How does one target a specific niche market?

If there is a specific group of people you are targeting whether it be an ethnic group or religious group, how do you narrow it down? If there is a product crafted on how to teach kids that were autistic per say, and I was looking for a market of parents that would buy it, who or where would I find a person/place to find that niche market to cater to?

Hello
I have been doing this on social media with 3 platforms.
Here are my quick steps:
1. Create an account with a name that fits your niche.
2. Write great content regarding your niche.
3. Follow people who have similar interests.
4. Create a group that targets your niche.
5. Join other groups that fit your niche and contribute to the conversations.
6. Promote your product or service.

The key is stay persistent. Offer something of value to the followers.
Stay laser focused with your niche. This has been working well for me.

Following people with the same interest is a great advice. However, if the profile name is about the niche, I don’t think it is attractive to a layman. Like me, I am a pet lover but I wouldn’t follow someone on Facebook with a profile name like Petme or Mypet. I would prefer a real name of a person. Of course, what I see in my friends on Facebook are real people with real names. And although some profile names are not real names, I tend not to be serious with them.

I think being very specific about the type of the content that you have on niche can change a lot. I have found that niche market can be hard to handle unless you have converted something. Some of the time the list building requires a very specific set of people for it to work. I have found that targeting in such context takes a lot of time. I personally think that one should start with acquiring leads before marketing.

By leads do you mean acquire email addresses and names or something else? Also, I'm having a hard time building up my list in a way that doesn't involve just buying the leads from someone. Which isn't always a surefire way since you have to check behind them and dig through the leads that you bought to find the cream of the crop.

Some people nowadays just sell you anything without any regard for quality control and with leads, there's no way to know until it's too late. Do I just make one of those get something for free survey things to gather leads or did you have something else in mind when you wrote that? Please elaborate.

Yes acquire email address. Facebook ads can be good option in such case. You can see that they have option in the facebook ads for getting such leads. In this case you may have to tweak the landing page. I have seen some of the people testing with this. And they seem to have good experience with this. I know not all leads are going to be good in such case. It just requires some patience.

that is a great question and although I don't have all the answers for this question, I'm in the process of finding my target audience, and since I do conscious hip-hop, I look at other artists with similar content, and try to target those fans, because the chances are good that if your music or product is similar to others but original, I will be able to tap into the competition by letting say "Lupe Fiasco's" fans know that I exist, weather I follow fans of Lupe on Twitter and hope for a follow back, or by other marketing methods.

So I should be on social media and do research trying to learn from predecessors? Or am I looking for what I can give them? Also, after I find my market how does one go about building their email list and making money off of that? I feel I am reading all of these articles in the wrong order if someone could paint a picture of how this works, kind of like imhero did so well. It would be greatly appreciated.

You should always follow the keywords related to such niche.
1. Organic traffic
make sure you have carried out proper keyword research, then create quality contents on them, this will bring organic traffic to your website, make sure you have a way to get them to subscribe to your list by offering then a free product the cant resist and cant get until they are on your list.

2. Targeted traffic
Getting targeted traffic to you list on particular niche, mean running targeted promotion on either social media or search engines or buysellads on website. Make sure you send these targeted promotion to your landing page where they get a free stuffs to signup on your list.

3. Free Niche Traffic
On social media and forums, make sure you join niche related groups and pages and contribute valuable contents on them to gain trust from other users. Onece in a while your smartly add links back to your social media page or website, since trust is already created they will easily convert.

After they are signed to your list, then you can promote to them through series of image. Note dont alway try to sell to your list all the time. Out of 9 mails sent, let 6 offer valuable information that help them achieve their aim of joining your list, the sell only 3 out of those 9 mails sent.

I analyze more things before jumping into a specific niche market, if it is too competitive then I can switch to other niches which is more easier to develop and earning benefit from it.
Anyway it depends on the way you research the market.

I think alot of people also choose to create facebook pages around their site. In this way they are going to build a core group of dedicated followers that are going to appreciate and utilize their site. It should be targeted to those who have an interest in your subject matter and are willing to follow your page.

I have been seeing Facebook Pages that really look like a promotional campaign for their website. But since the contents of those pages are interesting that may be the reason why the readers are coming back with comments and likes to the posts. And if the Facebook Page gets a thousand of followers then maybe we can say that it has a specific target on its hand already and ready for picking.
