A necro post is not the worst thing. I like starting new discussions actually as it gives all new members a chance to post something.A necro post is not the worst thing. I like starting new discussions actually as it gives all new members a chance to post something.
Some discussions are dozens of pages long and it takes forever to get to the end. I would much prefer to lock a discussion after five pages and just start another one on the same theme. That way people don't have to sort through all those posts to catch up.Some discussions are dozens of pages long and it takes forever to get to the end. I agree that it’s difficult to navigate an old thread with a hundred posts. Maybe that’s one reason why some admin prefer a new similar thread instead of reviving an old one. But for me, I would rather stick with the old thread and let it grow. I know of a forum where the thread has hundreds of pages already but it’s doing okay and still growing. The problem with creating a similar thread is that the members can get confused. Which is which if there are several similar threads?I agree that it’s difficult to navigate an old thread with a hundred posts.
