6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

Whenever you're running a Facebook ad, your thoughts are "I need it to be profitable!" and you're not wrong!  You need to make money if you're spending it, and that's the main reason you actually put up a Facebook ad campaign, so why not do it right the first time instead of hoping you get lucky?

People are always researching how to make more money online, but the answers are usually simple and don't really need a ton of research, and this is a prime example of that because this discussion won't be too complex.  You just have to put in the work and try to practice everything before you open the floodgates of funding in order to be as successful as possible when it comes to running great Facebook ad campaigns.

Below are 6 ways to boost the performance of your Facebook ads so they're more profitable.

Always do your research
If you're just setting up an ad and not knowing who or where to target, you're essentially just throwing your money out the window and hoping to pull in a customer.  Instead, figure out who you should be targeting, down to the age range of your ideal customers, and input that into your ads.  You'd be amazed how often a successful campaign can be killed by not targeting an age range.  You could be showing a product to help people over 65 years old to a group of teenagers who have no interest in it besides sharing it with their friends for a good laugh.  Now, if you were to target people over 65 within a certain country or region, you would boost your ROI because only the people who would need your product or services would actually be seeing it 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

Be more creative
Most people just put up a simple image that blends into the rest of a persons news feed, which means they won't be increasing their click-through rates, so you'll need to focus on standing out.  Get creative with your images, use some color, throw in some high-quality images and you should see your clicks increase pretty quickly.

Tweak your headline
Your headline is everything when it comes to PPC campaigns, so be sure you have it just right in order to entice people to click.  If you have a bland headline, it will get glossed over, which means you're not acquiring enough clients as you should be.

If you can get some trigger words into your headline, you'll see your clicks increase, and that means more money for you in the long run.  Use something like "Sale" or "Affordable" in your headline, or even use "Discount" to bring people in, and you will boost your profitability through Facebook ads.

Make your ad copy perfect
If you're not split testing, you're not winning, so be sure you have multiple ads out there on Facebook to see which ones are getting the most clicks and conversions, then delete the ones that aren't working.  If you can filter out the bad ads, you will boost the success of your good ones, but you will never know which are your better ads unless you're running various versions of an ad in the first place.

I like to run 10 different ads per campaign and filtering out the bad ones over a few weeks until I have 1 to 3 well-performing ones to boost my profits.  Yes, I would have made more money from the start if I just had these 3 ads, but usually, the ones I think are going to work well are the ones that just do alright, and the better-performing ones actually are secondary ads that I took a chance on 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

Offer something a little extra
You can give away discounts, coupon codes, freebies, etc. to anyone that is clicking through your Facebook ad to make a purchase.  Only people who see your ad should be offered this little extra option, and you need to tell them this, which will help boost your conversions.

Remember, people love free stuff and discounts when it comes to something they might need, so try it out and see how many extra sales you get through your ad 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

Be simple
Don't get too crazy when it comes to your ads, people don't have the energy to read something that needs brain power to comprehend, so keep it simple and you will capture more people than an intelligent ad.  I'm not saying people are dumb, I'm saying they don't go on social media to read something complex, so by giving them something simple will actually entice them to read longer and hopefully click through to your website where they can make a purchase 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

In conclusion
Facebook ads aren't actually that difficult, you just need to know what you're doing before you start running them, so always do your research prior to launching.  You can always start a campaign and be successful without doing any research, but that's very rare, so just go online and read a few more articles about how to set up a proper Facebook ad campaign and know exactly how to do your targeting to have a better start than someone who just wings it from the start!

Knowing your target market is definitely key in any advertising campaign, and Facebook actually helps you make this part easy since people already post their interests and background, so it's just a matter of knowing who you want to target to make your ad cost-effective and make sure that you are only marketing to those who are likely to avail of your products.

Yeah, but how often do those interests get updated? Never? lol 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

I set up my Facebook account when I was in college, which was in 2003, and I haven't edited my interests since then. I know for sure that I'm not interested in all the same things, and I guarantee I'm not the only person, so the targeting can be slightly off in this department.

The good thing is that Facebook allows you to target more than just interests, which is extremely beneficial because I can target age ranges or even specific areas. I can also target someones current position at their job or the market they work in, which is a great thing to use when targeting people in specific jobs 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

Right now I have a Facebook ad campaign running to build page likes to one of my business pages, and I've gotten it down to $0.01 per page like by targeting the entire world but only targeting people with websites and specific interests. It's a good tactic, and I see a lot of invisible ROI because of it, but I still have to do a bit of tweaking before it's absolutely perfect 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

Oh yeah, I just realized that I haven't updated my Facebook in a while, lol. But you're right there are other areas where Facebook helps you target your market, like with age and location or work. And yeah, a lot of tweaking is definitely important to maximize your ROI.

On the contrary, I don’t think Facebook will get to know the majority of Facebook users regarding the background because not all profiles come complete with the personal information. You are right that Facebook can choose the people who are your potential or appropriate target for the Facebook Ads but again those are people who have indicated their personal information as to determine their background.

If you have a good product or service then having a good ad will add to its success. But if you have a mediocre product or service then no amount of ad can help you. You should do some research and target marketing first on your prefered niches and profile before you launch your ad.

That's very true. I'm surprised when I see a great ad that tells me a service or product is the absolute best, but then I'll do some background research on the company and all I find are bad reviews lol. Usually, the people or companies that tell people they have the best products or systems tend to be the less than credible ones with mediocre inventory 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

A good ad can get people into your website, but a bad product will always get them to turn away, and that's why I agree with you when you say "If you have a mediocre product or service then no amount of ad can help you". You have to back up your advertising with a great product or service, if you don't, people will see through your schemes quicker than you think and your reviews will never be satisfactory.

Targeting the right audience for your great products or services is the only possible way to ensuring its sales because no matter how good your business products and services are, when you direct your ads to the wrong audience, it's definitely not going to sell.

Loving this topic right now. Thank you for sharing it, and thank you guys for your comments here. I learned something today.
I love the honestly of some comments in here. I think we all have encountered the same problem, those that have a very good ad that will attract you to visit their pages and then suddenly will get disappointed knowing their products are not as good as to what they are putting into their ads. Thank you @kakashi2020 for the idea 6 ways to make your Facebook ads better and more profitable

The tips which you have discussed in the article above are very important but I would also like to add one more thing to it. It's also trying as much as possible not to have your Facebook ads not pop up excessively like a spam ad. It gets annoying sometimes and makes people hate the ads outrightly.

A really good thing is that Facebook actually tries to help by recommending posts that you should boost. I receive suggestions all the time. It will say something like "Others have boosted similar posts for their pages." or something like that. I consider it free advice from people who want to help you succeed and make you competitive with your competitors.

Exactly. You are very correct my friend with that assertion. I get such recommendations or suggestions sometimes but to be honest, I don't accept or agree with some of them because even though they are asking you to boost to make your post reach wider audience, they are actually after making their own money whether the boost favors your page or not.

Of course! It's not really a something-for-nothing exchange. But they didn't have to give me that advice at all. When I created my business page I wasn't exactly expecting to receive a lot of additional advice. I thought Facebook Business was already doing me a favor by letting me create a page for free. I'm thankful for that. But the added info about my posts is great. It's less time-consuming than analyzing traffic stats and much better than me guessing at which of my posts should get a little bit more exposure.

I would have to agree in offering something more, it might be something free, or a promotional gift for buyers or just offering something extra that would help convert visits. You can be creative on this.

I have a cousin who heads an advertising agency. And although we do not talk about his profession, I could gather some of his style in advertising. The most important is being creative because his staff in his advertising agency has crazy minds, so to speak. If you are an ordinary person like me then you will not prosper in the advertising industry. You need to be creative and daring.

A properly targeted ad can mean success while an ad that didn't do well means it targeted the wrong market. It's really best to always use various target marketing procedures to get the most benefits from your ad.
