Why I'm Linux for Life

I always prefer to run opensource software if possible. Over the years most linux distributions are starting to catch up to the point where they offer most programs completely free of charge. You can use Linux Mint with free music production, 2D animation, video editing software, and more.

It certainly wasn't always like this, but for the average user trying to save a buck there are many options and when it's open source you're less likely to get viruses or have spying eyes from bigger brother.

Free opensource software is important for IT to advance as well. When I got started with Linux it was because I was receiving old hand me down hardware that could barely run the current Windows versions and I couldn't afford a license anyways. Linux was free and allowed me to get all I could out of my available hardware. People forget about these aspects as hardware becomes more readily available.
