Hello sanfora,
Feeling sick, getting sick or breaking a leg during skiing is all natural things. It can happen to anyone. However, as a freelancer, you'll still have commitments. In this scenario you're talking about, it would be to deliver orders.

And no matter how sick you are, or no matter how many broken legs you've got. You're still the person who'll have to deal with the work. - That being said, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll have to deliver everything immediately, within seconds. - It could mean that you'll have to discuss things with your clients. Be honest about it. Tell them what happened and tell them that you won't be able to deliver right now. And if you're afraid of losing clients because of this, tell them that you won't be able to deliver right now, but you'll deliver within 5 days or whatever you decide on, and also tell them that they'll get something extra due to the waiting time.

Communication is the most vital thing in business.

Best Regards,

I am so sorry that you are ill Sanfora, that really sucks when you have commitments.

My suggestion is that you go through all your pending orders and send a time extension for them and explain that you are very ill. Hopefully your customers will understand and accept.

I am sure that a lot of them will and maybe you will be able to complete any orders that cannot wait. At least it will mean having less on your plate, giving you more of a chance to rest and recover.

I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry about that man,I think this is the downside of being a freelancer.you have to work all the time without or else no pay unlike the regular job that you can call in sick and get some days off and you'll still be paid in full.

I think health is wealth. So you leave work for a while and treat yourself.Sometimes when the body needs is just rest.So you take a day or two off.I'm sure you'll come up strong.

First of all I hope you will feel better soon. Secondly, I think that the best option would be to send a message to clients explaining that you are sick and that you may need to ask for a deadline extension. I think that in all probability they will be willing to agree to give you some more time to finish the order. There is the Request more Time tab available in the order page. Try to let them know an estimated delivery date so as to show that you are willing to complete the work but you need to feel a bit better so as to deliver a good quality service after all.

I would suggest that whenever we are sick and have some works to do that we outsource such works to some trusted hands on the internet. It is wrong to keep hold of a client's work as a result of being ill or if you can contact the client and he/she ask you to do it when you're fine, then it is cool.

I suggest that you communicate immediately. Be honest. Don't push yourself too much and pretend that you are doing fine. Doing so will definitely deteriorate your performance, output, and productivity. Tell the person in charged that you cannot work at the moment because you are not feeling well and you can hardly get up. Do whatever you can to get well very soon so you can go back to work again with quality output. Communication is the key.

When I was hospitalized for 3 days last year, I was thinking of my freelancing because I will be in bed after the minor operation and there was wifi in the hospital. But I know that the doctors wouldn’t permit me, as a patient, to be working and I also think that I should not be working. What I did was to let someone read me the work and I dictated the my responses. It was like I had a secretary who was doing the typing for me. It was a neat one and I even had a nice time working because of the benefit of my informal secretary.

Illness is something happens unexpectedly most of the times. Everyone had surely experienced it. When I was having this situation, first thing I do is inform my company by calling them or emailing them so that they know what is going on with me. I will also call my staffs and tell them to do the work correctly and just incase they really need me,just call me and will try my best to help them. I will definitely consult my doctors and ask for medical certificate as I will submit it once I resume from work.
