How to format text and content so you can increase your conversions rates

Optimizing and formatting content is conversion optimization worth exploring, but most copywriters and people who write and post content usually ignored.

This is why I believe content formatting is up other people to push unto copywriters. So if you are a content writer, project manager, webmaster or website owner, here are a few tips and tricks on how content formatting can improve your overall goals and conversion rates.

1. The title needs to be optimized.

The content's title needs to be six words long or something along the lines of 50 to 60 characters. This is ideal for any heading or title. Nothing shorter, nothing longer. Keep up this standard if you want to integrate your readers to read further. .

Use title optimization tools such as https://coschedule.com/headline-analyzer

2. Optimize your paragraphs length

Readers need short and compact paragraphs. This means the line of the paragra[h shouldn't be longer than 75 characters while having a minimum of 50 characters per line.

3. Bullets and numbers

When you have to list something, make sure you do it in bullet or number formats. This way people can quickly follow and read throw the list. Number and bullets formats are also useful for SEO, so make sure you integrate them into your content.

4. Tables for most important sections of the content

When dealing with a big, very complex piece of content that targets multiple sub-subjects, it is for the best to implement a table of content at the start of the article. This way, readers can click on the sub-title or subject they have an interest in instead of reading the whole article. This way you make sure you keep around readers whom usually may bounce because they don't have the time of the patience to read a 2000 words article.

5. Alight your text left

This is self-explanatory. Aligning your text from left to right ensures the best results regarding readability.

6. Breaks and Spaces

Use no more than 15 words per line. Use easily readable fonts, avoid small sized fonts and try implementing visual breaks with images, bullet points, numbers, videos, gifs, slideshows and so on.

7. Main layout and user experience

Throwout the content you should maintain a clear goal and funnel readers into some clearly defined next action. Call to action, and contact forms are all ways of getting something out of your content. You need to make sure your general layout is optimized for the reader, and these call to actions are properly placed.

Page optimization is not an easy chore especially if you are a blogger because what’s on your mind is the creation of content. When you upload what you had written that’s the time that you have to think of a good keyword or keywords that you will tag the content with. I admire bloggers who have the propensity to think of a good keyword that they don’t need to do a keyword search because that will only add to the confusion on my mind.

I think these days using the markdown people can have more control over the content. So learning markdown is one skill to consider. I have seen some people making use of the markdown and formatting their text. And some people are learning even in their old age. So that looks like a simplified version in that case. I am seeing even wordpress is adopting the markdown. So this can be a good progress on that side.

Wonderful article, following these tips will definitely help one maintain a good content quality which gets better rankings. Having a good title that's well written, not too short or over worded is the first way to go about having a good content because everything that happens to one's content write up starts with the title. The moment you flop from the title, everything goes downside from this point.

Thanks for beautiful well aligned tips on SEO, some of the outline points I didn't or should I say I never knew anything about it, my own view is quite different so it's like you added more to what I thought of. Content writing is one of the most important thing in SEO asides from marketing and others, this is what attracts those readers to want to try things out, thumbs up.

As a reader, the text and formatting are important for me because I don’t have the patience to read when my eyes are having an issue. Good paragraphs need not be too long and crowded. Using Bullets is one way of giving the eyes and mine the needed respite to digest the contents. This is the first time I’ve learned that the title should be at least 50 characters long, that’s about 8 words?

I agree with this as a ready too. Bulleted articles are one of my favorite reads. Because it contains fewer words but direct to the point. Short, well formatted but direct articles are worth reading and writers of such articles are worth checking back too.

True, keep your points concise and straight to the point, and feel free to use bullets even just for a summary or a concluding paragraph at the end, so your readers who don't have much time can just skip to the end and have a "TL;DR" version of your article.

These are great tips for content optimization.
The title should contain keywords or should be a long tail search term. The character count should be less than 65 because Google will display only 65 characters max.
Short paragraphs of 4-5 lines are better than the long paragraphs. Short paragraphs improve readability score as well as interest from readers.
Facts and figures should be presented in bullets and number.
I have been doing these things for a long time.

I agree with this. Many bloggers or content creators underrate the importance of appearance. I think this is one of the most important aspect of your content. There is plenty of content online. To make yours stand out, you need to make it easy and fun to read. Most people me included, will not proceed to read a blog or article that has small font, no spacing, ugly font, looks untidy and all over the place! General appearance is very important. As we are always told, first impressions count and say a lot about you.

RE Tip 5. Alight your text left.
You might think it's self- explanatory. However, I tried one of the new Blogger templates released in 2017. When I used the blockquote feature, it kept centering the text.

Instead of:

Testing the blockquote feature,

It appeared in the center of the page like this:

Testing the blockquote feature,

(O.o) I finally gave up and stopped using it!

I could not stress more about having a good title in your article. Most people in the internet today have a limited attention span and needs to be grabbed immediately by a single line of title alone to pique their interest. Follow this up with an interesting introduction for your content and you have the makings of a viral article. The formatting and other nuances of writing a good article of course follow the same suit, but having a good first impression goes a long way in this age of online article writing.

The hook that draws readers to go through what you have penned down is the type of title that you used in the article. There are boring articles that I've seen a couple of times that even to begin reading what was written becomes a difficult task for me.

So, if writers can understand the need to make their titles to be unique and nice, I think that will make many of us to go through what they have written.

Yeah, especially for online articles where you're hoping for people to click on the link for your website, having a good title and opening statement would really help in getting your audience's attention.

The thing about short paragraphs is that you get to make it look quite okay in a way that one can even get to that extent of reading what you wrote without feeling tired. This is what my mentor on freelance writing taught me that readers are not ready to go through an article that has got lots of words in one paragraph and that has made me adjust the way that I write things these days.

Formatting a text is easy, what is hard is thinking of a content. Because a lot of ideas might be given, so you need to think of something that is unique.

How an article is formatted does have a direct impact on conversions. Readers hate huge blocks of text. Unless they have a really good reason to read that when they can find something that is more attractive to the eyes elsewhere, they won't stick around.

It is why I like the suggestion about using images as visual breaks. One doesn't need worry about copyright infringement anymore. There are lots of sites where you'll find royalty free or .cc licensed images.
