Do you mean to say that the Alexa toolbar is the only means of gathering data by Alexa? It didn’t occur to me that idea because I thought Alexa has its own way of gathering the data of the sites and the Alexa toolbar is not clear to me. Anyway, I think Facebook may get more links than Google for a time but it is only for a short while because Google will be back to its number 1 position sooner or later.

Yea, Facebook did so with Google and its because people want to be online 100% of time on Facebook.

Google has lost a little bit of it's popularity because people are becoming increasingly tired of being slaves to their updates.

Alexa can't gauge the popularity though. I don't have Alexa toolbar and I like Google+. So, I'm missing out here.

usage of alexa toolbar helps alexa record. if you don't, you dont get noticed by alexa for counting.

As of the latest - 2018 March – Google is the number 1 in Alexa followed by YouTube and Facebook is only number 3 followed by Baidu and then Wikipedia. It looks like Google will stay on top in terms of the daily traffic because internet users now have the habit of searching for anything. To be honest, I use Google for the meaning of a new word that I encounter. Baidu, by the way, is the counterpart of Google in China. If you still don’t know, Google and Facebook are banned in China.
