Is it worth learning Swift programming language?

I love programming. Currently I'm coding softwares for windows, in visual studio with C# and vb.net, but mostly with vb.net.And I'm interested to learn new programming languages, my goal for now is to learn Swift programming language, because i want to build apps for OS X platform too , not only for Windows.

What do you think? Does it worth to learn Swift programming language?

I've read so many positives about the Swift programming language so far. And, if it's something you're interested in, then you should definitely pursue it, as knowing a new language will help you to be more marketable or employable, depending on whether you are looking for freelance or permanent job position with a company.

And though most say this language has the advantage of ease of use, others say there are some notable cons, such as discussed here on Quora "What's bad in Apple's Swift language from a Programming Language Designer's perspective" .

I'd love to hear your views about these 'cons' or negative aspects of Swift language and how they might affect how you program.

If you are willing to learn a new programming language I would say go for it as Swift is likely to become increasingly in demand as some more time goes by. It is a new language which is in beta until the time that iOS 8 is released. Since it is Apple’s replacement for Objective-C it is a good idea to learn it, especially if you are keen on programming. Apple has been claiming that it is a much faster option and that it is easier to use, and considering that Objective-C has been around for so many years it is about time it got replaced with something newer and fresher.

Swift being MAC specific. I don't think it has any specific future. Though MAC wants to take this cross platform. But lot of issues as of yet. The language is good enough. Just that not many would be migrating to it. And also with system limited scope, there is a long way to go for all of this to properly work out.

Though Swift is Mac specific, it is a good language to learn. In fact, it is one of the most popular languages. Talking about whether it is worth learning or not, my answer would be it is definitely worth learning. The latest version of Swift has added many new amazing features that would solve your problems.

I think SWIFT being mac specific and people who are not on mac. That kind of limits the way things are run. So I don't think all the programmers need to learn the language. So we have to be considerate on that point. You can see that programming with SWIFT is not going to be a good option for many out there.
