    Would you ever give up on your forum?

    Do you ever have days when you feel discouraged over being a forum owner; such as when posts or traffic are down? Or, maybe you hoped the revenue from the forum would be better? How do you deal with discouragement over forum ownership?

    Sometimes, I wonder if my blog will ever earn money. But, then again, I'm not blogging to earn money. But I don't mind if it becomes an income source. I don't want my readers to think I'm just doing this for the money though.

    I would not drag out an unsuccessful forum for too long as it could actually end up costing you more money than you have invested.

    If it were not going where I wanted it to and it just was not worth the time that I was putting into it, then I might be apt to give it up and do something else.

    no id never leave, just keep going. i had to take a site down after 7 years, it wasnt fun

    After putting so much time into a site, your heart must have been really invested. Not to mention all the money you spent keeping the domain paid and up to date yearly.

    I'm not looking forward to the day when I might have to shut down my forum. It's one of those things in the back of my head that I know could happen but I figure that if I don't focus on that aspect of things and instead concentrate on things I can do to make the forum a success, then it will most likely turn out well. I might be prepared for the worst but I'm not going to act like it's going to happen.

    There will be down days when you don't have the energy to deal with your forum and on those days you could simply show up and make an appearance even if you can't think of much to say. Think of your forum members first and what it's like when the forum owner is not around.

    I would feel guilty leaving everyone, especially after begging some of my closest friends to be there. It would feel like a betrayal.

    I know that the hardest days of the forum owner is when the boards are getting quieter and quieter which means the community is not active anymore. My husband had experienced that in the forum of their office website. He had to seek the help of friends to revive their forum because he said that getting new member for a new forum is easier than getting new members for an old forum. Fortunately the forum was revived after several months of hard work.
