How long does it take to build a good forum community?

Can you build a really solid forum community in just the first few weeks a site is open? For instance, maybe if you had access to friends in a former related niche forum who could help you post to the site and get things built up. What's the shortest amount of time it could take to create that sense of community in a forum?

It could take a week to build a forum community or a year. It just depends on how much personal effort you are putting into the job and how much your forum community cares about you and each other.

The key is not just building, but maintaining your forum community and not relying on just a few members for most of your posts.

The first month is key to the success of your forum. If you start strong with lots of posts in that first week and then activity dies down after your grand opening, then you will find it hard to build. So my answer would be that it takes as long as it takes to build your forum and for some niches that could take longer than others, so keep at it.

When it comes to manage a forum, there is no sure shot formula. First of all you need members, secondly these members need to post regularly. When you have good contents, you can apply for ad partners like google.
It is really hard to build member base on forums. You need to compensate the posters through a reward system. If you compensate, then only you can get active members, and this need money. You need to have a good budge to make your forum work.

When you say a good community, I presume that you have more than a hundred members with one third very active on the boards. It can be one week if you have planned it well. First is the connection for your supporters. You have friends who are ready and willing to lend a hand in posting and in promoting your forum. For your part, you should have a long list of topics that are ready for posting. When you launch your forum, there will be a substantial number of members instantly and a good activity as well. In one week’s time, that can be accomplished.
