    One suggestion is to have accounts on many social media platforms. That way, you can attract audiences on all of those platforms to grow the largest customer base possible. Also, you can tell people you are also on Facebook, Instagram, etc on all of your accounts. One other suggestion is to use as many hashtags as you can. Therefore, you can show the most possible people your product or services. However these are sometimes annoying to people so it is best to put them somewhere where no one can see them.

    Sharing contents is not enough, there should be engagements with your content. Your sharing should generate traffic and sales. You should always stay away from too much sharing. If you share your contents too much it will be considered spamming. You should share contents of other people as well.

    Sharing content on media social definitely increases traffic. I have found that the best for this purpose is Stumbleupon. But, as vinaya points out, you do need to share content wisely, especially on sites like Reddit, or you will get barred for spamming. The best way to avoid this is to share other people’s content as well as your own and like other people’s content on the site too.

    I think social media is very relevant to increase the visibility of a content. However, more than simply sharing the content, I believe it is important to promote engagement.

    That is, it's no good to post an article on Facebook, for example, and have no comments or shares

    I believe that engagement is the key to visibility in social media.

    When I was planning to create a blog of my pets, some veteran bloggers advised me to create several accounts in social media - one for my personal, one for business with professional profile, a wacky account that I can use to connect to people I don't really know and some other accounts. When I have my blog, I can have instant readers when I promote my blog to those social media friends. However, it would be irritating to my friends if I would regularly post to promote my blog. But it's okay if the post is creative and interesting.

    You are right. I personally know someone who started a food blog and she was regularly posting about it on Facebook. Her Facebook posts prompted me to visit her blog very often. Moreover I regularly share her posts with my other friends on Facebook. Today she is successful blogger.
