    It depends on the site, it can have a very negative effect on your website due to the placing of these sites being a Back hat type of setting, Google always looks down on this stuff, I have heard the argument plenty of times before and every time what I just told you comes out with more votes!

    (I do not use them my self because I have learned that it brings bad attention to my clients as well myself, we provide our clients with their likes through our Video/Movie website and a few others so that way they have no negative effect from a backlink thats tied to Black Hat services)

    Proof; Your backlinks make up a good % of your rank, and also you are judged to the type of site you are and if most yur traffic is coming from a known black hat website yes google will not be using you very much, You must be VERY careful with your backlinks and make sure they do not have a negative effect on your SMO, or SEO as such as Negative SEO is done. (not all backlinks are good backlinks)

    Oh and yea the section when you add your website for traffic is a not good either, I highly recommend you do not use this, however if your website is in this area then it will help!

    I have come across some discussions that say posting your link on big social exchange sites can help in pushing up the ranking of your site in the search engines because they can be considered backlinks with quality. But I cannot say how to choose the right social exchange site because what you need for such a site is one with lots of traffic. It is not good to post your link on obscure sites.
