Do you ask your friends to buy your services?

Are friends a good source of sales when it comes to freelancing? For instance, if you are offering writing or bookmarking services, would you offer your services to your friends for a discounted fee or at least ask them to buy?

No I would not ask. If they want to buy then good for them. If not that is cool as well.

If my friends were in the same business as me or needed my service, then I would not mind asking them to buy any service I have to offer. It's just that now I can't think of anything I do they would need. So we will keep our friendship on just a friend not employer basis.

There's nothing wrong with asking friends to buy services from you if they could benefit from what you have to offer. It's not like you are taking advantage if you are providing a worthwhile service for a good price.

I remember when I opened my own boutique so many years ago my first clients were my friends and relatives. It was business launch that is a small even but attended by many people in my circle. Perhaps if I will offer my service to my friends I’m sure they will relent. However, online work is different from my former business which is a retail business that is easy to patronize.
