Getting banned over your signature link

Have you ever posted on a forum for a long time and when you finally put up a signature link, you got banned because the forum owner didn't like how your site was similar to his?

The only time I have heard of that happening was on a very large admin forum where they don't allow you to advertise admin related blogs or forums in the link. If you advertised there, you could get banned. Though maybe you are talking about another forum.

Most sites will list their signature line requirements as a sticky thread on each subforum or the main announcements subforum. And, you should be sure to read that before trying to get your signature line so there will be no misunderstanding.

In one forum that I joined, there was a rule in the policy that you cannot use your signature until you have made 100 posts (not sure with the number). It is like saying that newcomers don’t have the benefit of the signature. To be honest, I am not conscious with forum signatures and I only have a signature in a handful of forums that I am in. That is mainly because I didn’t know the benefit that I can get from the signature.
