Let's get to it!

5 ways to increase engagement on your YouTube videos

  1. Focus on your mobile viewers - People now a days are watching more videos on their smartphones than on a desktop or tablet. This is due to easy access to a phone and the many apps out there that allow quick viewing. So focus on these people and you'll get more popularity over time compared to if you focused on desktop viewers.
  2. Post at the right times to increase views, likes and shares - Smartphones, computers and tablets all are showing peak times around noon to 5pm. So if you share your video around noon you will have the best chance of getting in while it's good. You can test this out if you'd like, but you should just trust me so you don't have to do tons of split testing lol.
  3. Design your videos based on users passions and interests - If you post videos of the following topics you will have a better chance of gaining followers, likes and shares. Inspiration and Entertainment, Learning, "How To" videos, Instructional, Deciding what to buy.
  4. Use your emails to increase traffic - If you simply use the word "Video" within the title of your email you will notice more people opening it. People would rather watch a video than read a long message from a random person.
  5. Collaborate with your viewers to help build a community around your channel - Around 80% of YouTubes viewers live outside of the United States and 60% of the views to a video are from outside of the creators country. Be sure to have an outside website up and running which you can link to in the description. I am a rookie as well in Youtube marketing and I really can't say that I've done too many videos. Actually i think i have done only 2-3 but they didn't had any success because i had no clue how to address them to the public. But it's a subject that recently caught my eyes again and i start doing some research to get more familiarized.
The truth is you find a lot of outdated information on the web and it's a bit tricky to filter all of them to see which one is worth it and brings results.

I would say to add a complete and smart description of your video. It will look more professional and you can easily blend some keywords within.

It is quite easy once you have added a few more videos and yes doing SEO on a Youtube video is quite simple actually. A lot easier than for a post that's for sure!

I have started really enjoying Youtube and I have about 40 videos now, I try and add more as often as possible.

I may add that creating custom thumbnails can really increase your CTR and view count. I don't recommend going for click bait stuff showing sexy pictures and stuff like that. Go for something that actually describes your youtube video so you can end up with the right kind of audience watching your videos.

Also, the quality of the video matters a lot! People usually bounce right off a video that starts and has a low quality. People now expect perfect lighting and HD or FullHD videos. As higher the quality of your video the more people will understand that you are professional and are worth their precious time.

I am not into creating and videos and uploading on youtube. In fact, I don't have video making skills. However, I believe these are great ideas for people who want their youtube videos to stand out. For your videos to get views, they need to be interesting. In order to create interesting videos, you need creative ideas. Creating videos is not enough, you need good marketing skills as well.

It is really hard to define "interesting." The thing you find interesting might be boring for others. I see a lot of videos on Youtube that have a lot of views and engagements, however, I find them boring. And the videos that I find interesting do not have a lot of views.
You should share videos based on the interest if your subscribers or target audience to that your videos get good engagements.

I like the last part because collaborating with your viewers means you are establishing a sort of network with them. And if they are more engaging then it would be easier to spread the word when you upload a new video. Being close to you viewers like the way you are to your Facebook friends will definitely make a difference in getting traffic. Aside from the enthusiasm of your loyal viewers, they can also have the initiative to share your old videos.

One of the best ways to generate traffic to your youtube videos is through cross sharing. You can create a twitter account or facebook page for your youtube channel. This will help you bring twitter and facebook users to your youtube videos. Cross sharing is very important and very effective as well.

I think marketing on Youtube is one of the hardest types of marketing there is out there. The problem is not keeping your audience engaged, in my opinion the problem is getting your audience. How to get people to click on your video. I know having the right keywords helps but they are so many other videos, the problem is having the right click bait. I think also that most people don't focus on their mobile viewers so this is a good tip to try.

Doing videos that you are sure that it is going to benefit people around you is the best way to go. People that go on YouTube do that for a reason and making videos on that aspect of interest and passion will be of huge benefits even in the coming years. Ensure that the video is centred around what people are looking to buy and not on any other thing.
