8 ways to boost your startup through blogging

Every new startup wants to launch a website in order to siphon traffic and make a ton of money, but it simply doesn't happen that way over night.  There are roughly 1,000,000,000 websites out there, not all being active, and that makes it challenging for on website to stand out from the crowd of competitors.  More important, if someone does end up getting to your website, your design and content needs to be inviting enough to keep them on your site long enough to turn into a new customer.  Blogging is one of the best ways to add massive amounts of content to your website in a short amount of time and hopefully capturing new clients and/or readers.

When it comes to a small business, your business, it's never to early to start blogging.  Get started from day 1 and you will be rewarded eventually.  I've actually had numerous clients tell me something along the lines of "I'll start blogging in a few months after we get settled in".  This is one of the worst things you can do because you're just delaying your online success.  Even if you're not ready for sales, you can still be blogging and increasing your subscribers as well as your search engine rankings.  Once you are ready for sales, it will be like opening the flood gates of people who have been waiting to buy from you.

There are numerous reasons you should be blogging in order to help your business, but here I will cover the top 8.

1. Obtaining customer responses before you dive all in
When blogging, you will want to monitor what your potential clients are saying on every post.  If the comments are positive and have potential for sales, keep it up!  If the comments are negative and will never help, rethink what you're posting and tweak your plan of attack.

2. Blogging will help your SERP rankings
When you're consistently adding high quality content to your blog, the search engines will take notice.  After a while, you will notice that the search engines have started to boost you within their rankings and this means you will be gaining some free traffic from the search results within Google, Yahoo! and Bing.

The more you're posting, the more likely you will hit page 1 for your keywords and get a decent amount of traffic for a long period of time.  Do this dozens of times and you will have a pretty good traffic flow and ROI.

3. Develop your own writing voice
No one wants to get to a website and see that everything is a sales pitch.  You'll want to write for the people, not to pitch to the people, in order to increase your trust among them.  You can have adverts on your pages, but your content should never really be pitchy unless it's on an obvious sales page.  Keep your blog pitch free and your visitors will love you a bit more for it.

4. Blogging can bring in investors
When blogging, you're getting the word out about the topic you're covering as well as getting your website noticed.  Many times I've heard of someone covering a topic and it resulted in a few investors coming in and wanting to partner up.  Now, this might not be for everyone, but you never know what big fish you might hook when blogging 8 ways to boost your startup through blogging

5. Write like a leader and be seen as one
Many small online businesses will fall short on this one because they don't always sound like the authority within their niche when blogging.  When someone is looking for a job, they don't want to choose the 10th best option, they want the best of the best, and you'll want to portray that if you're wanting to be the best in your niche.  Now you don't have to hire anyone, you just need to be seen as a leader and make people want to work for you 8 ways to boost your startup through blogging

6. You can start building your subscribers early on
Now I briefly covered this in the intro, but it's worth talking about again.  Start building up your own hype and collecting emails and leads in order to market to later on.  Remember, you're building a brand and you will always want to be working with email marketing, so collect emails from the beginning.

Doing this will increase your leads, sales, and even get you some speaking opportunities that will result in higher paying clients.

7. Blogging is the first step towards being a social media pro
Each and every blog post you do, unless you're doing 20 a day, needs to be shared on your social media accounts.  You can share to the big ones like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for the biggest affect, but you can always branch out and test other waters.

8. You'll get seen and possibly attract investors
Some of you are saying "Investors will find me through my blog?!?!?!" and the answer is YES!  Good investors are always looking for the next big thing that isn't on anyone's radar just yet.  They want to be the first to email you or get you on the phone if they think you have a good thing going and they can profit off of it.  Yes, they will only invest in you if they think you will make them money, but that's a good thing!

Investors will invest in the idea as much as they will the person.  They will get a feel of who you are and make a desicion based on you.  If they are contacting you because they liked your website, you already have them half sold 8 ways to boost your startup through blogging

Be assured that the best investors are actively scanning blogs for new entrepreneurs and new ideas. It’s far more satisfying and fruitful to be approached by potential investors, rather than cold-calling a list of people who never heard of you. Investors invest in people as much as the idea.

There are various ways to get a blog up and running, free and paid methods, in which you can start immediately.  I like to run a WordPress blog on my own hosting with my own domain so I can be seen as more of an authority compared to a blogs URL like razzy.blogger.com lol 8 ways to boost your startup through blogging

In Conclusion
By focusing on the top 8 things I just covered, you will be able to push your startup even further towards success in a shorter amount of time.  Never delay you blogging, you'll just be hurting yourself in the long run and delaying everything.  Be yourself and don't pitch on your blog, use it for informational purposes and your viewers will like you more for it.

This is great information for a startup or a new product launch. I've seen some great examples, mostly with cool gadgets and the company using pre-sales as a funding source.

Attracting good investors is much more difficult than attracting readers to your blog or to your e-commerce site. I have seen a pitch for getting investors and I’d say you need to do a research on the prospects because investing means you are getting their money. I have also checked some fundraiser sites particularly the crowd funding sites that it looks effective in obtaining investors. Maybe we can learn from them.

The best way to boost a start-up through blogging is enabling the comments box. By allowing your audience to post comments, messages or feedbacks, it sends a lot of signals to Google and other search engines. It optimizes your website for search engine friendliness. In just a matter of weeks, you could be pulling lots of targeted traffic blogging.

I think most blogs will have comments enabled anyway, to be fair. But like you said, by allowing comments on your blog it can be extremely beneficial to your site because it can improve your search page ranking. It can also bring in more users to your site because they like to communicate with others and comment on your blog content as well.

If you see the comment box such as the disqus and the intensedebate. Then you're not going to find much value out of the comments. As those comment boxes are going to hide the URL of the website. And then that won't be much bringing the link juice to the site. So it's not always a good idea to comment. I think guest post works lot effective.

Agreed. One of the biggest benefits to having a blog where people can check regular updates is also having the ability to get instant feedback for each update. This way, you can more safely navigate the direction of where the company is headed and you can make future decisions with a bit more information. This really is something that has never been available before in history so it's best to take advantage of it.

I think many startups experiment like that. I agree with razzy on this. I think taking advantage of the recent trends is something to consider as well. i remember the pokemon go fad. And lot of people blogged with that fad. And they managed to get the attention of people. So the startups can be something to be considered on that point as well. It seems to bring some level of the stability.

I think blogging takes time. So having some sort of voice per article. Then that is possible with the traffic. Some people spend a lot of time on blogging and it does help them on the backlinks and the traffic. Though some of the SEO tweaks take a lot of effort. And that being said, some of the time blogging requires more effort. 1000 words and higher are good enough for the blogging.

Those are some nice tips. You should never delay when it comes to blogging. High quality and interesting contents will for sure drive people to your blog. The title of your blog posts must be interesting too. Blogging may actually help you in increasing your customer base. However, if you don't really know much about blogging and SEO then it is preferable for you to hire an expert. SEO is very important.

Great tips as usual, thanks again for sharing. I agree that a lot of these are beneficial to any startup and many would really be doing themselves a disservice not to do it because these days people appreciate transparency more than ever and being able to update your potential customers is something that was not possible before so to not take advantage of that now would be a shame. Not only that, but as you've mentioned, potential investors might also find some value in it too and those that might have been on the fence may just feel more compelled to make a decision in your favor when you are able to show progress in this way.

When I decided to launch my ecommerce website, I started with blogging. Every week I published two blog posts and promoted on social media and forums. I went on publishing posts until I had 25 blog entries. Then I started promoting my website pages that had products. While I was publishing posts, I was also working on the websites by adding products and managing the store. By the time I had completed my website, I already had 2000 daily visitors on my website.

If you are already a blogger with a good number of followers then you have the advantage of siphoning those followers to another blog that will focus on the planned start up. That is a good idea because you can prepare the prospective market with the approach of the blog. It is like trumpeting the entrance of a main character in the play that when the character finally enters the stage, the mind of the audience were already conditioned so they will applaud. In the same vein, the start up will instantly have prospective viewers that may be interested in your business.
