Do you post under your own name on your forum?

If you are a forum owner or admin, do you post under your own name? Or, do you choose a pseudonym or fake name to protect your own identity? What are some of the advantages of posting under your own name versus a fake name?

The only reason you would want to post on your own forum under a pseudonym is for situations such as where you are trying to brand your site/blog name. Even then, you might want to take time to post as your own name, to establish yourself as the admin, rather than just as a business entity.

If you are running a forum about a risky topic, you might choose not to use your own personal first or last name for privacy sake such as to protect your family.

I am not willing to provide any of my personal information online at all.
When I first signed up on Fiverr, I used my typical username (part of one of my emails) that I had since I was 19 (which is my FB email as well) for my some of my niches, and when I looked the name up on Google, EVERYTHING came up on me. My FB, my very old LiveJournal account, where I was from, and where I lived... Yeah, it didn't go so well at all.

Needless to say, I CLOSED it. It creeped me out...lol
I prefer to remain in the shadows, not because I have anything to hide; I just like my privacy.

Using a real first name isn't an issue for me as many of my clients already know me by that name anyway. The problem occurs when they identify your location on the forum profile, such as city, etc or make you link a Facebook account that contains all your personal info. If you want all that to be private, then that's not such a good idea.
