One of the things that works for me is to do a lot of reading in my niche and then post 'question' type forum posts on my own forum.

Perhaps I am a devils advocate, but I do enjoy controversial conversations. I like to learn the numerous aspects of thinking to better understand individuals from different backgrounds. I like forum discussions that I can be passionate about, and create some thought and feeling into other people.
Of course these types of conversation can bring out the irrational, nonsensical bologna but if it's moderated well the debates stay where it should be.
I am a true fan of learning about others, and what they can bring to the table :)
