    The benefits of implementing Google My Business

    I'm always on the look for ways to gain more exposure on Google, I'm a big fan of everything that Google has to offer and I think every business owner or online marketer out there should keep an eye of every service that Google is offering because most of the times those services and features can help a lot exposing your business or websites in the search results.

    So let's talk a little about the benefits if implementing Google My Business.

    So what exactly is Google My Business?
    Well, basically is information about your company or websites displayed in search results like this:

    Some of the benefits of setting up you Google My Business account:

    • Getting information panels in search results regarding your business like the one above when people are searching for your brand.
    • You can expose your real location as well as directly linking it on Google Maps
    • You can post contact information
    • You can post your company's functioning hours so people can know exactly when to contact or visit you
    • You will have the option to gain a star rating after you have at least 5 real reviews. Just keep in mind that even if all of your reviews are 5 out of 5 starts Google will not give you a full rating because is taking into account future reviews that "might" not be all fully positive.

    Hi Cristian, thank you for this great topic. I asked a question a while back because I have a duplicate Google Plus page and Google won't let me use the page that has all my posts and followers! When I tried to register my business on Google My Business it created a new page which is really inconvenient. So I am not sure what to do about that.

    Then my next problem is exactly what Mike has brought up. I don't have an address for my businesses. I work from home and I don't want my home address showing up for all my websites on Google! This does not appeal to me at all.

    Do you have any ideas on how I can resolve these two issues?

    Hey Lynne and Mike, I will answer you both here. Most of my clients have brick-and-mortar businesses thus they have physical locations. But I also had cases of clients that were strictly online.

    Lynne, that is a big problem and I actually had a client with the same issues on duplicate G+ pages. You need to contact Google support and explain the problem, the process takes around 5 days, at least for me it did, with multiple replies between me and Google support team. Depending on your exact problem Google will advise you on the best way to fix this.

    Once I had a restaurant and wanted to list my restaurant in Google business. However, during my research, I found that zero percent of people searched for my resturant online. There was zero engagement no my restaurant social media pages. 99.99 customers found my restaurant through word of mouth, signboards, billboards, and posters. Therefore, I dropped the idea. However, I believe Google My Business is one of the best opportunities to grow your business.

    I am wondering why Google My Business is not progressing much. We all know that the internet has a lot of business websites that probably the think tank in Google had targeted when they were designing Google My Business. In fact, Google has so many other features that are not moving pretty good. Google Drive is fine with its free cloud storage. But Google+ is anemic with the public response. Is there something wrong with Google’s marketing of their featured products?
