How do you choose your username?

I like to use my real name for a username as it seems more personable. Though it might be fun to have a whimsical name for a username. It might be fun being someone other than my real self. How do you choose your username?

I didn't start using my real name on a forum until I joined the SEOClerks forum. Before then, I always used a pen name, which was also the name of my business related blog.

I like my username as it's my name in real life. I don't know how safe it is to use one's own real name online but it's something that I have always done.
