paths that need to be taken to get the job done, and maybe you'll bring on a project manager to reduce your workload even further!
