Tips in reviving a dead or stagnant website

What I mean with dead website is a website that has noupdates for 1 year. And since it has become static for a long time, most likely
there are no more visitors excepts the usual bots. Given the task to revive the
dead website, my idea is this....1. First is to change the design, maybe make it morecolorful and also make the contents more compact and directly related to the
theme.  2. There should be adefinite updating schedule and the updates are clearly identified. For example
if the website is in the e-magazine format then having twice a week updates of
articles would make it more attractive than a weekly update. 3.  If possible, theupdates should be interesting and in stride with current events. Maybe news
will be appreciated. 4.  Re-launch the sitewith a bang. Have a relentless campaign in the social media.  What more can you add to my list?

The first thing you should decide on is to get the site updated and then draw traffic to the site. I won't be enthused when I reach your site from Facebook after a relentless advertising campaign by you, only to find out a site that was last updated a year ago.
I would be sure to blacklist your site forever.

You may also need to hire a content or freelance writer to help you write a few articles so as to push your site into the limelight. Frequent updates would help in a lot of ways and you could use some scheduling tools to help you out.

The role of traffic in helping revitalize your site cannot be overemphasized. This can be don by advertising on several social media sites, with Facebook topping the list. Make sure the face of your advert is something that would excite readers and prod them to come looking. For example, if you offer a finance blog, you could make a post on "How to make $2000 in a day" and use it as the front for your advertising campaign.

It would work give you a much better result than where you use a topic like "How to spend your money faster" as the face of your advert.

I agree on this 100%. To revive the site, fill it with updated content first. Let the site speak for itself.

Because when you intensively advertise for it then people see that it doesn't have anything recent on it, they'll likely flag the site as spam and will never bother with it again. That's a lot of potential visitors lost. But when you update it with content first even without the necessary advertising, people could randomly stumble upon the website and see that this is a site that needs to get more traction. This is the exact reason why word of mouth on social is better than an advertisement, if people appreciate the content you are giving out, they'll happily advertise it on their own.

I guess the best tjingvto do is to rethink what you needd to do with the site. 1 year of no movement means your so dependent on what already there and not making any innovation to the site. Vusit other sites that is relevant to what you have and try to immitate what they have for the mean time. Once you have gained momentum, you can try addingvthings on you own.

I think in this case the campaign will be very important. You will have to advertise and spread the word of the relaunch. You want people to be excited about it so don't announce the relaunch on the actual date but a bit sooner. For example ''My website will be reopened on XY of June, come blabla'' So people are prepared ahead.

Besides that, everything you've listed is good. You will really have to provide with high-quality content to keep the people coming back or to even visit for the first time. I suggest you try different forums that allow promotions Tips in reviving a dead or stagnant website

I think updating the site layout and populating it with updated content is the first step in reviving your website.

I also think that integrating with social networks is important to highlight even more to your audience that your site is coming back active.

Unless the blog is updated there is no point in showcasing it. There is also the issue of us mixing different subjects in the same blog. It is wise to go through the blog thoroughly and give it a makeover in all directions and then start talking about it.
I too have a blog which is languishing. I have a few things that have gone wrong there. I am now determined to give my blog a look over and make it the state-of-the art blog.

New material will make a website alive to some. However, there is some debate as to whether a lot of visitors is also needed. Anyway, the more the merrier, so to speak. Therefore, while 3 or 4 people can be fun, you want to focus on a starting goal of around 30 or 40 people a day.

Very good tips and ideas. My blog site had been stagnant and dead for years. Since the Bubblews time, I have not updated my blog and most of the links are outdated or dead since those sites are not paying anymore. Changing the theme and background color should be able to attract more external traffic. In addition , get rid of the links that are not updated .

I think if you post regularly on social media and get some likes and shares. This can keep you engaged with the content. I have found that some of the people who post their blog post on social media groups, keep the traffic going. Also those who link their content from others blogs. That also works. Google can start giving the traffic back to you in such case. I'd say it's worth checking out the new content and then add it to your website.

I agree with you. Once the stagnant site is updated, refurbished, it is time to share at social media sites and get the traffic coming in. Put in the polls and quiz or join in forums to generate new traffic

Yes. SEO is overrated. People need to look at the alternative source of the traffic. There are forums and the social media. That seems to bring in more value too. So I think it's better consider the other type of websites these days for traffic instead of chasing the SEO. Because SEO is trick game now.

Yeah, i'd say that. First focus on getting quality content flowing again. Then a total makeover of the site's appearance is also a good idea. Finally, social media and blogs and forums marketing is also great.

The dead website needs a complete makeover. First of all you need to work with the design. Add a new theme.
Secondly, update your contents. When the contents are not updated for a long time, it will not fetch any traffic, therefore, old contents need to be updated. You need to add fresh content or delete unimportant paragraphs.
Then you should also add new articles on your website.
When you are done, start promoting it on social media.

I think the biggest impact would be to offer something that the users will want to keep checking. It could be a viral thing that nobody has ever thought of doing, it could be a controversial topic, anything really. Maybe even have debates for people to participate on. It could also be something really cute (I've noticed a lot of people fall for that) or something trendy.

I always heard that regular posting and having giveaways is the best way to attract new users. Everybody likes something for nothing and you can get people on your side and have them become regular readers when you are giving things away for free.

What about re-dating your posts? Some content is evergreen. Just because you published it a year ago or longer, doesn't mean that people are not still interested in the topic. Why don't you go back and review your content, see if it needs updating, give it some cosmetic surgery, and put it back out there publishing it with a current date?

What about republishing your posts? Republish your old content by presenting it at sites that accept republished content. Niume.com and Medium.com both accept republished content. YAHOO Voices used to, but that platform was shut down. Here are some other sites: 16 Sites That Accept Previously Published Writing

I can tell you from what I seen on past websites is there is usually no amount of money that you can throw into a dead website to get it going again. Usually if a website dies off it dies off for a reason. But you could start by writing fresh new exciting articles and you could also spend money on advertising. But whatever approach you try I wish you success.

I guess it depends on the kind of website because there are many cases where a dead blog was revived and they again got a good number of traffic. For a dead forum maybe it is not advisable to revive it. Much better if you just create a new forum even if it has the same niche because a new forum is easier to promote. For an e-commerce site maybe it would depend on the products that you intend to sell.
