Do you think it would be better if there were to be a chat system enabled here?

From my experience many buyers feel that it would be better to have a chat system here so as to facilitate communication with the seller. Maybe it could be something that might be considered. I am here daily, and respond to any messages practically immediately. However, even though I do this I met many buyers who told me that they would rather chat with me than send a message after another to the inbox. I am okay with how it is, but I am just pointing this idea out because I really got tens of buyers who tried to bypass the site by asking me for my skype or email to be able to chat. Would like to hear what you think about it.

The inbox area is instant so if you and another person are in the same conversation, when they send a new message it will automatically update, similar to instant messaging.

It was discussed many times on our forum, as many members were asking for chat feature to be implemented. But i personally see advantages and disadvantages in it. I guess it could be misused by many members or it would need to be heavy administrated. The thing is that some members could use it to disturb buyer and spam them with numerous things. Perhaps on WTB you can see how many sellers submitting completely unrelated bids to customers offers, chat could be used in such bad way too i guess. Also, i guess PM system works well here on Seoclerks and it's enough to exchange needed details and thoughts.

Just what i feel about it...

That's a really nice idea and I would be in favour of such implementation. A sellers chat that is. I can also imagine several sellers be against this so an easy enable/disable option would be perfect, so everyone can make their own decision regarding the chat. With that being said, I've always been in favour for a support chat, where users can easily contact the support immediately but I can see several disadvantages with such an option too. The first one would be all the support members that would be needed to have a chat open for business at all times, and also the group of people who'll need to spend time doing these support tasks quickly so the users in "chat queue" wouldn't need to wait for too long. The support tickets would probably decrease by doing this too, so each and every support issue had to be dealt with straight away, and that would probably be too much for just a few support members to handle by themselves in the long run. However, I do believe that for starters, a chat between buyers, sellers and potential clients would be a superb option! This would also increase credibility and buyers would be able to trust you as a seller more easily. Great suggestion!

Yes that really excellent idea. And I think there has some advantages and disadvantage for this facility. I saw many of my client asking for skype and they send email too and sometimes phone number and they asking me I have skype ID or not. And they asking reason why they want to talk for more details with spot answer. And in this sense it is really good idea and it may work if chat system will active.
But problem is fraud user may abuse the chat option by providing backend contract number. And monitoring should another big challenge.
Beside, buyer will try to knocking you always anytime even for less value reason. And it should hamper to your work.
Once sense it may feel right if chat will active people will not ask for skype of personal contact.

I think this is a good idea. Firstly, this will speed up discussions and you can chat with your customers in real time. This could also help you build relationships with your customers. However, members could abuse this system so it will need to be monitored and it may cause some trouble so a very good plan will be needed if this was to be implemented. Everything seems to be working fine with the current system so this would be a good addition but probably won’t make a large impact on anything.
