10 Tips To Building A Better, More Successful Business Website
Are you a business with a business website? Or perhaps your website is your business! If so, you'll need to know about some important tips that can help you to see more success with your website. Honestly, these tips are the best I could ever give you when it comes to launching, running, maintaining and growing your website in today's digital economy! These are 10 crucial strategies for turning your online presence into something your business can actually make use of! Hopefully, after reading these, you will be convinced differently in the way you think about your Internet presence and the ROI that you can expect to see. Without much further ado, let's get right into the thick of it! 10 Tips To Building A Better, More Successful Business Website

1. Research Your Customers
Do you know who your targeted audience really is? Do you know what they are looking for? Where the majority of them live, what their other demographics are? If not, then it's high time you find out! By identifying your targeted audiences personas you'll be able to better address content that is meant for them.

2. Design, Structure and Content
Do you think that a website should look pretty or have better structure and content? Well, if you said pretty you would be wrong. While a pretty looking website is one thing, a website that has good structure, navigation and content is much more important! At the end of the day, pretty will only get you so far! If your website lacks substance, character and personlity, and it's not easy to navigate and find pages and things on it, people wont stay long while using it and search engines might not even index it!

3. Actionable, Informational, Educational
Three things your website should be is actionable, meaning that it inspires, motivates or just tells people to do something. It should also be informational and educational too. You need to ask, does my content help people? Does it inform and educate? Does it tell people what to do through Call To Actions? If not, then your content can and will cause people to disconnect from your site. So you should adopt a content calendar and sales funnel along with targeted offers too.

4. Get Google Hummingbird Friendly
Is your website and business's staff empowered to do work online? Do you handle all the work yourself or do you have a partner do it for you? With the Google Hummingbird update, your whole business's team are now critical players to the success of your website.

5. You MUST Have a Blog!
Does your website have its own blog? If not then you are seriously going to lose out on a whole lot of benefit! A blog can be one of the most effective tools your website has and uses for attracting people to your website in the first place. Plus blog content can always be repurposed later down the line. Just don't get too promotional with your blog, instead, only add high quality, relevant blog posts that shares great content and knowledge to help you build trust and credibility amongst your readers.

6. Make the Most of SEO
How well you are found online, how easily discoverable you are, will come down mainly to the SEO that your website does. Search engine success relies heavily on what kind of SEO you do to go about attracting new prospects to your site. That involves a combination of great content, social engagement and avoiding doing those SEO tricks that can land you in hot water (black hat).

7. Social Media = Network
Are you looking at and thinking of social media marketing as networking? Well you should because that's basically what it is. It's that basic, innate desire to do business with other people that we know and like and trust. To get people to know, like and trust you, you should be adopting full use of social media tools so you can connect with them.

8. Craft Relevant Offers
As a website, do you create and craft offers that are relevant to what your targeted audience is looking for? People are looking and searching online for answers to their problems. If you can provide these answers at all levels of your sales funnels and build a case in favor through your solutions, well that will add an extra touch point in your sales process.

9. Set And Forget? Forget it!
If you're looking for a set and forget option then forget it! There is no real set and forget option when it comes to running a successful website. Getting started is just the beginning. But building an online presence takes time and perseverance. You'll need to set aside a budget to pay for things like SEO and marketing, content creation and social media marketing. Without it, you'll just get left behind..

10. Watch Your Analytics
Do you keep a close eye on your website's analytics? It's all good to know about how many people are visiting your site daily/weekly/monthly or yearly. But knowing what pages they are visiting and reading and how they are moving about on your site will let you better know how to turn them into converting traffic and visitors. To help with this, you should watch your Analytics like you watch your bank balance! Nothing can beat intelligence and knowledge. After all, what is knowledge? It's power! 10 Tips To Building A Better, More Successful Business Website

Great tips! I can also add this; if you are starting out and funds are low in the beginning, you can take advantage of the free tools available to build a site for starters. Or hire someone from Fiverr for $5 to design a basic five-page website for your business. But you should always have a plan not to stay that way for too long. As the business grows and improves, upscale and outsource the design/overhaul of your website to a professional designer. Take a look at awesome sites like Uber, Apple. They give me inspiration on how I want my site to look.

It is common for a starter of a business to have shortage of funds but I prefer to have a big budget before I do a start up. I had experienced that problem of shortage of capital with my retail business of clothing items and accessories. When the business picked up, I was in a scramble for more capital that I was forced to turn to money lenders with high interest rate. You can guess what happened next.

I have a business website and I sell lingerie from my website. It is a affiliate store where I sell products from Amazon, Commission Junction and Linkshare.
For and foremost thing required for any business is customer. There are different kinds of customers and finding the right one is key to success.
A business website should also look clean, if it is cluttered with ads and products, this will be a turn off for many customers. YOu must turn away from the temptation of having too many ads on your website.

Thank you for all these good tips! I have created a website for my freelance business a few years ago, and I have almost neglected it. I really need to tackle all these one by one, following your guide. I was thinking and even discussing with my partner about creating a blog and having social media accounts for our business as well, he doesn't really agree with it, but I think these are important. I am glad I have read this from you, and now I am heading towards this direction.

Thanks again for sharing this!

The point in social media is the most important for me because that’s where the action is. It seems that every Tom, Dick, and Harry are using social media for whatever purpose and we can cultivate that aspect. Likened to farming, social media is the main pasture that appears to be green all the time with users ready for harvest any time. And a simple promotional post on your timeline can yield you a hundred positive reactions from your friends in social media.

Social media marketing is one of the areas where you have to develop skills if you want to gain traction for your website. Social media traffic is high quality traffic because it converts better. However, for a better conversion, you will have to target your marketing campaign to the right audience. You also have to do seo and generate organic traffic because organic traffic is stable traffic, once you do SEO and manage to take your website on the top search results, you will reap benefits for a long time.
