With all the social media platforms available nowadays, what are some unconventional, unique or new ways of using social media that you can think of?

I think, Social Media is already a recipient from any issues pertaining to personal lifestyle, freedom of expression, information, education, business and any other form of human activity. I see Social Media is a reflection of our world. It's busy and has a life of it's own. We are attached to it and we are enjoying it. The only thing that Social Media platform can't provide is the physical touch. It's obviously impossible.

Yes, you are right! I mean, everyone is just staring at their phones, chatting with some virtual friends. People are slowly losing ability to communicate normally with other people. People need to reduce the time they spend on their phones!

I think, we "users" are always responsible of our acts. Let's not put to blame Social Media since it's only a medium created for entertainment platform. It maybe for business, socialization or freedom to express our opinions. It's the people involved and behind Social Media. This somehow influence us to use it wrongful or abuse it. I think, there's no one to be blame but us "users".

Many people are so brave on Facebook, but yet so fragile in real life. I think social media is being abused right now but those people, thinking they're safe behind a wall to troll or offend someone. Personally I rarely use social media, with the exception of my work and communicating with people from my homeland.

Absolutely agree. Social media is becoming toxic nowadays. I mean most people who are using it, not the social media itself. People are too quick to judge, bully and offend anyone they want to, even when they are using their real accounts.

You can also use social media to know the latest trends and news. Personally, I use social media to help my business grow because it is a great platform for business.

I think that most of the time I am using social media sites to connect with my friends and family. It was also a good place to express our opinions and ideas into certain things that we want other to know. It was one of my favorite place to hang out since I can do a lot of things from it which really makes my day worthwhile

I think it would be good if more people would artistically present themselves on social media, not just in form of pictures and photographs. What I am trying to say is that I would like to see more posts on social media from people who write poetry, books, filmmakers. I would really like to see young artists expressing themselves on social media because I enjoy arts and I think more people would start to like poetry, movies and books. Especially poetry and books, because these two artistic mediums are nowadays practically forgotten, especially by younger generations and that is really a shame.

I don't know if its a new way, but the only way I can think of that I can use social media differently is to market. Social media has completely changed the marketing game. I would argue that social media has changed the marketing game. About half the marketing budget is spent on social media marketing online. I would say that the budget for offline budgeting has been substantially cut from marketing.

Sad to say that other people use it to scam other people. There's a TV show running here in the country where people can ask for help with personal matters and most of the time they are conned in social media. So note to everyone, be careful who you meet online and never ever send money to them!

True. A good number of people do use social media as a way to scam from others.

I think in order to avoid this it would be best to research on the person or the post and make sure everything is real before extending any form of help. Help doesn't just mean giving them money or things, it could be easily as sharing their post so others can be informed.

Exactly. There's even one episode where a guy sends money to a girl he met on Facebook. He never met her in person, not video called her, and all he did was trust her completely. The funny thing was she fell in love with a series of photos. Seriously, that guy needs to go out more.

I do not know what is wrong with people. They only seem to care about money and taking shortcuts. I guess that is why they try to scam people on social media. I just do not know how they do not feel bad or how they cope with the fact that they fooled someone. People should be more careful when it comes to sending money to someone who is requesting that money over social media.

The only reason I can think of is that they have done it for a long time, so their conscience doesn't kick in anymore. Its easy money as all you have to do is make the other party believe you love him/her and make it stay that way.

Exactly. Maybe for some, it runs in the family. I don't want to mention names but I know a few people, and this is what they do for a living, and it's just okay for them, no remorse whatsoever. I'm so glad that my parents were not that kind of people.

A lot of people are turning the social media site into a scam system. There has been several cases of people losing millions of dollars through people they meet on social media.This is actually why I don't trust people easily on social media sites.

Maybe using social media to solve mental health problems just creating a page about it and make people open up about their issue in there and to really engage with everyone with a helping hand. I mean that would be a great idea, helping millions of sufferers around the world, creating a community that would certainly saved millions of life.

Not really new, but I am doing an entire course via Facebook. It is video lessons and assignments and quite intensive. You could write and run a course that way. I place my assignments as replies on a private Facebook page. Unique as you can see every one else's assignment too as well as your own.

Yes. It helps keep us updated to what is happening around us and to the people that matter. Distance is no longer a problem. A thousand miles are not enough anymore to separate people. Now, it is easier to communicate and connect with others.

You can also use social media for raising funds for some project. Sure you could go with the likes of kickstarter and others but I've known people who raised funds on social media sites for charity and other personal stuff. It does work and the advantage here is you can reach a lot of people in a very short time.

Social media can be used in various ways. Nowadays, social media are also used to ask for help for the less fortunate people who really needs medical, financial or material support. There are some people out there who used social media to ask some support from some government and non-government institutions including TV and radio stations to help a person or people who are in great need. Social media nowadays are also used by the people who are working abroad to seek help if their employer doesn't treat them right.

I think one of the best use out of social media is to send out warnings like on those FB pages about Amber alerts. I've also seen people post about things they found and they're looking for the owner. It's a great way to find lost things, even lost people!

It's all about business! It's amazing how social media has contributed to the promotion of big and small businesses. Big companies can become even bigger and entrepreneurs have a simple, yet powerful resource to help them establish in the market and make a name for themselves on the web. I know of some people that started promoting their small businesses on Facebook but they grew so big that now they need to have their own webpage and employees to help them manage their online presence.

I think social media for a greater disaster relief presence is going to be a big thing. We’ve already seen Facebook roll out the ability to “mark yourself safe” when there’s a natural disaster for instance, and I think other social media providers will follow suit there.

I don't think there's currently any new way of using social media because I see it only as a way to promote businesses and products, do narcissistic things (over-posting selfies, TikTok), discussions and self-expression. Social media has come into new form in recent years. It has channels into business-profiting services that allows it to generate income. In the course of years, one of the unique advantage of Facebook is that it allows people to help the less privilege ones, those who suffers from extreme poverty to get help. In the Philippines, we have a famous tv magazine show who were able to help poor families in dire need of financial support because their situation and story has been posted online reaching the knowledge of GMA network. Having aired on TV the said individuals get to received help through donations allowing them to live in a decent home, and pay for expensive health related operation that will remain impossible had there story not posted on Facebook and gone viral.

First was the posting of pictures that later had included the video. The messenger was a text chat that now can be video chat. As they say, what will they think of next? Voila the Facebook live video is being used for fun but I think that is designed to benefit the influencers in reaching their followers. You can use the social media in some of the following ways.

1. Use it to recruit the employees.
2. Use it to connect with lost friends and relatives.
3. Use it for promoting the business.
4. Use it to get new freelance clients.

As you can see I am focusing on getting the freelancing clients. And that way I don't want to waste it on politics, religion and feminism drama. I have wasted a lot of time on that. I hope things change though.
